Follows canon up to the end of HBP and extends into Harry's seventh and final year. Quidditch, Hogwarts, Girls, Academics, Jobs, and a Death Wish - these are the bane and the spice of the life of Harry Potter. Vocabulary required.

Harry Potter - The Sword and the Snake by barton fink
01/27/2010It is the eve of Harry's 17th birthday and he is still trying to come to terms with the death of Albus Dumbledore. Feeling cut off from the wizarding world and abandoned by his friends, he receives an approach that is neither sought nor desired. Soon he comes to realise that dying may be the best way to escape the clutches of Lord Voldemort. Well, I just don't know. I bet a lot of people will find this boring, but I personally love this sort of extended history stuff. I wrote this to make an imaginary background in charm theory, where it might have come from, and it's signifigance to modern day wizardry.

Picture Perfect by Shadow_Niddyz
07/11/2005Mrs. Black's portrait is a staple in Grimmauld Place. Everyone who visits there is influenced by her in some way or another; the warning against ringing the doorbell, tiptoeing around the house so not to start her screaming, and so on. But who was Mrs. Black, really? And what is her story that she has to tell? Travel beyond the drapes that hide her from the world and you will find your answer.

Swirling into Oblivion - the Tale of an Insomnia by missmazy
01/10/2005"Everything down here in Britain seems to be done over a cup of tea. Everything: Order Meetings – though I don’t attend – afternoon snacks, talks with adults, homework, whatever. Everything. Indeed adults seem to love tea, it’s an unhealthy obsession. Don’t now why though. I can just picture Mrs. Weasley with her purple apron: 'Have a cup of tea, dear,' she says, 'everything’ll be all right.' Or Lupin, sipping his tea silently, alternatively either nose deep in a book, or staring into space, imperturbable. Tonks, even! Well – when she’s not breaking the tea pot. All of them. Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape. All…" Yes! Another middle-of-the-night-tea-scene! Hermione centred *one shot* gen. fic; not really angsty.

Serpentine by Comma
01/07/2009Morena Serran came from a rich wizarding family, but lived in a small farmhouse in rural Ireland with a selfish and neglectful father and a timid and scared mother. She was almost grateful when she came home from her last year of Hogwarts and found that she could leave that life behind. Her freedom, however, would come at a steep price: she would be forced into servitude for a dangerous sorcerer looking for a few items that would help him on his way to bring the wizarding world to a reign over all Muggles, and to refuse the request would practically be suicide.
"The darkness drops again; but now I know that twenty centuries of stony sleep were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, and what rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?"``What lies on the other side of change?

03/17/2003Rita Skeeter, Roving Reporter. Yeah right. Rita's ruined, and in the wizard prison Culparrat, all for the little crime of revealing the magical world to the muggles, even if it was only in a fiction book. Now it's the day before she is released, and she is thinking back to years before when Lily and James died, when she had best friends, and when she was free.
Hermione reminisces on when Harry told them about the prophecy. A little vignette on what she was doing and how she felt as he told them.
Who would have thought that Hermione Granger would find joy in such nothingness and uncertainty? She liked that about herself. She liked that there was this untouchable part of herself that she did not particularly understand. There were questions with no answers, and when they had first crept into her waking consciousness, they disturbed and frightened her, but now... well, now was different wasn’t it?
