Author's Note:
This is my first real attempt at a fan fiction. I got the idea last year from, my "Crookshanks Diary" entries, that I made in the High Wizard Court’s “The Wizarding Diaries" Started by dingbat1. Posted on HPANA in the "Fan Fiction" Forums

Journal log: August 1993. My code name is Crookshanks, of course that is not my real name, but that is what my pet human, I mean "owner" calls me. Muggles believe I am a normal house cat, and wizards think that I am an ordinary ½ cat ½ Kneazle magical creature. But I am more, I am a guardian agent of C.A.T.S. Covert Agency Technical Service. It is a division of the Animal Auxiliary of the Order of the Phoenix. Which in fact has predated the Order by hundreds of years. The Auxiliary leader is a Phoenix by the name of Fawkes.

For those of you who don't know it, the Auxiliary was started more than 500 hundred-year ago, by a witch and a wizard who were concerned about the safety of two of their children who were Squibs. We are the result of what now would be an illegal, and a bit immoral breeding program, to provide magical guardian beasts for Squibs. Let just say that in addition to Cats, and Kneazle, that Animagi is part of my lineage and leave it at that.

About 200 years after the founding of the Auxiliary our mission expanded to include Young "Chosen Ones" of Prophecy that are destined to help protect the world, Muggle, Magical, and Squibs alike from dark wizards. Very few humans know about us, a few trustworthy Squibs, and the current "owner" of Fawkes Knows about us. We have to be very careful of wizards knowing, because if a dark wizard found out they would know who to target as children. Lastly we must be very careful around Muggles, as they may think that think our Squib charges are witches. Too many were burned at the stake, because some of us slipped up, during the early days in the 15 and 16 hundreds. Don't get me started on that showoff Puss-n-Boots.

Two years ago I was to have been assigned to the new "Chosen One," Harry Potter. However, things went very wrong. There I was in "Magical Menagerie on Diagon Alley," waiting for Harry to come in the store. I was all prepared to go into the cute kitty routine, so that he would buy me. Then that good sweet lunkhead Hagrid decided to surprise him with a pet owl for his birthday present. Now don't get me wrong, all of us magical creatures love Hagrid very much, and he meant well, but he really messed up our plans. Oh well at least he picked agent Hedwig who was to have been my teammate. Hedwig was meant to have been for the boy destined to be the Chosen One's best friend. That way both the Chosen One and I would have a reliable means of communication. This still a big problem as Hedwig couldn't stay in the dorm with Harry and watch over him, where I could. Also those horrible people he lives, with during the summer might have accepted me, but never an owl.

The plain was for some "mice" to be released in the house, for me to "catch". That way, the clean freak of an aunt of his would accept me. This would leave me free to patrol the house and ground. But poor Hedwig is forced to stay in his cage all of the time. A good thing there was still Mr. Tibbles. He is the guardian agent assigned to Mrs. Figg, and the two of them, under the cover of her being a "crazy cat lady," are our main training agents of new recruits. He had to keep doing triple duty, and help patrol the outside, of the house. He is getting on in years and we had hoped to have given him a break. Oh well at least still had his trainees to help him. There was still the problem of keeping an eye on the inside, of the house, but there was nothing we were able to do about it, at the time.

Journal log: September 1993; I had a bit of a break today. The "Chosen" with the "Second Destined" and "Third Destined" Ones came into the pet shop. The "Golden Trio" together in my pet store!! This was one more chance for me!! Then I saw "IT"! It was an evil little RAT that wasn't a Rat. "IT" was with the "Second Destined," but "IT"was also near the "Chosen." They were in danger from IT and didn't know it. I had to do something, to protect them! I jumped and tried to catch it. But the "Second Destined moved at last second, and I landed on his head! Oh what a complete failure I was! Not only did I fail to protect the "Chosen", I messed up any chance to save my assignment. I was so sad and upset, but then "She" came over and stared to comfort and pet me. The next thing I knew "She" bought me and I was going be able to go to Hogwarts. "She" was none other than "Third Destined". My assignment was saved!

Of course there were still problems with my assignment. I still could not be with the "Chosen" all the time, but at least I could be close to him. The other problem is the instinct breed to us, to bond and love our "owner". While I will still try to do my duty to my assignment, my "Mione" will always be first in my heart. However perhaps this is best as we also take on a bit of our "owner's" personality. She is very motherly and protected toward the "Chosen", and that feeling transfers to me a bit. After observing the "Chosen" for a bit, I believe that if I bonded with him, I would have started to take too many chances and risks, to do my job well. As for the "Second Destined" her feelings toward him are very confusing to me. I don't think she even knows how she feels, about him.
