He Did It For Vengeance (PG-13)

Blaise Zira Ookami (firewolfalpha)

Auror Kiara Pride refused to believed the magical scans. It just wasn't possible. Harry Potter, the Boy-Who-Lived, use an Unforgivable Curse? There had to be some sort of mistake.

But there wasn't.

After the Hogwarts students were all sent away, and Minister Cornelius Fudge had left to speak with Albus Dumbledore, her boss had ordered the Department of Mysteries, the Lobby, and everything in-between to be searched for remnents of dark or illegal magic. Anything found was to be traced back to the caster, in an effort to identify renagade Death Eaters.

Not that it mattered, according to Kiara's friend and fellow Auror, Abby. Nothing short of an Unforgivable Curse would linger for long enough to show evidence against Dark Wizards. At a life sentence in Azkaban apiece, Abby scarcely believed any person would risk setting off sensors in the Ministry of Magic's main building.

Three people did.

Bellatrix Lestrange, Azkaban escapee and Inner-Circle Death Eater, her Master, Lord Voldemort, and ...

And Harry Potter.

Auror Pride was one of those sent to investigate the case, or rather, arrest Harry Potter.

He never denied it.

He never fought back.

He never said a word in his own defence, never gave a reason for why he commited the crime.

His eyes told the Aurors all they needed to know -- he did it for vengence. To give peace to the memories of lost family.

Those emerald green orbs were nothing like his mother's were. Lily's eyes were expressive, innocent, at times fierce but mostly warm and inviting. Her son's eyes were guarded, aged, dark, and cold.

Kiara knew -- she was tutored by Lily in school. Prefect Evans would offer help to any person who needed it, and twelve-year-old, would-be Aurors failing Charms class needed help. Lily never cared that Kiara was a Slytherin.

Harry Potter's eyes stayed polar opposite to those of the one who gave them to him until the day he died.

Death by burn-out. Magical overload. Dealing the final blow to a terror like none other ever known.

It didn't take long for Azkaban to be taken. Voldemort already had many Dementors on his side. The public expected their savior-turned-criminal to be killed straight away. Instead, he joined his enemy.

The Boy-Who-Lived became the Teen-Who-Betrayed.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Then came the Final Battle, over the ruins of what used to be a town called Little Whinging. Kiara Pride was present at that fight, and heard Harry Potter's final words, whispered to the dusk.

"See you in Hell, Tommy-boy."

His hand glowed gold as he punched the Dark Lord in the chest.

Voldemort's dream of never dying never came.

And the Teen-Who-Betrayed became the Man-Who-Saved-Them-All.

He fell himself, less than two minutes later ... with a smile on his face. Perhaps the only true smile his face had ever hosted.

The public mourned his death -- they believed him to have sacrificed himself for a greater cause, that he died to preserve what was left of the Light.

They were wrong.

He didn't do it for them.

He didn't do it because it was the right thing to do.

He did it for those who knew the real him, who stood beside him after the Third Task.

He did it for lost loved ones.

He did it for lost innocence.

He did it for unshed tears.

He did it for himself.

He did it for vengeance.
