Lily fights with just about everyone BUT James, Snape needs to take a shower, Melody flips out, James enjoys a picture of a Lily-bean plant, and Sirius receives a Love Letter!

Pranks, spells, jelly blobs, Quidditch, shoes, books, and jealousy run rampant around Hogwarts. Tee hee hee. And someone OTHER than the Marauders gets to pull all the pranks.

Allow me to extract some quotes from the chapter to amuse, confuse and mystify you:

Chapter Nine: The New Year's Party

Teenage insecurities, tea, Quidditch and kissing abound. Lily gets detention and McGonagall has an anuerysm. Absolutely no important plot points, except for the one near the end of the chapter that no one knows how to deal with.

Lily spends the summer working in a Muggle coffee shop with an evil coffee machine and a very cute young man, Melody prevents herself from maiming her siblings long enough to pack and leave for America, Sirius spends an afternoon with his horrible cousin and plots imaginative ways to kill himself, and James scares the living daylights out of Petunia by appearing in the fireplace.

Melody finds a spot of romance and a spot of trouble in America, Potter's Cottage receives some unexpected visitors, Sirius' cousin Bellatrix downs a lot of Firewhisky, and Sirius and James take a venture into Muggle England after Lily runs away.

Lily returns to Potter's Cottage to deal with the aftermath of her family's deaths. Unexpected visitors, conversations about toes, cheap romance, funerals, and dancing ensue.

This chapter is aptly, if not cleverly, titled. Lily, James, Sirius, and Melody go to Diagon Alley to shop for school supplies, Melody's uncle reappears to make threats, Mrs. Potter explains the origins of Potter's Cottage, Lily's necklace is researched, and Melody and Sirius are idiots.

Melody gets jealous of Sirius and Mimi's relationship, Lily has a strange dream, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff play the first Quidditch match of the year, two Hogsmeade weekends pass, and nothing interesting happens except for the worm fight in Potions.

In which Sirius and Melody talk, Lily and James kiss, Lin has a reasonable amount of angst, and Lily tries to find out more about her necklace.

In which Lily and James go off to Auror training and everyone has lots of emotions.

In which Auror Training continues, James writes some letters, Lily has some really interesting dreams, and everybody continues to feel extremely moony over everybody else.

In which we meet my favorite kind of character: the crazy old man in the woods! Also: time traveling, secret projects, mood swings, and angry Bellatrix.

In which the subplots take over.

Featuring pranks, Quidditch, Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests, a classic L/J meltdown, and lots of nostalgia for all.

In which Lily and James finally get hitched.
