Four days after the events of the epilogue of Veil of Memories, Harry and Ginny remain troubled over the fate of their daughter, and they would worry more if they really knew what was happening to her. But soon a much larger problem will emerge and the fate of the wizarding world will once again be thrown into Harry's hands.

After realizing the truth about Dumbledore's death, Harry becomes overwhelmed with the enormity of the task ahead of him, but unbeknownst to Harry, trouble has already started to brew much closer to home.

While Harry and Ginny ponder their many troubles, Caroline finds herself persuaded by a mysterious stranger to re-start the D.A. But what does the stranger really want and what does it have to do with the mysterious chalice, whose history is finally revealed.

Siosia and her friends begin to suspect that something is not quite right at Hogwarts; Harry finally asks Remus for help in finding Dumbledore's successor and is led to a very unlikely source.

Harry remains skeptical that Slughorn is the best choice to take over Dumbledore's position on the island; Siosia and her friends decide to investigate the mysterious Professor Derius.
