Mastermind

The deep intimidating theme music played through the studio. The lights focused on the infamous black leather chair in which the contestant was sitting.

"Name?" asked Magnus Magnusson.

"Colin Creevey," replied the contestant.

"And, Colin Creevey, for your specialist subject, you have chosen Harry Potter. You have two minutes to answer questions on Harry Potter starting from now. When is Harry Potter's birthday?"

Colin didn't even need to think about it. "Thirty-first of July."

"Correct," said Magnus Magnusson, putting that question card to the back of the pile. "What was the first Chocolate frog card Harry Potter ever got?"

"Dumbledore," said Colin idlely.

"Correct. How long is Harry Potter's wand and what is it made of?"

"Eleven inches and Holly with a phoenix feather core."

"Correct. What part did Harry Potter play in the Nativity when he was seven."

"Donkey number four."

"Correct. What chased Harry Potter up a tree when he was eight?"

"His Aunt Marge's dog Ripper."

"Correct. What song did Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley sing at Dean Tomas' sixteenth birthday karaoke party that caused them to get three encores?"

"Three little maids at school are we."

"Correct. Who was Harry Potter's favourite teacher?"

"Correct."

Magnus Magnusson glared at Colin.

"Sorry," said Colin, "got carried away. Professor Remus Lupin."

"Correct," said Magnus Magnusson pointedly. "How is Harry Potter related to Sirius Black?"

"Sirius Black is his Godfather, his legal guardian, was his Dad's best friend and dated his Mum when she was seventeen."

"Correct. What was the name of Harry Potter's first pet?"

"Freddy the spider."

"Correct. When did Harry Potter get his Firebolt?"

"On Christmas day when he was thirteen after his Nimbus Two Thousand was destroyed by the Whomping Willow."

"Correct. Who confessed to liking Harry Potter in his fifth year?"

"Me." Colin gasped with horror and his hands flew to his mouth. "No no no!" He stared to bang his head on the edge of the seat.

Magnus Magnusson was a little taken aback for a while and the other three contestants waiting for their turn in the chair burst in to huge fits of laughter.

"Er..." said Magnus Magnusson. "No. The answer is Cho Chang."

"No no no!"

"Um... What is Harry Potter allergic to?"

"No! This is wrong! This is wrong!"

"No. The answer is big magnets."

"It wasn't supposed to go this way! No!!!"

"Er... whose attack by giant snake-" The buzzer sounded. "I've started so I'll finish. Whose attack by a giant snake did Harry Potter dream about?"

"This is so unfair!" cried Colin, jumping to his feet. "I was supposed to announce it in some spectacular way! In a beautiful room surrounded by candlelight and rose petals with lots of champagne on the side." He pointed accusingly at Magnus Magnusson. "It's your fault! I'd have had all that if you hadn't asked me that stupid question. I hate you! I hate you!"

Colin burst in to tears and ran out of the studio.

"No," said Magnus Magnusson. "The answer is Arthur Weasley. You gained a total of ten points with no passes. Could Draco Malfoy please come to the chair..."
