Chapter Two
Harry, Ron, and Malfoy just stared at them in shock.
"Danger? What wants to kill us this week?" Harry asked, annoyed.
"Harry -- this is very serious," Catlin said, almost whispering. "The information that we were sent to give you will decide on the fate of the world. You have two choices: to believe what we tell you, or not to do so. Which ever you choose is your own choice, but think about it first. Voldemort is planning a war against all that is good, you all are involved whether you want to be or not; you can help us win or not, that is your choice."
All of the color drained from the girls' faces; even the hyper Erin was pale.
"A war? You actually had to ask if Ron and I would help?" Harry asked, astounded.
"Well, we had to ask all of you. What about you, Malfoy? Will you help your father or us?" Kayla asked.
"I haven't thought very highly of my father since my second year, so I will help you."
The girls let out a sigh of relief after hearing that.
"We have to send you back now, but all of us will be at Hogwarts in the morning. Now we must send you off."
With that, the boys were transported back to where they had been originally.
"WHERE IN GOD'S NAME WERE YOU?!" Hermione screamed when they appeared.
"Whoa! Calm down Hermione and we'll tell you!" Ron said hoping to get her to sit down so they could explain.
"You mean Malfoy is helping our side? The Draco Malfoy, who has tried to make our lives a living hell for seven years?" Hermione blurted incredulously, after hearing their news.
"As hard as it is to believe, yes. And I wonder what the girls will be doing here...."
The next day at dinner, all of the houses were confused because the Sorting Hat was out when they were two months into the year.
Dumbledore stood up, saying "I know this is very short notice, but we have a new transfer student that wasn't able to attend the sorting ceremony two months ago. Her name is Kayla Larsen. Kayla, please come up here."
Kayla walked up and sat on the stool.
"GRYFFINDOR!" screamed the old hat. Kayla stood up and walked happily to her new table.
"Also," Dumbledore continued, "seeing how these past three years Voldemort has became more powerful, we have two people from the Ministry trained in Defense against the Dark Arts. One Miss Catlin Buley and one Miss Erin Carlson. They will be around the school for the rest of the year. Now on with your meal!"
After dinner, Erin and Catlin went their own ways.
"See you tomorrow, and be careful -- I don't really believe that Malfoy is very innocent," Catlin said uneasy.
Erin just nodded and went towards the Slytherin common room, while Catlin went to Gryffindor's.
"Dark Arts." Erin said and walked into the Slytherin common room and Malfoy walked up to her.
"What are you doing in here?" he hissed.
"I'm doing my job, you prat - I'm supposed to watch over you."
Malfoy had a look of disgust on his face. "I don't need anyone to watch me."
"I never said you did, I'm just doing my job." With that, she walked over to a chair and took out a piece of parchment and a quill.
"What are you doing?" Malfoy demanded, walking over to her.
"Writing a letter, another part of my job," she said, not looking up from the parchment.
"A letter to whom?"
She sighed. "Well, I'll have to tell you my actual profession, I guess. I'm a spy, and part of my job this time is to be a Death Eater and to get information. Therefore, I am writing a letter to 'my lord.'"
"But doesn't Voldemort know that you're at Hogwarts?"
"Yes, but he thinks I'm a spy for him and not Dumbledore. I am giving him false information, and if he ever found that out I would be dead."
Malfoy could hear the warning in her voice, and he decided to leave her alone.
Over the next few weeks, the students got use to the girls. Catlin and Erin gained an extra assignment from Dumbledore, as well.
"I have something to ask of you two, would you take on another task?"
"It depends on what it is, sir," Catlin said slowly.
"What about you, Erin?"
"I'm with Catlin on that, sir."
"Well...we need to know some more on Peter Pettigrew's whereabouts."
"Pettigrew? I thought we caught him last year, or was I mistaken, seeing how I was in America?" Erin asked, puzzled.
"You were misinformed Erin; now we need you to work on this assignment, starting tomorrow."
"But sir! What about our job of watching over Malfoy and Harry?" Catlin asked.
"They are very well protected to begin with, you just worry about your assignment. I'll see you two at 8 o'clock sharp tomorrow night."
