Chapter Three
Before Catlin and Erin left for their new assignment the three girls had the boys meet them in the Great Hall.
"What did you want?" Draco sneered, seeing the girls sitting at the High Table.
"All of you sit down, and we'll tell you the truth," Kayla said.
"What do you mean 'the truth'?" Ron asked.
"Well, we didn't just come up with the idea of getting you to the other world," Catlin said.
They explained that it all started when....
It started when Catlin and Erin met at the Wizard Training Center (WTC). The Ministry picks specific people for the training, and no one except for the Minister of Magic, Albus Dumbledore, and the trainees know about it. There they got their schooling and either self-defense or war training, they had to go through three years of this before they could work for the ministry. After training they would be spies, but not all spies were on very dangerous assignments. Only those trained in war had dangerous missions.
Catlin was trained in self-defense and was only doing small information-gathering assignments, while Erin was trained for war and had participated in a lot of missions dealing with the Dark Arts. For their first assignment, they were to spy on the McKinnons, and for about two weeks things had gone well. The McKinnons acted like any other wizard family; but Catlin had the feeling something wasn't right with them, as if they knew the girls were watching them. The girls were hiding in the bush beside the house in front of the McKinnons' yard. "What the hell is up with them? I mean, how the hell do they know we're here!?!" a very puzzled Catlin asked.
"Uhhhh...I don't know, I thought we were hiding well.... Oh shit! There they are, and it looks like they have a muggle! Come on, we've got to go!"
"But shouldn't we contact the Ministry? " Catlin asked hurriedly.
"I doubt there's enough time, they'll probably kill her before they get here."
"They can get here fast though!"
"But you can also kill someone very fast! Now come on!"
The girls looked to see if anyone would see them and ran over to the house.
"Now little girl, tell us where the other two are and we'll let you go," Veronica McKinnon hissed.
"I don't know what you're talking about!" the girl cried.
"LIKE HELL YOU DO!! Now tell us where they are...NOW!" she said pointing her wand at the girl, "Crucio!" Catlin stopped momentarily at the scream of pain coming from the girl. "PUT YOUR WAND ON THE GROUND!" Veronica turned around and had a look of hate on her face, "Oh look who we have here two more recruits from the ministry, I guess they didn't teach you very well. Do you know about the crucio curse? Well you would seeing how you work for the ministry, but if I take my wand away her pain will cease and we can't have that happen can--" Right then Catlin did something that you would never think she would do, she jumped in front of the girl and the curse hit her. That shocked Veronica, "Expelliarmus!" She got a hold of Veronica's wand then, "Stupfy!" Catlin yelled
They called in the Department of Magical Law, and Veronica McKinnon's trial was set for April 15th. She was convicted and put in Azkaban for life. The mystery girl's name was Kayla Larsen, who wasn't a muggle, but simply a muggle-born. Soon after the incident all three of them became fast friends, and Dumbledore convinced the ministry to let Kayla be taught in defense. Later on, they became a team and had few assignments without each other.
"So that's our story." Catlin concluded.
