A tale from Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts. Professor McGonagall has been poisoned by a vengeful Lucius Malfoy. Harry and his friends are in a race against time to save her. The antidote for the poison may lie in a chateau on the French Riviera. Harry journeys to a city in southern France, and lands in one of the world's biggest parties--the Carnival! There, he gets help in his quest from some unexpected allies. The climax of this tale features Draco Malfoy, Gabrielle Delacour, and--I promise you!--the ULTIMATE knock-down, drag-out, no-holds-barred, James Bond/Indiana Jones-style air chase on Quidditch brooms. Oh, and Hedwig becomes a Mom. (No spoof, no slash, just good solid "Harry Potter" adventure of the kind Lady Rowling gives us.)

Harry, Hagrid, Cho Chang, and Jeremy Wight have an evil encounter with a "poison-tipped" owl in the Hogwarts Owlery.

The diagnosis. Bad news I'm afraid. Hermione, Ginny, and Neville Longbottom put their brains together to try to save McGonagall.

Call it "My Dinner with the Delacours." In the calm before the storm, Harry sits down for a quiet dinner conversation with Gabrielle and her family. He learns some facts about his new friends, and why they wish to help him in his quest to save McGonagall.

Harry learns about the inner workings of a Crystal Lock, a magical lock so unbreakable that no one can open it without the Combination Spell. Except a veela. Maybe!

It's Carnival time in the city of Latrece. But Harry and Gabrielle Delacour have little time to join in the celebration. They're about to break in to the Chateau Malfoy using Harry's Invisibility Cloak.

Harry and Gabrielle Delacour are sneaking around inside the Chateau Malfoy under Harry’s Invisibility Cloak, trying to find the wine cellar with the secret chamber. But there are new problems. The Malfoys are home. And Narcissa Malfoy has a cat!

In a chapter told from Gabrielle Delacour's point of view, we go inside the crystal lock at the Chateau Malfoy--and inside the mind of a veela girl. We learn the real reasons why she wants to help Harry in his quest to save Professor McGonagall--and a surprising fact about what happened to the four captives on the night before the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament in "Goblet of Fire."

Harry and Gabrielle are trapped in the wine cellar of the Chateau Malfoy--and they just tripped the burglar alarm! What ELSE do you need to know?

The ultimate air chase on Quidditch brooms continues--Big Time!

Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy have their final showdown of this adventure in the ballroom of a posh Riviera hotel, currently hosting its annual Carnival ball. But neither Draco nor Harry could have anticipated that this night would end with them facing off against each other in the middle of--A FLOWER FIGHT!

Harry has the bottle of Chimaera's Root. But now he has to get it back to Hogwarts in time to save Professor McGonagall. Not only that, he has to get out of the city of Latrece before the French Ministry of Magic arrests him for practically wrecking the town during his broomstick chase with Draco Malfoy. Fortunately, the Delacour family has a plan. They will take him back to Hogwarts on their yacht--by traveling through a Whirlpool! (Think the Durmstrang ship in "Goblet of Fire" and you've got the idea.)

Harry returns home to Hogwarts. But is he in time to save Professor McGonagall? And after what happened in Latrece, can he withstand the wrath of Professor Snape?

A long epilogue told in a series of short vignettes. We tie up all the loose ends and get in a few more laughs. Harry savors his victory and comes to a valuable conclusion about himself. The Delacour family meets the Weasley family. New alliances and friendships are formed. And of course, Hedwig's eggs finally hatch.
