Everyone knows we all screamed and shouted and stomped our feet when Peter got away. And more importantly when Sirius was almost killed. So here's my version of that night in the Shrieking Shack. Here's what should have happened...

In the 1970s, Voldemort terrorized wizarding Britain. He had some help, culled from the ranks of so-called halfbreeds: werewolves. Fenrir Greyback used the Dark Lord's might, even as he used Fenrir, to achieve his own ends and build a pack with numbers so great they could conquer wizards. In the middle is Remus Lupin, torn between destroying one society and upholding another; the Longbottoms, Aurors in the political machine of Magical Law Enforcement and the Ministry at large and members of the Order of the Phoenix; and the Curentons, a family of activists who have suffered at Fenrir's hands and continue their work even as they are rebuilding their lives.

Sirius Black had never seen a head of hair quite as unique as James Potter’s. It vaguely reminded him of the time when he’d accidentally run his mother’s cat, Sooty, through the tumble-dryer when he was seven. Black on blue-black, refusing to lie flat, as if clumps were attached to the strings of invisible balloons floating above the other boy’s head. Sirius wondered if he’d purposely styled it like that, or if James Potter had been in a freak potions explosion earlier that day. Either way, it was intriguing.
