Harry Potter and the Wizard of Oz

Chapter 4

Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter, and Hermione Granger were strolling down the yellow-brick road, when suddenly, there came a loud "pop," as though someone had apparated close by.

"What was that?" Harry asked quickly, and grabbed Hermione to stop her from continuing on.

"Who cares, Potter? I need a better attitude!" Draco said loudly, still walking.

"Draco! Come back!" Hermione cried, ran after him, and when reached, flung herself onto him.

"Harry wants to investigate something," she explained, "please, just give him a chance...."

They stood, and watched as Harry uncovered a passageway through the trees.

"Come on," he said, and the three young adults ventured through the great mass of green.

A cottage awaited them, with smoke puffing out of the large, brick chimney.

"Should we?" Hermione asked nervously.

"Maybe... but what if the Wicked Wizard of the West lives there? He could take you!" Harry replied.

"Or worse, my ruby red slippers!" she said, and shuttered.

They both stared. She had forgotten to tell them about her slippers!

"Oh, the Good Witch of the North gave them to me. They give me extra powers, in case You-Know-Who shows up."

Draco didn't seem to care about the danger, for he stepped inside the small cottage, and called out to them, "No one's in here, stupid! I thought you had more sense, Potter! Come in, and see! No one! Not even You-Know--- ahhhhh!"

Hermione and Harry rushed in, found Draco pulled tight with a strong bind, which belonged to--- Lucius Malfoy!

But before Hermione could do something, Harry had pulled out his wand, and cast a spell on Lucius (just enough to have him give way).

"Expelliarmus!" Harry bellowed, and pushed Hermione behind him, so she wouldn't feel the after effects.

"Why, you little scarecrow..." Lucius yelled, sat up, and was almost going to run after Harry, when,

"Stupefy!" cried Draco, causing Lucius to be stunned.

All three ran out, and followed the yellow-brick road long enough to be thoroughly tired, when a roar sounded through the bushes (on the side of the road).

Draco and Hermione followed Harry through the bushes.

"Shh!" Harry told Draco, and they continued.

Behind the bushes lay something that was half human, half lion. It had fiery red hair, and spoke to them quickly.

"Help me! I'm to scared to go on..." he said warily.

"What do you mean?" Hermione asked him.

"I was traveling to Oz to ask the Great Wizard for more courage, for I get scared of even the tiniest things...."

"We'll help you! We're traveling to Oz ourselves... me to go home, Draco to get a better attitude, and for them both to be turned back into boys! What's your name?" Hermione replied, excited.

"Ron Weasley... I was turned into a lion by my mother, the Good Witch of the North, as a punishment for being rude to my little sister, Ginny. She's not in this story--"

"What was that you just said?" they said hurriedly.

"Oh, nothing," Ron replied, and Hermione said,

"Your mother's the Good Witch of the North? She gave me these ruby red slippers, so that I would not be overtaken by You-Know-Who! Wow, what a coincidence!"

The four of them kept walking down the yellow-brick road, until they came to a stop in front of a field of pink flowers.

"Oh, they're so beautiful! You don't mind if I go smell them, do you, boys?" Hermione asked, and she bounded out into the field.

Ron leaped after her.

"Not at all!"

The flowers were seemingly making them all woozy. Next thing they knew, they woke around three hours later.

"I'm so tired..." Draco muttered, as Harry stood and took a look around.

"Me too," Harry replied.

"I think it's these flowers!" Hermione said, then explained her reasoning.

After listening to her for twenty minutes, Harry said,

"Er, could we go now? I kind of want to get to Oz."

They set out again, always looking for the green emerald castle, which was home for the wizard of Oz.

They only had a few minutes more of traveling, for in five minutes time, the castle came into view, and Draco shouted (while pointing),

"Look! It's Oz!"
