I'd like to thank Frooney, Suz, Jen, for introducing me to the freaky fan fic world! All my friends who might pop up in this book, hope you're not offended! :-)

Chapter 2

The sun was just about to set and the Potter garden was full of cheers and celebrations. It was the twin's birthday party and there was not enough room for everyone inside. At one end of the long rectangular table sat Robin and James, and at the other end were Ginny and Harry. Everyone was full of cake and presents had been opened, except for two.

Robin was talking to Tabitha and Simon (Fred and Angelina's elder son) about Hogwarts. Tabitha was going to be in her second year and Simon in his third.

"Everyone's scared on their first day, don't worry." Tabitha took after Hermione and had long fuzzy mouse brown hair that she tried to control by tying it up. She had her father's skills (Oliver) on the Quidditch pitch and had just got into the Gryffindor team.

"I can't help it. What if I don't get into Gryffindor? What if I'm a Slytherin? God that would be awful. Imagine being in the same house as Invidia! Urgh!" Robin cringed and shovelled a big fork of sausage into her mouth!

"I'll eat my Dad's underpants if you're in Slytherin!" Simon joked.

"That's disgusting!" Tabitha frowned.

"I'll remember that when I'm friends with the Malfoys!" Robin shuddered at the thought of it.

James, Troy and Alan were talking about Quidditch, again! Alan was Simon's younger brother and was going to Hogwarts with Robin and James.

They all stopped talking when Harry and Ginny stood up at the other end of the table.

"It's time for the final presents, you two," Ginny announced.

"I'll just go and get them shall I?" Harry ran off into the kitchen and came out with two very large oval shaped bundles covered by white sheets floating behind him. They looked very much like ghosts. They landed on the table, one in front of each twin. They counted to three and removed the sheets in unison to find two cages with a tawny owl in front of James and a snowy owl in front of Robin. They were both speechless.

"Well? What do you think?" said Ginny after what seemed like hours of silence.

"They're brilliant!" Robin and James announced together.

"What you gonna call them?" Fred blurted out.

"I don't know?" Robin whispered, still gazing at her owl in amazement.

"Can we let them out?" James was eager to see them fly.

"Yes of course!" Ginny ran over to the cages and watched as they both opened the cage doors and saw the owls fly out into the dusky sky.

"Wow!" James ran out to the middle of the garden to get a better view of his tawny owl. Robin ran after him.

It was getting late and the children were messing around on some old brooms trying to play Quidditch with a muggle rugby ball and golf balls.

Ginny walked over to Harry, "Are we ok?"

"We'll talk tonight," he answered bluntly.

"No, we can talk now." Ginny dragged him into the kitchen. "You've been avoiding me all day and I cannot wait until tonight so we will talk now!" She talked very fast and Harry had to guess on half of the things she said.

"Ok, ok" He avoided her eyes. "But not here, on the roof." He Apparated onto the flat roof above the attic and waited for Ginny to appear.

"I'm here." He turned around and saw here standing by the chimney.

"Well, what do you want to talk about?" he muttered.

"About us." She looked up at him. "Are you angry?"

"Of course I'm angry."

"I know, and I'm sorry." She sat down on the chimney. "I was lonely and drunk. A lethal combination! Draco, he was weird."

"What do mean, weird?" He sat down next to her. "He's always weird!"

"No, I mean, nice." She gritted her teeth. "He told me that he thought I was beautiful and, and that he loved me." Harry snorted.

"And you believed him!"

"He didn't sound like he was lying. Like I said, he was weird. I thought he had changed. I really did." Tears welled up in her eyes. "I felt so stupid when I woke up the next morning and he was gone."

"Why?" He turned to face her.

"Because, because... oh I don't know, I just knew he had been lying and I felt so... so betrayed."

"Well, join the club. How do you think I feel?"

"I'm sorry, how many times do I have to say, I'm sorry? Ok? I really am sorry." Teardrops dribbled down her cheeks slowly. He smiled.

"I know." He brought his hand slowly up to her face and brushed a tear from her cheek softly.

"Where's Mum?" Robin asked Hermione.

"Good question!"

"And Dad for that matter!"

"Another good question!" Hermione sat down next to Robin. "Had a good birthday?"

She nodded her head.

"Your Dad's sorry about shouting before you know."

"Oh, I know. I just wish he'd tell me what it was all about." She looked up at Hermione. "Can you?"

"I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait until they want to tell you."

Robin raised her eyebrows. "How many times have I heard that before?!"

"Excited?"

Robin frowned. "About what?"

"School! You've only got four weeks until you go. Tabitha can't wait to show you around."

"Yeah."

"You don't look very excited!"

"Oh, I am, just a bit..."

"Nervous?" Hermione smiled as Robin nodded her head. "I was too!"

Colaine (George's wife) walked up to Hermione holding her swollen stomach with her hand. She was heavily pregnant and expecting the baby in about one month.

"Hi, have you seen Harry and Ginny?" She sat down next to Hermione.

"Nope! Sorry."

"It's just, we'd better be going. It's getting late." She was not a witch but a very pretty muggle. She was African but came to England to find work, and work wasn't the only thing she found! George fell in love with her when him and his brother (Fred) were trying out some new 'sweets' on gullible muggles in the Streets of London. George took her in when she was turning purple after eating a blueberry sweet!

"Well, I know where they might be. I'll go get them!" Hermione Apparated onto the roof top to find Harry and Ginny looking very cozy!

"Ahem," she cleared her throat.

Ginny jumped off Harry's lap looking very embarrassed!

"Oh, don't mind me!" Hermione raised her eyebrows and smiled. "I just thought I'd better tell you that guests are beginning to leave."

Robin climbed into her bed yawning. James stood by the window gazing out at the moon.

"Aren't you tired yet?" Robin said yawning again.

"Yes."

"Then, why aren't you going to bed?"

"I'm just happy!" He closed the window and pulled back the curtains. He walked over to the bedside table where his new wand sat.

"Yeah, me too." She smiled.

He got into his bed pulling his blue quilt over himself.

It was September the first and the Potter house was in its usual chaotic state with Ginny screaming up the stairs to hurry everyone up and Harry burning the toast!

"Have you seen my green socks?" Robin tore the quilt off her bed searching frantically.

"Nope." James looked under his bed to see if he'd missed anything.

"Well, I got them ready last night, and they can't have walked away so I suggest you find them!" she snapped.

"Robin, chill out, they're only a pair of mouldy green socks!"

"No, they're my lucky green socks. I need to be lucky today!" She opened her suitcase throwing out its contents.

Ginny walked in. "Robin!" She jumped down onto the floor folding up all the creased clothes.

"I can't find my green socks!" she complained.

"They're downstairs. Now put everything back, we haven't time for this!"

"What are they doing there?"

"They had a hole in them, I sewed them up last night. Now hurry up, you should have been organised last night! The train won't wait you know!" Ginny zipped the suitcase back up. "James, take your things down stairs so your Dad can load them in the car."

He sighed and muttered something that Ginny thought sounded a lot like 'women!' Robin raced downstairs grabbing her socks and pulled them over her feet, nearly knocking her brother over in the process!

Finally the car was loaded with two suitcases, two owls, Harry, Ginny and of course the twins! They were running late after dashing out of the car for forgotten wands, books, pyjamas but they finally made it with five minutes to spare at King's Cross Station. Harry pushed the trolley stacked with all their luggage and Ginny walked ahead with Robin and James either side of her.

"Now you'll be good won't you?"

"Yes Mum."

"Don't do anything stupid."

"Yes Mum..."

"Ginny, they'll be fine!" Harry interrupted as they got to platforms nine and ten.

"So we just walk through?" James looked the solid barrier up and down nervously.

"Take a run up, it's always easier that way," Harry reassured them.

"Go through together, we'll be right behind you." Ginny gave Robin a little push so she was standing next to her brother. They looked at each other and nodded. They both started to gather speed. Robin closed her eyes. James squeezed Robin's hand tightly as they disappeared into the barrier.

She opened her eyes and saw the bright red glistening steam train with smoke puffing out of a big funnel at the top. James smiled.

Harry and Ginny walked through the barrier. "This brings back memories." Harry looked at the train and remembered the day he looked at it for the first time, nervous, excited and not knowing what to expect.

"Yeah, seems just like yesterday doesn't it?" Ginny stood gawping at it.

"Hello!" Hermione and Oliver walked up behind them.

"Hi."

"I was getting scared for a minute, that you wouldn't be here on time."

"We nearly weren't!" Ginny replied.

"Where's Tabitha?" Robin searched the crowd.

"She's gone to get Alan and Simon... look there they are." Oliver waved at them, Angelina and Fred beaming behind the three kids. Simon and Alan both had bright red hair like all the Weasleys!

"Go on you lot, get a good carriage." Harry gave Robin and James a pat on the back. Ginny knelt down and squeezed them both tightly so they could hardly breathe!

Tabitha and Simon led them onto the train with the three nervous first years behind them.

"Put all your stuff in the corner," Simon pointed. "I'm going to find Matt. You'll be all right won't you?"

"Yes, yes. It's fine." Alan pushed out of the compartment and shut the door behind him laughing.

"I'll be back in a minute, I need to say hello to Hillary and Joe." Tabitha disappeared into the train corridor waving at her friends.

Robin, James and Alan were left in the compartment. They stood in silence for a while looking around until Alan said, "We'd better sit down then!" The twins nodded feeling a bit stupid!

A girl peered around their door and came in shyly. "Is it all right if I join you?"

"Yeah sure." Robin stood up and moved her owl cage onto the floor so she could sit down.

"Thanks," she mumbled.

"My name's Robin, this is my brother James and Alan is a friend."

"You all know each other then?"

They all nodded.

"Oh, I'm Georgina Hawkson."

Tabitha came back in the compartment. "Is it all right if I sit next door?"

* * * * *

"Are you all from wizard families?" Georgina fiddled with her wavy blonde hair.

"Yeah. Are you?" James replied.

"No, I don't know anything."

"We don't know any magic if that's what you're worried about." Alan stood up to open their window. "I think we're about to move." The sound of the engine was getting louder. They all gathered around the window to see their parents waving and crying. They watched their parents get smaller until the train disappeared into a dark tunnel and out through green fields. They all sat back down again.

"Isn't there supposed to be food?" Alan stood up and poked his head out of the door and down the corridor.

"Yes, but I think that's for lunch. It's only half eleven!" Robin laughed.

"What's your name again?" Georgina smiled. "I'm not good with names."

"I'm Robin Potter."

She nodded her head. "And your James and Alan?"

"Yep!" Alan sat back down.

"Do you know how long the train journey is?"

Robin shook her head. "All I know is that we will arrive around tea time. That's what Tabitha told me."

"Who's Tabitha?"

"She's in the year above us."

They all chatted happily about their families and James told Georgina about the different houses in Hogwarts.

"I bet I'll be in Hufflepuff!" Alan complained.

"Better than Slytherin!"

"What's so bad about Slytherin anyway?" Georgina raised one eyebrow. She did it out of habit when she was confused.

"You don't want to be in Slytherin. Not one wizard has turned out good from there!" Robin explained.

"What do you mean by good? Don't they know anything?"

"No, they know too much, and they're all ugly! You won't be in Slytherin." Alan didn't realise he'd complimented her but she blushed anyway.

Robin smiled. "They know too much about the dark arts."

"The dark arts?" Georgina felt a bit stupid about not knowing anything but she felt that she'd rather ask this lot than anyone else.

"It's like evil stuff. How kill hundreds of people with just one spell!" James laughed.

"That's horrible. Can you really do that?"

"If you knew how. But you don't wanna go to Azkaban!"

"Wizarding prison," Robin said.

"What's so bad about Azkaban?" Georgina found herself getting more and more confused as the conversation progressed!

"They have these guards called dementors. They're really scary. I don't know how to describe them." Robin looked at her watch. It was twelve thirty. "Should be getting lunch soon."

"Good, I'm starving!" Alan patted his stomach hungrily.

Right on cue a small podgy woman came past the compartment with her usual trolley filled with every kind of sweets imaginable. Most of the weird sweets came from Alan's Dad and Uncle George!

"Don't touch those one, I saw what happened to my Mum when he 'accidentally' left one of those around!" Alan warned James as he was looking at some 'crocodile crunchers'.

"I didn't think they'd allow them here!" Robin laughed.

"Oh no, Dumbledore's all for them!"

"Is he the headmaster?" Georgina said while rummaging around for her purse.

"Yes, he's been there for ages now. No one's sure how old he is!"

They were all having fun going through all the different foods and Georgina got the shock of her life when she opened the chocolate frog!

Tabitha came into their compartment when it started to get dark. "I think we're nearly there now so I'd get into your robes if I were you." She was ready dressed and looking spic and span as usual. She was like her Mum Hermione and was very organised.

They were all dressed in their new robes. Georgina's was far too big and she seemed to be lost in material. Robin looked out of the window and watched the trees as the train slowed down and stopped in Hogsmeade station. They all stepped off the train and the icy wind nipped their cheeks red as they stood out in the freezing air.

"Firs'-years over here!" a booming voice shouted above the chatter and the twins, Alan and Georgina walked over to a giant of a man.

Georgina's eyes were wide with fright. She had never seen such a huge man!

"Don't worry, it's Hagrid. He's a good friend of my Dads," Robin whispered to reassure her.

"Hello, Robin, James!" He smiled down at them. "Another Weasley then!" He laughed down at Alan's red head.

Hagrid started to walk down towards a black glistening lake and beckoned the first years to follow.

"Where are we going?" Alan hissed.

"I dunno." James looked around for his sister. On the stoney beach lay lots of wooden rowing boats.

"Four to boat!" He took up one boat for himself as the first years clambered into the rickety boats.

Robin, James, Alan and Georgina climbed into a boat in silence and soon found their boat gliding silently across the lake looking in amazement at the huge castle with what seemed like hundreds of turrets getting bigger and bigger in front of their eyes.

Hagrid led them up the big stone steps. Robin recognised Invidia's silvery blonde hair from behind and shuddered remembering that day in Diagon Alley.

"This is where I leave you!" Hagrid winked at the twins and went back out through the big wooden doors, leaving the nervous first years shivering in the hall.

Georgina's hands shook in her robe's pockets and she gazed up at the stone ceiling, trying to take her mind off what might come next. Robin looked at her and tried to see what she was looking at but looked back down again when a tall, slim lady marched in through the door in front of them.

"My name is Professor Winterson." She had dark brown shiny hair cut short above her chin. She did not look pretty but had very defined features making her look very attractive. "I am the deputy headmistress and am here for any problems you may have but do not take kindly to 'tell tales!'" Her voice was sharp and the first years hung on to her every word. "You are going to go into the main hall now to be sorted..."

Robin and James exchanged nervous glances. Georgina squeezed her eyes shut breathing deeply and looked as if she was going to pass out!

Professor Winterson marched back through the large door and the first years followed nervously.

As they filed into the Main Hall, Professor Dumbledore stood up gazing down at them. His eyes twinkled behind his half moon glasses. James looked up at him and felt a strange warmth spread through his chest. He smiled knowing why his parents had always spoken of Dumbledore like the Grandfather he never had!

In the middle of the Hall sat an old battered hat. Georgina nearly fell over when it opened a rip above its rim into a large mouth and sung a song about the four houses in Hogwarts.

Professor Winterson stepped forwards holding a long piece of parchment.

"When I call your name, step forwards and put on the sorting hat." She cleared her throat.

"Sean Alcote."

A small boy with short blonde hair shuffled to the hat. He sat down and put the hat eagerly on his head.

"SLYTHERIN!"

He jumped back up and walked briskly to the long table where all the cheers came from. Invidia smiled.

"Isobel Allia."

A girl with dark brown hair in a short bob gritted her teeth as she placed the hat over her eyes.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

She smiled as the Gryffindor table erupted with friendly cheers.

Matilda Dolabra and Vanessa Elegans were sorted into Ravenclaw and Scott Eptus and Milly Banks into Hufflepuff.

Georgina's hands started to shake again when her name was called. She tried to control them by shoving them into her robe pockets. She could feel her wand rubbing against her thumb as she walked up.

A cloud of smoke exploded from Georgina's pocket. She felt her cheeks heat up and the eyes of millions of people (maybe an exaggeration!) staring at her beetroot coloured face! She froze on the spot, squeezing her eyes tightly, praying that the ground would just swallow her up.

Professor Winterson strode over to her snatching the wand from her fingers and said sharply, "put on the hat!"

Georgina walked to the sorting hat. She could hear a few sniggers from the Slytherin table. She took a deep breath and placed the hat slowly onto her head.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

The Gryffindor table started clapping as she jogged to their table thanking God she wasn't in Slytherin.

"She'll get on just great with that lot! Better there than Slytherin. Have you seen her robes?" Invidia whispered snidely to a girl next to her who sniggered.

Alan, who was standing behind her, overheard and clenched his fists angrily.

"Invidia Malfoy."

She flicked her hair behind her shoulders and stepped towards the hat. Alan stuck his leg in front of her and she tripped forwards onto the stone floor. She quickly got back up again glancing back at Alan giving him a cold stare. He gritted his teeth trying not to laugh. James stood by him not even attempting to stop giggling. Robin smiled.

Invidia raised her eyebrows and marched up to the sorting hat. She snatched it off the chair and threw it onto her head.

"SLYTHERIN!"

She took the hat back off and smirked walking to the long cheering table.

More names were called out and more tables cheered. Finally James's name was called out.

He walked to the sorting hat staring at its tares and rips. 'What if I'm not in Gryffindor?' he thought to himself. 'What if Robin was right and we are split up?'

Robin crossed her fingers as she watched James put the hat onto his head

"GRYFFINDOR!"

A wide grin spread across his face as he took off the hat. He smiled at Robin as he sat down and watched her as she walked up to the hat.

She looked down at her feet as she sat on the chair slowly putting the hat on her head. 'Socks, prove yourself!' she muttered under her breath as the hat rested on her head.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

She sighed with relief and ran up to the cheering Gryffindors and sat down next to her brother who patted her softly on her back. They smiled at each other.

"See, we're still a pair!" he whispered.

She nodded.

Alan got increasingly nervous as he watched more first years being sorted.

"Alan Weasley."

He stepped forwards and walked up to the hat. The twins watched, gritting their teeth. Georgina bit her lip and stared as he put the ragged hat on his head.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

'Yessss!' he hissed under his breath as he ran to the table and sat next to Georgina.

Dumbledore stood up after the sorting and the hall went quiet. He chuckled behind his glasses.

"Welcome to a new school year." He smiled and straightened his half moon glasses on his crooked nose. "Once again it is the job of our staff to refill your brains with forgotten information!"

Robin and James looked at each other and smiled.

"I must remind you all to avoid anything that might kill you and obviously that means don't go into the Forbidden Forest. I'm sure Professor Filch has many new rules listed by his office so do check what will get you into detention!"

Georgina looked in amazement at his long white bearded that curled off to a point near his belt, which was strapped tightly around his purple robes.

"Oh, I would also like to welcome our new flying teacher, Professor Ferrol."

A sprightly man sat up as his name was mentioned and his wavy brown hair bounced off his shoulders. "Oh, that's enough of the chit chat, let us eat!" He sat back down next to Professor Winterson and immediately the gold plates filled with every kind of food imaginable.

"Flying teacher?" Georgina helped herself to a sausage roll.

"Yeah, on brooms." Alan grabbed the carrots from a first year called Jennifer Clemens who sat opposite him next to Isobel Allia.

"Brooms?"

"Yeah, have you never heard of Quidditch?" Alan took a huge bite out of a chicken leg.

Georgina shook her head.

"It's only the best game in the world!" James butted in. Robin laughed as Alan and James went through all the rules and told her about the different teams.

"My Dad plays for England!" James boasted.

Robin snorted. "Here we go again!"

"What?" He turned to face his sister and Alan stole a chip off his plate.

"Nothing." She knew better than to insult Quidditch in front of him. "Alan's nicking your chips by the way!"

James turned back round and stole his chips back.

"Are they always like this?!" Georgina leant over to Robin laughing.

"I'm afraid so!"

"Is your Dad Harry Potter?" A boy with sandy hair sitting opposite Robin leant over to her.

Robin nodded her head. "Why?"

"Cool! He's the best seeker ever!"

Robin rolled her eyes and sighed. "What's your name then?"

"Thomas Recens. You're Robin, right?"

"Yep! Who's he?" She pointed to the boy sitting next to Thomas who was talking to Isobel and Jenny. He looked a bit chubby and small with scruffy light brown hair.

"He's Marcus Nemo or something like that!"

Marcus overheard. "No it's Nemora actually!" he corrected him while finishing off the sprouts. "Are you two twins?" He pointed to James.

She nodded.

"I've always wanted a twin! Can you read each others minds?!" Marcus leant over to reach the potatoes. He offered some to Robin and she put three more onto her plate.

"Not really."

"I think that only happens when you're identical!" Thomas poured gravy all over his roast beef.

Robin smiled. "I don't believe in all that stuff!"

"What stuff?" James turned to face them all.

"Nothing, go back to Quidditch!" Robin laughed.

He pinched a potato off her plate.

"Careful it's hot..."

It was too late and James shoved it into his mouth immediately spitting it back out again landing on Isobel's plate. Alan burst out laughing and Georgina could not stop giggling.

"I warned you!" Robin laughed.

"That's disgusting!" Isobel shrieked at the half chewed potato on her plate. She was about to poke it off her plate but all the food vanished and replacing it was huge mountains of ice cream and traditional English puddings.

"Mmmm, pass the fudge cake, James!" Robin tapped him on his shoulder.

"Spotted Dick Please!" Georgina laughed at Alan and James's face.

"What did you just say?" Alan stared at her in disbelief.

"Spotted Dick Pudding, can you pass it to me please?!" She giggled.

"Who in their right mind would name food after something as gross as that?" James laughed while passing it to Georgina.

"If they're not talking Quidditch they're talking about 'spotted dicks'!" Robin said loudly to Isobel who smiled.

"Tell me about it! My brother at home says the most disgusting things!"

* * * * *

When everyone was full (except Alan who was never full!) all the food vanished and Dumbledore stood up.

"I can now say I'm sufficiently stuffed so I think it is time for everyone to go to their common rooms and sleep off the food!" He smiled. "Could I ask the prefects to lead the first years and tell everyone the new passwords. Sleep well and good night!" His eyes twinkled and he Apparated back to his office.

The head girl (who was in Gryffindor) stood up and went to the end of the tables where the first years were. The other prefects in Gryffindor went off with the other years leaving just her in charge of the Gryffindor first years.

She smiled showing a perfect line of white teeth.

"My name is Phoebe Linkit, and I'm Head Girl of Hogwarts, so that makes me head prefect for Gryffindor." She had long brown hair with blonde and red highlights. Alan thought she looked quite 'nice' and turned to James and winked. James laughed silently. "If you could all follow me and I'll take you to the Gryffindor Common Room where you will spend most of your time here at Hogwarts." She reminded Robin of an airhostess on an aeroplane!

They all followed her out of the main hall and up some big stone stairs leading off the main corridor. Georgina looked around and saw the many different passages lined with suits of armour and moving paintings and saw no hope of her remembering how to get back down to the main hall the next morning. The walk seemed endless and they were all getting very tired after the exhausting day. James yawned loudly in the middle of one of Phoebe's speeches about the dining hall and got a disapproving look from Alan who was gazing intently into her big blue eyes.

Eventually they arrived at the 'Fat Lady'. Robin smiled. She was looking forwards to seeing it after Tabitha's long descriptions in her letters about a year ago.

"OK, guys. Here we are." She pointed at the Fat Lady's picture frame. "This is the entrance to the Gryffindor common room. The passwords change frequently so never give them out to other houses and do not forget them." The Fat Lady rolled her eyes behind her and the first years laughed (except Alan of course!) "The password is... occulutus!"

The door swung open and they all clambered into the cosy room with a log fire crackling in front of them. James jumped into the nearest squashy chair yawning loudly.

"The girls dormitory is on the right, the boys on the left. Your stuff will be up there and any owls will be in the owlery. See you all in the morning!" She smiled and trotted over to the fire where she kissed a handsome boy with blond hair quickly on the lips and sat down on his knee.

Alan looked miserably at James. "Come on, better go to bed."

James nodded sleepily. "See you girls in the morning!" He followed Alan up the stairs.

"I think we should too, I'm knackered!" Robin yawned.

"Yeah, me too." Georgina walked up next to Robin.
