Harry Potter and the Heir

Chapter 1

"Eerana Rowen Jones! Get up! How many times must I tell you? Eschtenem! It is already seven-thirty!"

The voice of Hilda Braun boomed in Eerana's head. Not wanting to get up, Eerana rolled over onto her stomach and promptly hid her head under one of her many pillows. She settled back into a comfortable position before the pillow was yanked from her grasp. Then a book was slammed on her head. At this, she got up and sat in her twin-sized bed. She pushed back her raven-black hair from her eyes, which now glittered their awesome blue. Her pale complexion was revealed as she sighed.

"Hilda, I told you that if you want me up at the crack of dawn, tempt me with a ride on my broom!" She swung her feet over the side and looked up at her family's maid, Hilda Braun. She smiled wide and revealed between full lips perfectly white, even teeth. Hilda gave in and smiled back. How could she resist this sweet girl?

"You parents want you downstairs. Remember that you'll be leaving for Diagon Alley at eight-fifteen. Hurry!" Eerana nodded and jumped out of bed. Hilda walked out of the room and back downstairs to the kitchen where she had been. Eerana quickly made her bed. She fluffed the pillows, straightened the sapphire-blue sheets and comforter and stood back to survey her work.

Then she opened her drawers looking for clothes. She pulled out a pair of khaki capris and her pink button-down tank. She stuffed her feet in her sneaker-sandals and to complete the ensemble, she slipped into a set of robes that matched her raven hair. She quickly pulled her hair into a French braid and secured it with a tiny elastic. Then, suspecting her parents were growing impatient, she ran downstairs. The clomping into the kitchen told everyone Ana, or so they called her, was up and at 'em.

"Good morning family!" She kissed her mother on the cheek, hugged her dad, and gave her older brother a knock on the head. He muttered something like "chicks" and went back to eating.

"Eat up Ana, you've only got about twenty minutes," warned her mother, Corryn.

"I know, I know. It doesn't take me twenty minutes to eat, like my brother the black hole here." She motioned to Scott, who was nineteen.

"Hey, I'm four years your senior! I'm supposed to be making fun of you!"

"Yep, I love you too Scott," Ana responded, absentmindedly pulling a piece of toast off the stack in front of her.

Her father, Mark, was reading the Daily Prophet. His brow furrowed, as it always did while he was reading the paper.

"What is it this time Dad?" asked Scott.

"Fudge. He's just being a wimp, but that's not the problem." He paused. Then let out a breath before saying, "still nothing from Rita..."

"Wouldn't that be a good thing?" Ana asked skeptically. "She tries to ruins everyone's lives, so isn't it a good thing that she hasn't written in a month and a half?"

"Yeah, or she could be digging up major dirt on someone," Scott pointed out.

"Oh! This window! We must make the owls use a different one when they deliver letters!" exclaimed Hilda.

"Then don't keep the window open," remarked Corryn. She picked up the letter that had been dropped on the table. Ana was feeding the owl the crusts from her toast when Corryn handed her the letter. Ana turned it over to look at the address.

Ms. Eerana Jones

372 Blackfield Lane

Crynant, Gwent, Wales

Ana opened the parchment envelope and a thick wad of parchment fell out. One read,

Dear Ms. Jones,

As promised, we have shipped you a list of school supplies you will need for the upcoming year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please note the following:

Third years and above are allowed to visit Hogsmeade with parental permission.

The Hogwarts Express leaves Platform Nine and Three-quarters from King's Cross Station at 11 am on September the first.

Sincerely,

Professor M. McGonagall

Eerana was going to Hogwarts this year because she was too advanced for her school beforehand, Scrimpton's Academy. It had been a very small wizarding school that Eerana had gone to for the first four years of her magical education. Now, however, she was going to Hogwarts for the remainder of her wizarding education.

Absently Ana reached for the last pancake and set it in on her plate. She automatically poured syrup on her plate and picked up her fork to eat. However, when she looked back, the pancake was gone!

Scott grinned at her. The missing pancake was on his plate. Eerana pushed back her chair and stood up.

"Give me the pancake." She gave him the evil eye.

"Um...Let me think...I'd rather have it, thanks."

In a flash, Eerana had her wand out and pointed it at the pancake.

"Eerana, you know better than to use underage magic outside of school," reprimanded Mark.

Eerana ignored her father and shouted, "Wingardium Leviosa!" The pancake rose into the air and came to the level of Eerana's mouth. She took a bite out of it and grinned. She maneuvered it back onto Scott's plate, a big chunk missing. "Now you can have it," she smirked.

Scott smirked back, but at the same time waved his wand at the syrup. It zoomed to the air and spilled on Eerana's nose.

"Oh, that's it!" She picked up the remaining toast and squashed it on the sides of Scott's face. However, before they could continue, Mark and Corryn stopped them.

"We don't have time for one of your breakfast wars today. It's already eight-ten. Go clean up," Mark added to Scott, who was dripping with butter and jam.

"Eerana, you are fifteen. Why can't you control yourself?" asked Corryn.

"Sorry Mum, you know how we are," she grinned.

Five minutes later, Mark, Corryn, and Eerana were gathered around the fireplace. Scott had Apparated to work at the Ministry. Corryn pulled out her wand, muttered "Incendio!" a fire sprang to life. She threw some Floo Powder on it and turned to Eerana.

"Your father and I will go first. Just shout 'The Leaky Cauldron' nice and clear."

"I know, Mum. I'm not a dunderhead." With that, Corryn and Mark both disappeared. Natalie waited a few seconds before throwing some powder onto the fire and shouting "The Leaky Cauldron."

Ana felt herself spinning and tried to keep her elbows tucked in. Suddenly, she was falling forward and into... a kitchen? She looked up to find herself surrounded by many people, all of whom looked the same with red hair and freckles.

There was some silence while the circle of Weasleys looked at the girl who had just been flung out of their fireplace.

"Erm..." someone muttered.

Eerana had no idea where she was. She jumped up and began brushing herself off. A plump woman rushed forward and urged her to a chair.

"Well! It isn't every day we meet a new witch! I'm Molly Weasley." She offered her hand. Natalie looked from the hand to Molly's face and back to the hand. Warily, she shook her hand, looking back at Molly's face. "Hmmm...Arthur! I think she's a Muggle!"

"Mum, don't be ridiculous! Of course she's a witch! Look at her wand!" piped up the only other girl with red hair and freckles.

Finally finding her voice, Eerana spoke.

"I'm terribly sorry...um Mrs....um...I'm sorry. I was trying to get to the Leaky Cauldron." She looked around and noticed two people she hadn't seen before. One was a girl, with bushy hair and was bleary-eyed. The other boy had jet-black hair and glasses he kept pushing up his nose. He gave a wide yawn and looked up to find her staring at him. "I really am sorry. Do you have any Floo Powder I could use?" she asked sheepishly.

"Why yes, don't fret so, dear. I'm sorry though, I never caught your name," said Molly Weasley.

"Oh, my name...I'm Eerana Jones. A pleasure to meet you." Then she laughed. "I can't remember your name."

Molly smiled. "We are the Weasleys. That is of course, for the exception of Harry and Hermione, but they're as close as family. And these are my children, Fred, George, Ron and Ginny. Percy already left for work and Bill and Charlie are off doing God knows what!" she chuckled. "Not to worry. Just sit and relax. We were about to leave for the Leaky Cauldron in a few minutes anyway." She bustled away and set to doing something, leaving Eerana alone with six strangers.

Ginny and Hermione walked forward. Ginny extended her hand. "I'm Ginny Weasley. This is Hermione Granger. Do you go to Hogwarts?"

"Not yet. This coming up year and the following I will though."

"Oooh. That's great. What year are you going to be in?" asked Hermione.

"Fifth. I went to Scrimpton's, but their curriculum was too basic." At the word Scrimpton's, Hermione's eyes lit up.

"I knew there was another school in Britain! Is it nice there?"

"Um...I suppose..."

"Hey, Hermione, how about you acquaint us with your new friend," called Ron.

"Oh, right." She blushed. She pointed to the tall, lanky young man who had just spoken. "He'll be in fifth year with you and I. Those two are his older twin brothers, Fred and George." She pointed to the two seemingly innocent men. "And that's Harry Potter. He's a fifth year too. That's the lot, I suppose," she concluded gesturing to the young man with jet-black hair.

"Hi everyone. I'm Eerana."

"So we learned," said George.

"Here, try one of our Mum's cream puffs," suggested Fred.

"Ah, I wouldn't do that," warned Harry speaking for the first time.

"Why not? It's just a pastry." She bit into it and immediately puffed up with yellow canary feathers. However, they quickly turned black and molted off. Everyone was laughing, and Eerana joined in. She looked at Harry. "Now you can say 'I told you so.'" Harry merely shrugged.

"My brothers are pranksters. Don't mind them," said Ginny while rolling her eyes.

"Odd though," commented Hermione. "No one's feathers ever turned black before when they ate one of Fred and George's cream puffs."

Just then, Mrs. Weasley bustled back into the kitchen with a flowerpot of Floo Powder.

"Alright everyone, get your jackets. Eerana, you go first. Your parents are probably worried sick."

Eerana nodded. She stepped up to the fireplace, but turned and waved. "Thanks. See you later." With that, Eerana threw the powder and stepped into the fire. This time, she was sure to say "The Leaky Cauldron."

Eerana was spinning again and this time fell face first into the Leaky Cauldron. She got up and began to brush off her robes when she felt like she was being squeezed, poked, and prodded.

"Oh, Eerana! We were so worried! Where have you been young lady?" screeched Corryn.

"Mum, don't worry--"

"Move, Ana, there's someone else coming!" Eerana felt herself being pulled away from the fireplace.

"Mum, do you want to know where I was or not?" she asked. She pulled her arm from her mother's grip. "I landed in a wizard's fireplace. They were kind enough to give me a cream puff, introduce me to their family, and get me back here. They should be right behind me." She turned around to face the fireplace and watched as Hermione stepped out and brushed herself off. She looked up and spotting Eerana, waved in greeting.

"Hi Eerana! Longtime no see, eh?" she asked coyly.

"Ha ha. Yes. Where's everyone else?"

Hermione waved somewhere behind her.

"Coming. Are they your parents," she whispered.

"Oh, yeah. When Mrs. Weasley gets here, I want my parents to meet her." She moved her head to look behind Hermione. "Hey here comes Fred. Or is that George?" she laughed. Hermione turned and waited next to Eerana. George stepped out of the fire, immediately followed by Fred, Harry Ron, Ginny, and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. George stepped forward and wickedly observed Eerana.

"Hermione!" he exclaimed. "Who is this? And to think you came here to be with us! I'm hurt," he joked.

"George, bug off," ordered Ron, walking up with Harry.

"Ickle Ronniekins is telling me to bug off?" George mocked a look of offense on his face. Then he walked away to join Fred.

"So, what house do you think you'll be in?" asked Harry.

"House?" Eerana gave him a confused look. "Don't we live in the castle?"

"Oh, well, I guess your Hogwarts house is like your Muggle homeroom. There's four: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and...Slytherin," Harry added with a trace of disgust.

"I'll let you borrow my copy of Hogwarts, A History. Then you can know everything about your new alma mater," suggested Hermione.

Eerana nodded and looked over at her parents. They were in conversation with Arthur and Molly Weasley, an occasional laugh emanating from the group.

"What say we go shopping?" she suggested. Harry, Ron, and Hermione made sounds of agreement, so Eerana walked over to her parents.

"Mum, Dad, we're gonna go to Diagon Alley."

"Alright dear. Just don't take all the money from the vault. We'll meet back here at...three-fifteen okay?"

"Aye. See you later." She gave her mother a peck on the cheek and walked away to behind the Leaky Cauldron with the rest of the group. Fred, George, and Ginny had joined them, and waited while Harry tapped the bricks that revealed Diagon Alley.

"Where shall we go first?" asked Ron.

"We're going to see Lee. Oi! Lee!" called Fred and George. They ran to catch up to their best friend and fellow mischief-maker Lee Jordan.

"I see Colin. I'm going to catch up with him. I haven't had an owl from him in weeks." And off Ginny went to meet Colin Creevy and his younger brother, Dennis.

"Right then..."trailed off Ron.

"How about Gringotts first?" said Eerana.

"Sure. Couldn't hurt to have money to buy our school supplied with, right?" joked Ron. There was an awkward moment of silence.

"So, Eerana--" began Hermione.

"Call me Ana, please."

"Ok. Ana. Um...what extra classes did you take?"

"Let's see...Divination, Care of Magical Creatures, and I believe that's it.

"Did you play Quidditch at Scrimpton's?" asked Harry.

"Aye. I was a Chaser. Do you play?"

"Ha ha ha. Mwahahahahaha!" laughed Ron maniacally.

"What did I say? The part about being Chaser? I'll have you know..."

"He's laughing because you asked if I play."

"Ok...I don't see how that's funny. So do you?"

"Ha ha ha! Ha--"

"Shut up, Ron," ordered Hermione.

"Yes I play. I'm Seeker for Gryffindor."

"Cool. Here we are. Good old Gringotts." The goblins at the doors of the huge white marble building gave Eerana the evil eye. The four of them got their money and headed to get their textbooks at Flourish & Blotts.

"Let's see...I need Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, Unfogging the Future, and The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 5," Eerana said to the clerk. The clerk returned two minutes later with the three textbooks in hand.

"Ten Galleons, please." Eerana paid him and while she waited for Harry, Ron, and Hermione to get their books she looked around the many shelves. She set her books down and reached up to grab a copy of Hogwarts, A History . She couldn't reach, so she pulled over a stool and quickly removed the book from the shelf with the new added height of the stool. When she turned to get her already-paid-for books, however, they were gone.

Instead, there was a blond, practically silver-haired, teenage boy with cold grey eyes that rarely showed emotion.

"Excuse me, have you seen my boo--" She looked at his hands and saw him holding her books. "Thanks." She reached her hand to get them, but he pulled them out of her reach.

"I haven't seen you. Who are you?" he asked. His eyes did an up-and-down sweep along her 5'3" body before taking a step toward her, but he was careful to keep the books out of her reach.

"Eerana Jones. Now, may I have my books back?" She was starting to get impatient.

"Draco Malfoy. Do you go to Hogwarts?"

"Real pleasure. Now hand over my books."

Draco scoffed. "What is a tiny thing like you going to do?" She hated being called tiny. At this, she pulled out her wand.

"Hey, Ana, we're going to Madam Malkin's next..." Harry trailed off when he spotted Draco. "Malfoy. C'mon, Ana. You don't want to be seen with him."

"He's got my books."

"Yeah, Potty. I have her books."

"Then give them back you--"shouted Ron when he came up.

"Temper, Weasley. You know how it gets your blood pressure up," he smirked.

"Accio!" yelled Eerana and her books zoomed into her hand. "Why thank you Malfoy. Hermione, you might want to grab Ron. C'mon Harry. Harry. Harry!" She tapped her wand on his head. He seemed to come to his senses and followed her outside where Hermione was calmly holding Ron back by the neck of his robes.

"Nice Summoning Charm, Eerana" complimented Hermione.

"Danke schoen," Eerana laughed. Then she cursed. "Damn. I forgot to buy that book."

"You can always borrow mine or the school's," Hermione suggested.

"Yeah..."

"Come on. Let's go to Madam Malkin's," said Harry. Eerana nodded and began to walk forward when she was pulled into an alley.

It was dark and it took her eyes a while to adjust. She saw the same blond hair and grey eyes she had noticed in the book shop.

"Malfoy, right? I just can't seem to stay away from you, can I? What do you want?" She sized him up carefully. He was about 5'11" and was definitely no toothpick. Eerana would have described him as handsome. Out of his robes, Malfoy pulled out the copy of Hogwarts, A History she had wanted and held it out to her.

"Thanks, but I'm not sure I need it anymore."

"You meant to buy it. I've got Galleons galore. They're not being wasted. Take it." Eerana warily reached forward and pulled the book from his grip.

In a flash, Malfoy moved forward and held her against the wall. She looked up at him, her eyed shooting darts at him.

"Ha, now I've got you, Tiny." Eerana slammed her knee into his groin and expected him to curl up in pain. He merely grunted.

"Damn," she cursed. She couldn't have known it wouldn't faze him.

"Hehehe. Now what?" he grinned. He was definitely a proud person. He was pulling her up off the ground against the wall so their eyes were level. So, she spit in his face.

Malfoy removed one hand to wipe the spit from his eyes. Eerana took the opportunity to pull out her wand and point it at him.

"I've got a wand and I'm not afraid to use it."

Using his free hand, Malfoy took her wand and broke it in half. Eerana's eyes opened wider and wider, and wider still.

"My...wand...I...You...How..." She was pretty much helpless. However, there was still one thing she could do. "Aaahhhh! Help! Get the hell off me!

~~

"You're gonna have to get some Hogwarts robes and a set of dress robes, I don't know why..." said Harry looking down at his school supplies list. He heard Ron and Hermione bickering ahead of him. "Ah, don't mind them. They fight like their married. Ron obviously likes her, don't you agree Ana?" He looked next to him. There was no one there. He turned a complete circle, not spotting Eerana at all, called Ron and Hermione.

"Harry, tell this knucklehead that he has to get new robes! He's trying to save all his Galleons for Wonko's--"

"Hermione, it's Zonko's. And my robes are fine. You aren't my mum, so I don't have to listen to--"

"Guys, Eerana's gone." Both immediately quieted.

"Uh..."

"Um..."

"Let's backtrack," said Harry finally.

Ron and Hermione made sounds of assent and moved back the way they came calling Ana's name. Harry heard a scream and followed it. Now he heard what was being said.

"Get off! I said, get off!"

Harry looked at the scene and was amazed that such a tiny person could make so much noise. Eerana began thrusting her arms and legs out at Malfoy in an attempt to get free. She clawed at him, and finally when she kicked him in the solarplexis, he was knocked on his back. Eerana promptly fell to the ground directly on her bottom.

Harry ran forward and picked Ana off the ground. "Are you ok?" he asked her. Before she could respond, he called to Ron and Hermione. He stood up and helped Eerana stand, although she was shaky. Harry's eyes glittered. He was furious.

"Malfoy, why must we keep running into you?" Ron and Hermione ran up behind him. Hermione noted Eerana shaking her head to clear the stars and turned to help pick up her dropped nooks. She looked back at Ron and Harry. They looked murderous.

"Boys, let's go. One run-in is enough."

"Wait. Malfoy, give me ten Galleons" demanded Eerana. Harry, Ron, and Hermione thought she was asking for a miracle.

"What?" He looked astonished. He had now stood up and was eyeing the teenager who had knocked him over.

"You heard me. Ten Galleons. You broke my wand, I need a new one. Cough it up." She held out her hand, waiting for the money. Reluctantly, Malfoy reached into his moneybag and handed over ten Galleons. He wasn't upset about the money, it was just his pride.

"Thank you. Let's go, we've got an unscheduled stop to make. Good day." With that, she stalked out of the alley with her books under her arm, including Hogwarts, A History.

"Ana, are sure you're ok?" asked Harry, this time more urgently.

"Yes, just angry.

"Well, no kidding," offered Ron.

"Why didn't you say before that he broke your wand?" asked Harry.

"It didn't seem important. I knew he'd give me the money." They came to Ollivander's and Eerana stepped inside. Behind the counter stood Mr. Ollivander. He politely smiled at her when she walked up.

"Yes. How may I help you, young lady?"

"Um...I need a wand."

"Seeing as I make and sell wands, this would be a good place to start."

Eerana grinned. "Right."

"I've already sold you a wand, though. Unicorn hair, ash, eight and a half inches, I believe. A rather fine wand as I remember it."

"Yes but it was broken."

"Ah it happens to the best. Here try this one." He handed her a wand. "Dragon heartstring, oak, ten inches."

Eerana waved it. Nothing happened. Mr. Ollivander walked to the back of the shop to search for a wand. Eerana, however, walked over to a shelf and pulled out the first wand box her fingers touched. It was covered with a thick layer of dust, so Eerana blew it off. She realized it was a mistake. Despite the dust cloud now hovering around her head she opened the box, picked up the wand, and waved it. Sparks flew.

"Mobilarbus!" she muttered to a box of wands. They flew in the air to a shelf across the room. ""Mr. Ollivander! I found a wand!"

"Ah yes," he said, while scurrying back to the front of the shop. "One of my more unique wands. A single raven feather in its core, willow, ten and three-quarter inches. Very nice..." He trailed off and seemed to come back after a minute. "Nine Galleons please." Eerana gave him the money and walked out of the store and searched for her three new friends.

~~

"Malfoy..." growled Ron. "If I could just wrap my hands around his scrawny little neck..."

"Ron, make some sense." This was coming from Hermione.

"Hermione!" shouted Harry. "He was trying to openly shag her!"

"Harry, she had things pretty much under control. Women and their strengths are underestimated very much."

"Then why was she screaming for help?" pointed out Ron.

"I don't know, and she only yelled it once or twice. How about you ask her? Here she comes."

"Hello!" Eerana called.

"Hi. What did you find?" asked Hermione.

"It's a beauty. Raven feather, ten and three quarter inches, willow."

"Hey Ana, why did you call for help?" inquired Ron.

"Ron!" exclaimed Hermione.

"Just asking. Stupid really," he blushed.

"Well, isn't that obvious? I kicked him in the groin, that didn't work. I pulled my wand on him, he broke it. So, I screamed. A kick to his chest did him in though."

"It's quarter of ten. We had better get moving if we all want to get our school supplies," mentioned Harry.

"Yeah..."

So the foursome made their way to Madam Malkin's, the Apothecary, Quality Quidditch Supplies, and back again to Flourish and Blotts for parchment and ink. Finally, at two-thirty, Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Eerana started toward The Leaky Cauldron. They arrived to find the Weasleys and the Joneses in deep conversation.

"Hey, Ana, looks like our parents have become friends," said Ron.

"Yep."

"Oh, Eerana! Hello dear! Did you have a good time?" asked Corryn just noticing her daughter.

"Aye, I did." She grinned at Harry. Catching her gaze, he did the same. "Kicking Malfoy's arse was one of the high points," she whispered in his ear.

"Well Molly, Arthur, we really must go," stated Mark.

"Oh yes. We'll see each other again." With that, the Joneses left.
