Author's Note:
I like to read HP fiction, but this is my first time attempting to write it. Be kind and keep an open mind.

Blue was her color. Her room, her clothes, everything was blue or had some blue on it. Which was why she had been surprised to be sorted into Gryffindor. Not that red and gold were all bad. It was also the reason why she studied all the time, so she wouldn't have to stare at all the red that surrounded her daily in the common room and the dorm she shared with the other girls. She couldn't remember their names, they loved red and they had stopped trying to talk to her because all she did was study. She did, however, know the names of three people in Gryffindor. Harry Potter: The-Boy-Who-Lived; Hermione Granger: The Smart One (and her rival); and Ronald Weasley, The Other One. Hermione was always in the lead with her grades. So what if she could get only 114% on her tests, Hermione managed to get that 115%.

Alyniana punched her bed, causing the book she was reading to snap shut. She looked around and sighed. Her room was neat and tidy and the blue flowered curtains were flowing gently with the night breeze. This is the last night of my blue room before going back to Hogwarts. Alyniana thought. The last time I go to Hogwarts, the last time I stay in my shell and the year that I will beat Hermione. She sighed again as she got up off her bed and walked over to her mirror. Her brilliant blue eyes flecked with silver stared back at her as she surveyed herself. Her body had finally gotten curves in all the right places and a few days on the beach had darkened her pale London color. Her hair was jet black, and she loved it. It was just past her butt now and was soft as silk.

A shrill cry pierced the silence and she stopped her examination of herself. Casper, her snowy owl, flew in the window and landed on her desk Alyniana walked over and examined the letter he had brought. It bore the Hogwarts seal. There was only one thing it could mean. She hurriedly fed Casper an owl treat, anxious to open the letter he had brought. She slid her knife under the seal and then pulled out the letter.

To Alyniana Greenleaf.

Congratulations, you have been chosen as Head Girl. You will have numerous responsibilities this year. You will be introduced to the Head Boy on the train ride to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Indeed, you may already know or know of him.

Enclosed is your badge, remember to wear it.

Minerva McGonagall

Yes!! Hogwarts, here I come! she thought excitedly.

**************************

Alyniana stepped through the barrier onto Platform 9¾ with an air of confidence and then promptly went to the train. After stashing her stuff in the Head Girl/Head Boy compartment, she sat down and pulled out her compact. She had worn makeup only because it went perfectly with her favorite outfit. She sighed as she looked down at her bright blue tank top and a sapphire skirt. She had to argue with her mom to wear it and nobody was going to see it here anyway. She looked at her watch, and saw that there was twenty minutes until the train would leave. She decided to walk to the end of the train and back before settling in for the long ride. She exited her compartment and started walking down the peach and red corridors. She shuddered under the detested colors surrounding her. When she was on her way back, she was walking through the fifth car and a blur with red hair streaked by her, making her fall backwards into...a hard chest. The person getting in saved her from a nasty tumble off the train. A moment passed before Alyniana found her voice.

"Thank you," she said as she tried to get off of the person's muscular chest. The stranger assisted her and when she was on her feet again, she turned around. Blue eyes met cold gray eyes and they were caught in an awkward gaze. She broke it first.

"Thank you again. I must be going now." She stumbled and then hurriedly walked away.

Draco Malfoy stared after the girl with fascination. She has great fashion sense, he thought, but then caught himself, bad Draco! She had the nerve to bump into you, say thank you and dash off. She did not apologize! His thoughts scolded. It was infuriating. No one crossed Draco Malfoy, male or female, but it was her eyes (and her body) that fascinated him. They were such an intense yet innocent, and the pure shade of blue made him feel like she could see inside his body and into his soul.

Goyle nudged him, well, actually shoved him, startling his reverie. He started to walk to his regular compartment, thoughts of the girl haunting his mind. Crabbe, Goyle and he had just finished putting their trunks away when the train started to pull away from the station. Draco sat down and prepared for the regular and uneventful trip.

********************************

Alyniana jumped when someone knocked at the door. She waved the person in, and then turned around to greet them. It was Professor McGonagall. She surveyed the compartment before looking at Alyniana in discomfiture.

"Where is the Head Boy, Alyniana?" McGonagall asked curtly.

"I do not know Professor," she replied.

"Well, make sure that he's here before we arrive at Hogwarts. I would like to speak with both of you."

"Yes Professor."

"Good. I shall see you in an hour," McGonagall said and walked off.

Stupid Head Boy, doesn't even know enough to be here, Alyniana thought angrily. She pulled out her wand and created a mini, fairy type form of herself. She pointed at it, telling it what to say when it found the Head Boy and sent it off.

******************************

Draco was about to go and torment Weasel, Potty and the Mudblood when something hit him on his chest. He looked down and saw a strange, little, blue thing. He raised it to his ear so he could understand the tiny squeaks it was shouting.

"Head Boy...Head Boy, are you listening to me?"

"Yes," Draco said, slightly amused.

"Do you remember that there is a Head Boy/Head Girl compartment on this train?"

"Yes, I remember."

"THEN WHY AREN'T YOU THERE RIGHT NOW?"

"Oops," he replied guiltily," I guess I was distracted. I'll go fetch my things."

"Never mind your blasted things. They'll get to Hogwarts anywhere they are. You just come along now."

"Yes ma'am," he said, turning to head to the first car. The thing flew behind him and started pushing him with surprising strength.

Hermione watched as the wretched Malfoy started to head towards her. She was tempted to drop her search for the snack trolley and rushed back to warn Ron and Harry. Then she saw the most unusual sight. Malfoy was arguing with himself, though not loud enough for her to overhear. She observed as he lost whatever battle he was fighting and turned around, walking away from her. She followed him discreetly to the first car where he stopped and entered the middle compartment, the Head Boy and Head Girl one. Hermione gasped. Malfoy was HEAD BOY?! she thought incredulously. Well, there goes the school year! Although I wonder who the Head Girl is... She ran as fast as she could back to her compartment. She had to tell Ron and Harry. They would never believe it.

*********************************************************

Alyniana, now dressed in her school robes, looked up as the Head Boy entered the compartment, followed closely by her search fairy, and Professor McGonagall.

"Mr. Malfoy. Good to see you decided to join Miss Greenleaf. As you have been told, you are the Head Boy, Mr. Malfoy and you are the Head Girl, Miss Greenleaf," she said. "With these titles come great responsibilities. Are you prepared to handle this task?"

"Yes Professor," chorused Alyniana and Draco.

"Good. Now as you know, you are no longer responsible for just Slytherin or Gryffindor. You are now responsible for the whole school. This means you will have your rooms in a hallway that is accessible to everyone. Tonight after the feast, you will be lead to your rooms and you shall have the night off. However, we, the teachers, would like it if you studied the Head Code of Conduct. Understood?"

"Yes Professor," they chorused again.

"Very well then, until tonight," she said and left them alone in the compartment.

"Paired with a Gryffindor, this is just great," Draco said.

"What's so bad about it?" Alyniana asked, recognizing him as the guy from before.

"They are all stuck-up and goody-goodies," he replied.

"I suppose we are, but it's better than being obnoxious and stupid," she stated.

"I'll have you know I had the third highest mark last year," he bragged.

"Whoop-de-doo, I had the second. I would have been first if it wasn't for that stupid Granger," she said.

"You hate Granger?" he asked with a hint of surprise present in his voice.

"Yes, and I detest Potter and Weasley too. Those names were all I ever heard about while I sat in the common room to do homework in the first week," she said, "'And the Boy-Who-Lived actually winked at me. Tee hee.' 'I hear Hermione and Harry are dating.' Jeez, I couldn't stand it and I started staying in the library and then run up to my room before bed."

"Wow. I didn't think that anyone but Slytherins hated the Trio," Draco said.

"Yeah, well the Trio is one of the two reasons I have great marks," Alyniana said.

"What is the other, if I may ask?" said Draco.

"That everything in Gryffindor is red and gold," she replied.

Draco burst out laughing. "What's your color then?" he asked in between breaths.

"Blue, I like everything to be blue," she answered, "it's just so calming and so my personality."

"Neat. The name's Draco, Draco Alexander Malfoy. What's yours, Miss Greenleaf?" he questioned.

"I'm Alyniana Marie Greenleaf," she stated.

"So, Alyniana, what do you like other than blue?"

She looked out the window and noticed that the countryside was slowing down. They were finally there, at last. "That's a secret," she said as she stood up and exited the compartment, leaving Draco to stare.

This is going to be one interesting year, he thought as he vacated the compartment, and then left the train together with the other students. It will definitely be interesting.

It was already outside the train, a variety of numerous students surrounding him, when he saw the Head carriage starting to drive away, with Alyniana laughing and waving at him. He then shook his head and started chasing after it. She saw him trying to reach the carriage, so she ordered it to stop. Draco burst in the carriage ready to strangle her, his face red with anger, but just then the carriage started with a jolt and he fell back onto the seat behind him. Alyniana started laughing again at Draco attempting to straighten up but only getting more entangled in his robes. He started laughing at himself and when she offered to help, the carriage went over a bump and she fell onto the floor.

**********************************************************

The sorting and feast were over and Dumbledore was making his speech.

"For all you first years, and those older students who've forgotten, the Dark Forest located on the edge of these grounds is off limits to anyone not wanting to suffer the consequences. Mr. Filch has asked me to remind you that magic should not be used in the corridors. Quidditch tryouts are in two weeks. Students wishing to play should talk to Madame Hooch. And lastly, this year's Head Boy and Head Girl are Draco Malfoy and Alyniana Greenleaf. Goodnight," he said and sat down.

The Great Hall was buzzing with conversation. Across the hall, Draco caught Alyniana's gaze and motioned towards the door. They both stood up and walked over to the door. Everyone in the hall went silent as Professor McGonagall met the pair and led them out. Alyniana watched the current path they took to their rooms. She didn't want to get lost in a part of the castle she had never explored before. McGonagall stopped outside a statue of a dragon and lion and muttered the password "cheese doodles". Alyniana snickered.

"Do you have a problem, Miss Greenleaf?" McGonagall asked.

"No Professor," she replied.

"Good. Obviously you can change it, as long as you both agree on it and you may tell no one. If you so much as utter the password you choose to anyone other than a teacher, the password will not work and you shall have to see Dumbledore, Snape or myself," she said.

"Yes Professor," Draco and Alyniana said.

McGonagall led them into the biggest common room either had ever seen. There were volumes of books lining the shelves that stretched to the ceiling, multi-colored couches (mostly orange and yellow), a balcony on either side of the room, a high ceiling enchanted like the one in the great Hall, a fireplace and a mini-kitchenette area. There were two mahogany staircases leading up to their bedrooms and a small second level.

"Mr. Malfoy, your room is up the left staircase, Ms. Greenleaf, the right one. Each bedroom has an adjourning bathroom, so no fighting in the morning. You can decorate your areas of the room in any fashion you like, just keep it tasteful and clean. The Head Code of Conduct is on the coffee table in front of the fireplace. Goodnight," She then said as she left the room.

"So Miss Greenleaf," Draco drawled, "what password should we agree on for the first little while?"

"Well Mr. Malfoy," Alyniana replied, "I think we should go with 'Trioless.'"

They both burst out laughing, at the password and the formalities. When they were finally calm enough to do anything else, they went to set the password, trying really hard not to laugh.

*******************************

Draco was examining his room. The tall, wooden door had a lock on it with a big ancient key to fit in it. The ceiling was very high, but considering the height of the canopy on the bed, it had to be. Every piece of fabric in the room, the curtains, the bedspread, everything, was still orange; obviously the work of the previous Head Boy. He pulled out his wand and changed the fabric to black and silver. There was a huge armoire to hang his school robes in and an equally huge dresser for his uniforms. He had a large oak desk with a comfy leather chair and a grand window/balcony area. He stepped out into the night and looked around. From his balcony, Draco could see the lake and the Forbidden Forest. Nice view, he thought. I can hop off the balcony and fly to the Quidditch pitch if I wanted to. Walking back into his room, he decided to examine the bathroom. A shower was in a corner of the bathroom and the toilet in another. There was a counter with a mirror behind him and in the center of the room was a tub just slightly bigger than the prefects' one. Again all the fabric and towels were orange. Draco sighed as he waved his wand and changed the color.

Alyniana's room was the same as Draco's...except that the colors from the last Head Girl were pink and yellow. She immediately whipped out her wand and made everything different shades of blue. Then she went hunting for anything else with those evil colors. She entered the bathroom and was utterly shocked that she let out a tiny scream.

Draco heard it and came running to her room, wondering what was going on. He saw her standing in the bathrooom doorway and approached. His eyes grew wide when he looked in. The entire room was a bright pink, with neon pink and yellow towels. The many pictures in the room had yellow frames and all the images were of pink and yellow shapes. Not as shocked as Alyniana, he hurriedly waved his wand changing everything to silver, white and blue and the original paintings. It took a moment for Alyniana to snap out of it and then she hugged Draco.

"Thank you," she said.

"No problem," replied Draco. "Want to study the Code of Conduct now?"

"Sure, just give me a minute," she said.

"Alright," he said and walked out of her room.

Alyniana shuddered as she left the bathroom. Honestly, who loves pink THAT much? she thought as she slipped out of her robes, revealing her earlier outfit. She glanced at her watch and saw that it was already 10:00 pm. She quickly wrapped her hair into a messy bun and left her room.

*********************

By the time Alyniana came down to the common room, Draco had turned all the couches and curtains either black or blue and had made some tea. He has his feet on the coffee table in front of the fireplace, a cup of tea in his hand and he had his robes off. She poured herself a cup of tea from the tea service and plopped on the couch beside him. On his lap was a very, very thick book.

"Hey," she said, getting his attention. "Thanks again. That was the second time you saved me today."

"Second? When was the first?" he wondered aloud.

"You know, on the train when that red-head shoved past..." she replied, trailing off as she noticed he didn't recognize her.

He turned and looked at her. Same outfit, same hair, he thought and then looked at her eyes, same eyes.

"Oh, so that was you," he said, "You know you gave me a nasty bruise from that."

"I did?" she asked sheepishly. "I'm so sorry, Draco."

"Just for that and the other stunt with the carriage, you have to read the manual out loud," he said, generating a pout from Alyniana.

"No way, that won't work," he said while chuckling lightly, "You're reading it." He dropped the book into her lap.

"Fine," she said and opened the book. "Rule number one: no students in your bedrooms..."

***************************

Three hours later, the fire was starting to burn low. Draco was almost asleep and Alyniana was finishing her third glass of water. She looked at the book and nudged Draco with her elbow.

"Hey, it's the last rule," she said excitedly.

"Great... so read it already," he replied.

"Rule number 1,210: the portrait portals to the common rooms on the second floor are to be used only in a state of emergency by other students or for your visiting purposes. You cannot spy on the dorm rooms of the houses and you cannot change the destination of them," she read.

"Wow, what a great rule," Draco said, sarcasm dripping off every word and then yawned, "I'm going to bed."

"Night Draco," Alyniana said as he stood up and walked up his staircase. She used her wand to put the dishes in the kitchenette and then slowly made her way upstairs. She changed into her favorite blue pajamas and then crawled into her silk bed. She fell into a dreamless sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
