Striking up an uneasy friendship with a strange, deadly clair-sentient named Morgan, the two begin the long journey to Hogwarts. Stopping at an inn in the border village of Mangletorn in the Scottish Lowlands, Sirius is jarringly reminded of an episode from his and James Potter's past, and learns another cruel truth about himself.

Sirius and Remus were not a particularly happy couple during the time of Voldemort's first rise. Suspicion ran rampant between the two, each certain that the other was the traitor. Finally, the two separated - temporarily. But 'temporary' can end up being a very long time indeed.
