- Thanks to all my betas!!!
Dear My Daily Record of Experiences,
Today, in Herbology, Ron called me Herm again. I don't mind nicknames, I really don't, but mine are so lifeless. And degrading.
Here are just some of my nicknames to date, most of which are not used by fellow Gryffindors (Bloody Slytherins!):
-
Herm
-
Hermy
-
Bossy Boots
-
'Mione
-
Ne
-
Teacher's Pet
-
Brown Noser
-
Smarty Pants
-
Wiz Kid
-
Granger
-
Grang
-
Mudblood (Much against my liking mind you!)
-
Know-it-all
-
Show off
Although I do not like all of those, some are justifiable. Especially when Harry and Ron use them! But I heard some Hufflepuff call Ginny "Sweetums" today. It made my heart ache. Why can't I ever have a nickname like that?
Here is a list of nicknames I wish I had:
-
Sweetie
-
Hunny
-
Sugar Pie
-
Lovey Dovey
-
Hun
-
Baby
-
Babe
-
Sweets
-
Sweetie Poo
-
Sexy
-
Hunny Bunch
-
Chica
-
Sweetie Pie
-
Sugar Bear (My personal favorite. It's not too sweet, yet not too strong!)
But now you probably think I'm pathetic don't you? All I care about it my nickname. Well that is just not true! I care about more than just that! Honestly, I do.
I care about helping Neville pass Potions. Although that is looking bad at the moment. Today he blew up another potion. If he doesn't get at least one right this week, I think our points will be lower than Slytherin's again. That dishonest teacher, Snape keeps deducting points from Neville. He deducts some from me too for helping, but I gain them back in other classes.
That's another thing. It seems like all I'm good for is getting our house points, or helping people pass classes. Every time I get points added to Gryffindor, people give me pleased looks. That's a good thing, don't get me wrong. But that's the only time I get those looks!
Every time I tell Ron that I won't give him my notes anymore, he always finds a way to get them. He could try tricking me into giving them to him once again. Or his favorite, making me feel bad for him so I give them up. Or the worst of them all, he'll steal them! It's really getting annoying. I need to work harder on finding a spell that will keep them for me and only for me!
I've thought about using Imperturbable Charm but knowing Ron and his brothers, they've probably found a way around it. I mean, how else did Fred get all that information with the charm on the kitchen door during the Order meetings?
I also thought of asking Madam Pince for a few of her charms that keep certain books secret. But then I thought better of it!
Even if I did find a spell though, I'd probably still end up giving them to him. I can't help it. When he looks at me that way, you know what I'm talking about. He starts to blush, but I can tell he's trying to hold it back and he starts to crack a smile even though he's pouting. I can't help it! I fall for it every time. He's just too cute for his own good! I have no idea how he is going to pass the NEWTs next year. I honestly don't. You can't cheat on those! And I definitely won't be there to help him study all the time because I will be taking them too! And everyone knows I will be studying up to the last possible second. Too bad I gave back the Time Turner...
Maybe Harry could help him? No, why would Harry do that? Everyone knows Harry is smart, he's got to be! But why doesn't he ever offer to help anyone? Maybe he just doesn't want to be "The-Boy-Who-Lived", "The-Boy-Who-Is-Constantly-Saving-The-World", and "The-Boy-Who-Is-An-A-Student"! But personally, I do not see what is so bad with all that. I'd love to have all those titles!
Genuinely Yours,
Hermione Granger
