Chapter Seven

Quills and Quidditch

Hours latter when the Three of them entered the common room after detention, Harry was surprised when Arora began searching her pockets. "Oh no! I must have dropped it!"

"Dropped what?"

"My Quick Quotes Quill!"

"Oh," Harry said yawning, "I'll get it tomorrow morning, Potions class first thing."

"Oh would you! I kind of programmed it to insult only Snape." Harry sighed and disappeared up the stairs to his dormitory.

The next morning Harry did see the quill, but it was in the hands of Draco Malfoy. First in the room Malfoy had seen the quill, picked it up, asked, and had been granted permission to us it for taking notes.

During the class Harry was pared with Malfoy to 'Keep him out of Trouble' and thus was given a front row seat for the chaos of the morning.

Malfoy never noticed what the Quill was doing. He was too busy passing and receiving notes from various Slytherin Girls to wonder why the Quill suddenly wrote:

"Wolfshode and Hazleroot

can be both poison and

antidote, depending on the

given proportions." Says

large nosed, greasy hared,

Hogwarts professor Snape.

Nor did he notice when after switching to a new page it scribbled:

The beak nosed master

of potions slinks around

the classroom like an

overgrown bat. Severe and

thoroughly disliked, his over

worked students tend

to compare him to a

vulture. The similarities are

endless, although the vulture

has the better manners.

As the quill went on Harry began to snicker uncontrollably, causing Snape to pause by the desk. "Mr. Potter, do you find my class funny?"

"No sir the Quill!" Snape glanced at the parchment and Malfoy paled as he snatched it up and began to read. His face contorted in fury.

"Detention Mr. Malfoy! I never thought you could be this foolish."

"But sir . . ."

"Are you not aware that these things have to be told what to write? Ten points."

"It's not mine!"

"Are you suggesting theft of another students property?"

"No sir I . . ." In the confusion Harry managed to snatch the quill and hide it in his bag.

To Harry's surprise he was greeted by a very enthusiastic Ginny when he arrived in the Great Hall for lunch.

"Did it work?"

"Did what work?"

"The Quill, what happened?" Harry burst out laughing.

"You planned that?" she nodded, " well it gained Malfoy a detention. How'd you pull it off?"

"Arora left it just out side the door, and then we staged a conversation. Malfoy did the rest himself." Grinning Ron walked up and gave his sister an affectionate slap on the back.

"Relay Gin, that's better than the time Fed and George pulled the exploding Bludger bit in the middle of the Gryffindor Slytherin match!" Harry laughed and picked up a sandwich.

Blaise laid back on his bed listening to Draco complain. Rolling over he spoke, "All these years of getting away with everything and you complain about one detention? Had it been any other teacher you wouldn't have gotten away with half as much."

"Had it been any other teacher I wouldn't have tried!" Blaise raised an eyebrow and went back to studying his notes.

Weeks later Harry stalked around the Quidditch pitch waiting for the rest of the team and Fred and Angelina to show up. They were starting Quidditch tryouts and Fed and Angelina had agreed to help. After all Angelina had been captain last year. Ron and Natalie McDonald (a third year) had been Chaser reserves last year. They both would become starters. That left only one Chaser and two beaters they needed.

One of the locker room doors opened and Harry looked up expecting the team, Fred, or Angelina. Instead it was Raven. He smiled, "can I help you?"

She blushed and looked at her feet. Harry had learned over the past month that she only did this when she wanted something. "Harry I ," she gulped, "I was wondering if I might . . . ifImightbeabletobetheanouncer?"

"what?"

"If I could commentate for the games?"

"Oh, you'll have to speak with McGonagall. She was going to watch tryouts so stick around for awhile, see what she says." Raven nodded. Five minutes latter everybody finally showed up and Harry was able to get things started.

Three hours latter harry sighed. They had only found two of the needed three players. Emma Dobbs, a third year, for Chaser and a second year, David Kent, for one of the Beaters. Of course neither of them had been told yet. They still needed a second beater and only three candidates were left.

Before he had a chance to call the next person onto the field Arora ran out, "I just saw the Slytherin team on their way out!"
