The Black Heir

~Chapter1~

Remus arrived at Number 5, Magic Cove Rd to find the house near ruins. The Death Eaters must have beaten me here he thought. "Lumos," he whispered as he entered the house through the nonexistent front door. There was no one in the kitchen or the entry way and no one in the dining room. He reached the living room when he nearly tripped over something soft. He lowered his wand to the ground and nearly passed out. In the wand light, he saw the lifeless form of Severus Snape. Even though he knew the truth about Snape, he sill felt cold and ill at the sight of death.

"Pitiful, isn't he?" said a cool voice from the sofa in front of him. Remus looked up and saw a young girl, about 16, her honey blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail, her deep blue eyed were looking at Snape's body with disgust. She had her father's eyes.

"You killed him?" Remus asked her.

"No, death was too good for him, he's just stunned. Why? Is he a friend of yours?" She narrowed her eyes at Remus suspiciously.

"No, but I have to take you to London."

"Who sent you?"

"I was sent by the Order."

"The Order?"

"There is no time to explain, but if you come with me, I can explain everything," Remus said.

"Funny," said Lily, "I don't believe you. Why do you need me to go to London?"

"It's a long story, but I can't explain here."

"And why not?"

"Because it's too risky. What happened here?"

"I'm the one who asks questions here."

"Why can't I ask questions?"

"Fine, one question."

"What happened here?"

"That fucking Death Eater Snape thought he would waltz right in and kidnap me."

"Yea, I figured as much"

"So, we dueled, and I beat him with a stunner, serves him right for taking my wand away from me."

"He took your wand but you stunned him? You used wandless magic?"

"Yea, over here, our Aurors are trained for wandless and nonverbal spells, even at the same time."

"You're an Auror?"

"You already asked your one question, well I gave you two bonus questions, but that's your limit."

"OK, fine."

"What's your name?" Lily asked.

"Remus Lupin," he said. "But we need to leave now."

"Oh, you knew my father then, Sirius Black?"

"Yes, we were good friends, I'm sorry about the loss."

"Bullshit," said Lily, "You should have seen the parties over here, when the news came that the murderer Sirius Black was dead, no one cared that he was innocent. NO ONE CARED!!" She shouted the last part. Then she looked directly into his eyes, as though searching for something, and Remus had the strange sensation of being x-rayed.

"Lily?" came a voice from upstairs, a voice very familiar to Remus. "Lily, is it safe to come down? Who are you talking to?"

"Everything is OK, James," Lily called to the voice, "come on downstairs, there is someone here to take us to London."

"Why are we going to London?"

"I don't know, but we have to."

The man came into the room and Remus nearly passed out from shock.

"Moony?"

"Prongs?"

By the wand light, Remus Lupin could make out the smiling face of James Potter.
