Dramatis Personae

Harry Potter (Valjean)

Due to the stresses of spending most of his years at school trying to defeat He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Harry is happy to finally have the time to unwind and enjoy an extracurricular without threat of bodily harm. He loves Quidditch, but the theater is quickly becoming a passion. This is Harry's debut on the Hogwarts stage--he didn't expect to land the lead! But Harry loves the role of Valjean and sincerely hopes that You-Know-Who will save the disruption that he's INEVITABLY planning until the Hogwarts Players season is over. He'd also like to add a "Great job!" to his best friend Ron for not only getting one of the lead roles, but also getting three extra parts!

Draco Malfoy (Inspector Javert)

Draco would like to begin by stating that he still ADAMANTLY maintains that the only reason Potty got the lead role is because he's Dumbledore's favorite. Scarhead has a modicum of talent and is a hammy over-actor. Draco also does not relish the fact that his character lets Potter get away. Anyway, Draco has also been advised to assure the audience that he will refrain from hexing anyone during the actual performance (although if he makes you no promises, he can tell you no lies). Malfoy is a seasoned veteran of the theater (whoda thunk?), appearing not only with the Hogwarts Players since first year, but also with the Hogsmeade Community Theatre and two shows with the Junior Death Eaters Drama Club. His past roles are too numerous to list in their entirety, but they include: Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire (Hogsmeade Community Theatre); Agamemnon in Agamemnon (also with the HCT); Peter Pan in Peter Pan (Hogwarts Players, his third year); Cassius in Julius Caesar and Brad Majors in The Rocky Horror Show (both with the Junior Death Eaters Drama Club). Draco's most memorable performance was as Jesus in the Hogwarts Players production of Jesus Christ, Superstar (he won an award for the most severe character stretch in Hogwarts history). This season could well be Draco's last on the legitimate stage, as he has a long-standing obligation to the Death Eaters. He plans to go out with a bang! (What does he mean? Is he being literal? Who knows? Hahaha!) Oh, and before he forgets: Draco SERIOUSLY doubts that the Weasel King can handle four parts, and will laugh uproariously when the Weasel inevitably loses his balance and plunges from the barricade.

Hermione Granger (Fantine)

Hermione is absolutely thrilled to be part of the Les Miz cast! She's read the novel fourteen times, as well as numerous critical reviews and analyses on both the book and the musical. Hermione wasn't enthusiastic about giving up study time for extracurricular activities at first, but now that the production's off the ground, she couldn't be happier! In Muggle primary school, Hermione was the Narrator for the Annual Second-Form Puppet Show, as well as Glinda the Good Witch in The Wizard of Oz when she was nine (it was almost foreshadowing, wasn't it??). She sends out a big "break-a-leg" to Harry and Ron (literally in Ron's case--be careful on that barricade!). Oh, Hermione really hopes that she won't tear up during that final scene, where...oh right, spoilers. She also hopes that everyone enjoys the show, and that the rest of the season won't conflict with her exam schedule or classes.

Luna Lovegood (Cosette)

Luna just sort of wandered into auditions for Les Miserables. But Dumbledore liked how she sounded singing "Weasley Is Our King" under her breath and asked her to sing a few bars from the show. To the absolute shock of everyone present, Luna has read Les Miserables. Also, she's the only soprano that showed up to audition (accidentally or otherwise), so there we are. When she was paying attention, Luna has liked the theater experience. She hopes that she can remember all of her entrances....

Cho Chang (Eponine)

Cho loves the opportunity to be dramatic and tearful, so she's having a blast with the role of Eponine. She has a bit of theater experience (she was a chorus member in Oklahoma! her first year at Hogwarts), but she's been concentrating on Quidditch and boys just about every year since. Her best memory of this show is all of the cute boys that turned up for the chorus!! She didn't realize there were so many here. But she sends a big kiss to Cedric (you're doing a GREAT job, sweetie!), and a very platonic hug to Harry Potter for his performance as Valjean. It's too bad she's graduating this year, because Cho would love the opportunity to meet more boys...ah, she means, be in more Hogwarts Players productions!

Pansy Parkinson (Mme. Thenardier)

I hate theater. It was this or detention. Besides, Draco hasn't paid me a whit of attention--I thought him being in this show would make it bearable. Ugh. And I'm married to a Gryffindor. An Irish Gryffindor! It pains me. Oh well, at least I get to scream and curse and generally abuse people....

Seamus Finnigan (Thenardier)

Seamus would like to point out, first off, that Miss Parkinson is no prize herself (he snuck a look at everybody's bios before the program went to the printers). Some shout-outs: Harry's awesome, Hermione's coming along, Luna's Luna, and Ron is...Ron's...doin' good. Anyway: Seamus is more interested in directing than acting, but he loves the part of Thenardier (sewer scene=wicked!). Seamus has been student director for the winter one-act at Hogwarts since first year. His past directorial projects are: The Bald Soprano, Variations on Friar John's Failure, The Second Shepard's Play, Tom Jones, and his personal favorite, an adaptation of Moby Dick. Ignore the Slytherins and enjoy the show!

P.S. KISS ME, I'M IRISH!!!

Cedric Diggory (Marius)

Without Cho's support, Cedric wouldn't have tried out at all. Thanks for the opportunity, honey! Cedric really prefers Quidditch, and it came as a total surprise that he could sing at all. Even though it took Cedric till yesterday to get all of his lines down, he's still enjoyed the whole process! Hufflepuffs CAN achieve things!

Ron Weasley (Enjolras, Bishop, Foreman, and Pimp)

Ron is still confused as to how he wound up with four parts. Hermione said that it's the constant tragedy of school theater: not enough boys (Cho Chang said the same thing...). Anyway, this is Ron's first ever show, and it's been a real challenge trying to nail all of these parts down (a bishop AND a pimp? Really...). Still, Ron's getting excited for the next show that the Hogwart's Players puts on and is loving the acting thing. He's also glad that he did NOT get type-cast as a sidekick: He's the leader of a revolution! Hooray, and Ron wants Harry and Hermione to break a leg! (And Malfoy to break his neck....)

Colin Creevey (Gavroche)

Colin is ECSTATIC to be involved with the Hogwarts Players! He's been the official head-shot photographer for four years running, and now he finally gets a part. Colin KNEW that Harry would get the lead! The only part Colin doesn't like is that his character gets shot...everyone else in the cast seems to really enjoy that part though, so Colin must be doing something right!! Enjoy, everybody!
