What if Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, drown in grief and sorrow after the events of the Triwizard Tournament, been granted one wish? And what if this wish had been "I wish I'd never been born!"

Harry Potter lay awake in his bed at number 4 Privet Drive. He had just awoken from another horrifying nightmare about the events of the past term. And while he was no longer trapped in his unconscious nightmare, the one that consumed his conscious was no better. The images, Cedric Diggory, dead, staring blankly up at the sky, Voldemort coming out of the Cauldron, His parents; all these pictures kept flashing through his mind. The guilt, the feeling of betrayal, the numbness, the shock, the hatred, the fear, the sadness, the pain, they were starting to overwhelm him .

He didn't know what to do. His friends, the comfort of Hogwarts, the words and wisdom of Albus Dumbledore, they were all far away from him now. He was back at the Dursley's for the summer, and the most comforting thing his aunt and uncle had done for him was to leave him alone.

Despite what every one had said, that it wasn't his fault, Harry couldn't help feeling that some how, some way, this was all his fault. After all, why had he lived when countless others had been murdered and tortured? All the murders and crimes related to Voldemort, occurring within the past 15 years, had been because of Harry.

The old Muggle, Bertha Jorkins, Barty Crouch Sr., Cedric Diggory, all killed with in the past year, in an attempt, to get to HIM. An attempt that had succeeded. Now Voldemort had risen again, now he was stronger and more powerful. More destructive. More murderous.

What had been the point in Harry's survival of Voldemort's first attempt to kill him? To give the magical world a false sense of hope and peace for 15 years, only to then destroy them with their disbelief?

Yes, he was the cause of it all, and could now only make it worse. there was nothing left for him to do. Making up his mind, Harry quickly dressed. He then scrawled a note to the Magical community explaining why he had done, what he was about to do, and why he could no longer help them. He placed it in his front pocket. Grabbing his wand from th depths of his trunk, Harry silently crept out of his room and down the stairs. "Alohamora", he whispered, pointing his wand at the front door. It slowly creaked open, before him and he walked into the night.

The air outside was humid, as though warning of a coming storm, and other than the occasional creak, the night was silent. Harry walked quietly down the street, concentrating on what he was about to do. There was no turning back now, he had to do it. It was best this way, quick, and it would be over. He looked up to see huge headlights coming his way. Now. Now was his chance. Now he could rid the magical community of his burden upon then. Waiting 'till the last moment, when he knew the driver could no longer stop, Harry Potter threw himself in front of the oncoming automobile shouting "I WISH I'D NEVER BEEN BORN!"
