Harry's sixth year. After a long, miserable summer with the Dursleys, Harry returns to Hogwarts and sees life in a very different light. His parents are dead. Cedric is dead. Sirius is dead. All thanks to Voldemort. With this in mind, Harry begins to become obsessed with wanting to murder Voldemort. It's all he can ever think about. So he begins to lose interest in everything else--even Quidditch, which he quits. His grades also continue to drop. His friends try to help him, but are unsuccessful. Even the new DADA teacher tries, but fails. What happens when the only person who CAN help is your most hated enemy? H/D; R/Hr; G/N.

This story is loosely based on the film It's a Wonderful life. Mostly the idea of what would happen if someone was granted the wish that they had never been born.

Sirius Black never knew that baby-sitting little Harry could be so dangerous, so deadly, so--mortifying. For him, at least. After all, his Animagus was supposed to be a frightening dog, not a cute, cuddly teddy bear.

When Hermione stumbles into a crisis and disappears, Harry goes on a quest to find his girl and bring her back. And all he has on his side is a deranged Frenchwoman, a tattered copy of a book that no-one should want to read, and the knowledge that night-time is the best time to wash your hair.

Harry should be perfectly happy after the defeat of Voldemort at the beginning of summer after his Sixth year. But something sinister has plans for our hero and his friends. Bad dreams, confused hearts, and revealed relations star in this story as well as a smattering of Lupin and Sirius!

Pain isn't a single thing. It spreads like the plague and the suffering doesn't end with just a single person. It eats you up inside until you can't take it anymore, until you want to cry and scream. But what if you can't?

Maybe Harry Potter is merely fulfilling his duty as an Auror to the best of his abilities, but maybe his friends are right to worry about him. Catching the last Death Eater still alive is more than just work to Harry, and everyone knows it.
