Somehow, Somewhere, Somewhen

"It is ready, master."

Wormtail was afraid, he sensed it. It didn't escape his notice that Wormtail would rather be somewhere else than here at the graveyard, supporting him, helping him return.

"Now," he said, his voice cold as ever.

He felt himself lowered into the cauldron, sending cold steam into the warm night air above. He had caught a glimpse of the boy, bound to the headstone of his father's grave. Potter looked extremely horrified and Voldemort smirked even as he hit the bottom of the cauldron. He hoped Wormtail would hurry.

Then, finally, he heard his voice again; Wormtail was speaking the incantation. Voldemort listened carefully to every word. Flesh - of the servant - w-willingly given ... He wouldn't put it past Wormtail to make a mistake, frightened as the rat was. But he didn't, and after what felt like hours, Voldemort felt tiny bubbles push past him. White vapour shot into the air, and he rose slowly. After years, he finally got his body back.

It was a great feeling and for a moment he was oblivious to the boy. He stretched his long fingers, smirked, wiggled his toes - he had everything back. The body that Potter had taken from him was his again, and tonight ... Voldmort quivered with anticipation.

"Robe me," he said and Wormtail hurried to accommodate him.

He stepped out of the cauldron and looked Potter directly into the face. The boy stared back, seemingly unable to grasp what he was seeing.

And then he called his Death Eaters, the cowards, and they were crawling at his feet. Naturally; he hadn't expected anything else. He caught them throwing curious looks at the boy still bound tightly to the headstone as he spoke of his years .. of his years of exile, and his disappointment. He saw his Death Eaters flinch, he saw them sweat, he saw everything and he knew he would make them pay for their betrayal.

But they had lost their trust in him, their trust that he was invincible and Lord Voldemort was determined to show them that that boy was nothing more than a nuisance.

He Crucio-ed Potter a bit and then had Wormtail untie the boy from the headstone to duel with him. Or rather, had some fun with him. You couldn't call what Potter did dueling.

Then Voldemort pointed his wand at the boy and said the killing curse. "Avada Kedavra!"

A powerful blast of green light shot from his wand and obscured his vision; his Death Eaters gasped. He heard a dull thud as Potter's body hit the ground. His hands were halfway to the scar on his forehead and he wore an expression of incredulity on his face.

Next thing he knew, he was watching the empty grey wall opposite him. The Death Eaters seated around the table looked at him with astonished and slightly impatient faces.

I really have to do something about that daydreaming, Voldemort thought as he watched Lucius and Bellatrix exchange curious glances.
