Layla Milan came from one of the most powerful pureblood families of her time. It didn’t help her that she grew up to have amazing powers unlike any other. It’s been sixteen years since Regulus Black, her best friend, was said to have been killed by his own kind. Now, in the summer of 1997, she has been given the task to teach and mold the future of Ron Weasley, who has shown signs of powers. Things are going fine... That is, until Regulus shows up on her doorstep, claiming his innocence.
At the beginning of his fifth year at Hogwarts, Regulus Black didn't have anything more important to worry about than whether or not he had completed his Charms homework. That was before the letters started arriving; unsigned and unexpected, on crisp, yellowed parchment, and bearing vague warnings of impending danger. Narcissa's being blackmailed. Bellatrix is caught up in a single-minded determination to erase the past, quite possibly at the expense of the future. And then, through these letters, there comes a choice with consequences more severe than even Regulus could anticipate.
Sirius never felt that he fitted in with the rest of the Blacks. He has experienced some of his worst memories at no. 12 Grimmauld Place and feels nothing but hatred towards his parents and brother. One evening, it all becomes too much for him to handle, and he decides to leave it all behind.
At his Sorting, Regulus Black weighs his brother's love against his parents' expectations, and makes a choice.
In an old manor, Draco Malfoy is being haunted by the ghost of Regulus Black. Regulus has something to teach him, something that will affect past, present and future - like the meaning of life or why people turn to Voldemort. Or why Regulus Black was crazily in love with Remus Lupin of all people. Post-HBP Regulus/Remus. Eventual D/H.

It's March 1981 and the war against Voldemort is raging. Heroes are needed but often the best heroes are those no one knows about. The Unspeakables often take this role and have succeeded in capturing and killing several Death Eaters. Danyelle Potter and Regulus Black, the two most effective Unspeakables, are faced with a bigger challenge; a spy within their ranks who will stop at nothing to destroy the Department of Mysteries. Meanwhile, James and Lily find out about the prophecy and decide to go into hiding with Harry but who will they choose to be their Secret Keeper? Severus Snape wants his Lord's favor for more than being a potions master. The Dark Lord wants the Potters and Severus gets an idea to use Dany to get to her brother.
Sirius runs away from home after a last conversation with his younger brother.
Reg says diaries are for girls, but he doesn't know what he's talking about. First of all, girls can't write, everybody knows that (except Regulus, but what does he know?), and second, this isn't a diary. It's a journal. That's something totally different. A journal of my super-cool life--This is the very first sentence Sirius Black writes in his Diary/journal in his first year at Hogwarts. Other years will follow.
Sirius sits in Azkaban, thinking too much for his own good.
(Originally posted March 1, 2007 -- HBP-compliant only) Regulus needs to tell someone what he knows. It would help if he could move outside of Potter's dreams.

The lost princess of Nolfrima, executed by Slytherin at the Tower of Isperfor, carried a knowledge of something sought by Lord Voldemort in order to achieve complete power. As Harry retreives the horcruxes and learns more and more about his past, he perceives how essential it is that he prevent Voldemort from reaching this knowledge. Fleeing from Voldemort, Draco becomes dependent on Harry for protection. Harry, first irritated, slowly sees a side of Draco he never did before and finds himself in love.
Sirius never stopped loving, not in despair or betrayal, not even in hate. Neither will Remus.
It was a time of terror, a time of panic and confusion. It was a time when death and pain ran rampant, and shadows sought to destroy the Light. It was a time when friends and family feared for themselves and for others. It was a time when Darkness threatened to overcome the Wizarding World. It was a time of death ... but also a time of life. It was the time of the First War.
"But I do have another witness to call." - Albus Dumbledore (Chapter 4) Chara Black was perfectly content to go through life being invisible. Then one August night she took a walk in Little Whinging... and everything changed. Not just for her, but for those she thought had abandoned her. (Crossover with Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series)

"Regulus can't bring himself to let go of the horcrux. It masquerades as a heavy locket, and its engraving presses against his palm as his fingers tense around the metal, his skin accepting the imprint of its patterns." Regulus meets Sirius for the last time.
It's 1981 and Barty Crouch Jr. is desperate for word from or about Regulus Black. Hint of Barty/Regulus.
August 1970. Sirius and Regulus' first trip to Diagon Alley.

Regulus has got a secret. And the one person who'd kill to find out - is the one person he'd die to keep it from.
Severus Snape has bad hygiene -- in the opinion of Sirius Black. Who pointedly tells him so. Severus Snape has dirty blood -- in the opinion of Regulus Black, who unwittingly tells him so. One telling leads to the other -- and both have surprising repercussions once they all start school.
Add together one ladies' man, one Quidditch player, one extremely caring individual and one soon to be traitor. Mix them together with one imaginative idiot, one fiery red head, one scarily intelligent Ravenclaw and one blonde artist. Make sure to stir counterclockwise until trouble occurs and you are dealing with one of the best loved 'gangs' in Hogwarts' History. In Things Aren't Always Black and White we follow the story of four boys, the marauders, and four equally troublesome girls. We see them deal with their first encounters of love, sorrow, heartache and Death Eaters. How will these eight soon to be order members cope with the ordeals that life throws at them?
Regulus Black, some snippets from his too short life.
Every first year Hogwarts student learns about potions and spells, but there are a few things that are not on the curriculum. Muggle born Eleanor Howard comes to Hogwarts with more than her trunk, diary, and a wand. She suffers from a seemingly innocent ailment in her eyes, but her parents and new teachers refuse to discuss it with her. How can the magical world cope with a disability that cannot be mended with a spell or potion? Set in the era of Voldemorts first rise to power when tolerance and acceptance were not appreciated.

Fresh from Hogwarts and newly initiated into the Death Eaters, Regulus Black has found work as an attache for the ambassador to the USSR. What he discovers abroad becomes his first step away from the Death Eaters and toward the knowledge Voldemort would rather remain hidden from even his cloest followers.
"Becca, he says they've got the best potion master in the world and he could easily help her, the Dark Lord need only ask it. And he'd do it for free. Becca, it's the best chance for her." He grew quiet. "The only chance for her. If I'm right..." He didn't finish his sentence. When faced with the loss of his child...a man will do anything to save the infant's life...even join up with the wrong side.
Because Sirius knows it's wrong, even if Blacks do tend to keep it in the family... SBRB, Limeish, Implied slash
What if… What if Regulus Black managed to make it out of the Horcrux cave alive with the locket? And if, after recovering from the potion, he had gone to his brother for shelter from Voldemort’s wrath? What might have turned out differently? My take on a possible Alternate Universe. Will eventually be novel-length. Note: though canon indicates that Regulus’ visit to the cave most likely occurred early in 1979, I’ve decided for various niggling reasons to push it back to early November, 1978, Regulus’ last year at Hogwarts.
Regulus never expected things to turn out this way. Neither did a certain redheaded girl. And yet, what you don't expect can sometimes be exactly what you're looking for. Sounds almost drabble-ish.
A clear AU, a look at the wizarding world with Regulus as a Gryffindor. We are shaped by the people around us, and we shape the people around us. In another universe, it's Regulus and Peter against the world. Dark, with a hint of slash.
Regulus Black is R.A.B. His descent into fear, madness, and death as he continues on with his hopeless mission. Regulus was just a lion from the stars sorted into a Slytherin snake, but in the end, none of that mattered.
Regulus trembles, gripping his wand whiteknuckled. ... The sick feeling in his stomach is no more than just the heat affecting him, the sweat on his palms is the same. Warning: contains death and violence.
Regulus Black faced death in order to bring about the Dark Lord's demise, but a house-elf's disobedience creates a world very different from the one we know. The First War continues and the Order must defeat Voldemort without the help of a chosen one. AU
Sirius and Regulus need each other, they're brothers after all. But Regulus can't remain the boy Sirius loves, and change is bound to happen.
The choice between Gryffindor and Slytherin didn't come as he sat under the Sorting Hat, nor when he stood, as good as alone, on the tiny island at night. Not for him.
Regulus fights to protect many things - his brother, his friends, the children whose innocence is shattered by the war around them. He's admired by some, but he has doubts he'd be the way he is without outside help. Written for the Alternate Universe community on LJ, set in the same AU and after "Watching Your Back".
In another life, Regulus and Sirius are friends as well as brothers, watching each other's backs, and fighting to keep each other alive in a world at war. Written for the Alternate Universe 100 community on LJ.

One-shot. Regulus tries to mend the family which comes undone before him.
When Sirius ran away from home, it was ten years in the making. But no, it wasn't because of abuse or something equally dramatic. Really, it was just another holiday.
The illusion of death is not always as concrete as one might think. Regulus was never dead, just thought to be. His return has shaken the worlds of everyone important to him. Sirius' feelings are unclear, though they were never very evident to begin with. He must set things right with his wife and a son he has never known. Most importantly however, he must try to stay alive, one can only narrowly miss death so many times.
Filling in holes on what happened to Severus Snape and Regulus Black during the first Rise to Power.
Summer 1980. Two young men meet in a pub in Knockturn Alley. For ten days, their lives are entwined. But when the Dark Mark burns, no one can fight the summons. Regulus/Peter.
In retrospect, Harry should've known that Umbridge's field trip to the ancient springs of Jusenkyo would end badly for everyone. Having fallen into the Springs of the Drowned Emo and Drowned Emu, Harry supposes he's luckier than, say, Snape (Spring of the Drowned Unicorn) or Zacharias Smith (Spring of the Drowned Flea Circus), but there are more problems in the upcoming year than just the curses: Voldemort takes advantage of his own cursed form to infiltrate Hogwarts as Luna's new pet bunny. And there's really no way to explain Lucius Malfoy, the benevolent Buddhist monk. (AU OotP; Ranma 1/2 crossover)
Nestled within the woods lies a long forgotten village that lives in old history. Its myths and tales still ring true to those who have not forgotten how to listen.
Regulus Black finds himself on the run from fanatics of the newly-established Church of Dumbledore, unable to realize who he is due to a mysterious past involving a hook-nosed headmaster. AU and virtually magic-less. Regulus/Severus/Lily.
They were supposed to die. All they wanted was to be at peace finally after their short, but eventful lives. For Regulus Black and Samantha Mulder, things didn't quite work out as they had intended. A Harry Potter/The X-Files crossover, set in a universe defined by Good Omens, Life on Mars, and Ashes to Ashes. Definitely a bit crack, and the sequel to "The Consequences of Bloody Manchester."
