Definitely Not A Muggle
-By Random One

Hermione Potter was washing dishes in the flat she and her husband Harry shared in Muggle London. A knock came to the door, and as she was preoccupied, she hollered at Harry to answer it. Oops.

Dripping wet in green silk robes, Draco Malfoy was standing at the door. Harry stood there surprised, mouth wide open.

"Well, aren't you going to ask me in?" Draco asked nonchalantly.

Harry continued staring, but moved out of the way for his former classmate to enter his house. Hermione walked into the living room, drying her hands. Her face suddenly took the same expression as her husband's.

"Malfoy?"

Draco sneered and nodded his head. "None other."

Harry, still speechless, looked over at Hermione. She snapped out of her near-comatose state and said, "Um, do you want something to drink?"

Draco nodded again and said, "Water, please."

Hermione turned to leave the room, and whispered into Harry's ear, "Find out what the hell he's doing here." Harry nodded his head in acquiescence, but still didn't speak. When Hermione returned with three glasses of ice water, she looked at Harry expectedly. He shrugged his shoulders, and she made an exasperated noise. Handing one of the glasses to Malfoy, she forced a smile and asked, "So, why are you here?"

Draco's face fell. He stared at the beige carpet as he spoke. "I need your help."

Hermione and Harry regained their surprised expressions, and Draco continued talking. "My father found out that I switched sides. One of my girlfriends got... angry. She told father everything. He knows that I gave all the information I could catch hold of to Dumbledore, and he knows that I spied on him. He sent people after me. They want to kill me. You're my last hope. Please let me stay with you until they stop searching."

There were a few moments of complete silence, the happy couple looking at Draco dumbfounded, and Draco looking back at them, hopeful. Harry was the first to speak. "You want to stay here. With us. In a Muggle village. What, do you want to kill us in our sleep or something?"

Draco grit his teeth. "I just want to have a safe place to sleep for a while. Please. I'm begging you."

Harry looked over at Hermione and gave a very inconspicuous nod. Then he turned to Draco. "How long do you need to stay?"

Draco took a few moments to reply. "Probably six months or so." Seeing Harry and Hermione's expressions, he quickly continued. "I know it seems like a long time. But trust me. I know I haven't given you any reason, but you have to trust me. I'll pay rent. I'll help with bills and groceries and cleaning. I'll do anything if you'll just let me stay here."

It was the female Potter who spoke this time. "I guess you can stay in the guest room. But you're going to have to help with expenses - Harry and I barely make it on our own. We can't do it with you staying here too."

Draco leapt from the overstuffed chair he had been sitting in and hugged both Harry and Hermione. He laughed and thanked them numerous times (none of this was something the Potters had ever seen before, but it was definitely refreshing).

When all this commotion was finished, Hermione smiled at her temporary roommate. "I'll put sheets on the bed in the guest bedroom and we can work out a rent payment tomorrow. Right now, we all need to get some sleep."
