Severus had now moved to the hospital wing. Pomfrey said it was for his and the babies safety. He was constantly in a strange mood, sometimes like a bomb that would explode any minute when someone mentioned his condition.
Professor Grubbly-Plank was teaching his class now that he was hardly ever allowed to the leave the hospital wing, though people were starting to get suspicious (just as they had the year before with Hagrid's absence).
Pomfrey had set out a 30-minute period of the day where she allowed Severus alone with the hooked up mirror machine and his babies. Sometimes she'd join him as they watched the twins kick Severus' already bruised stomach lining, but he didn't care as long as they didn't do it for too long. Judging on how fondly he watched his children, she could safely say that he was going to be one protective father.
In fact, one evening in late October, Severus awoke with a sharp pain his in private area. Once he had notified Pomfrey of it, she sighed, and told him to prepare for some not-so-good news.
"I can't be in labor already?!" he practically screamed.
"No, no, no... of course not! You still have a month and a half to go!" Severus was relieved... but the nurse's face told him that was not all.
"Your private parts are changing."
There was a stunned silence. The babies kicked again, this time harder then before; Severus doubled over in pain.
"What the hell are you talking about?!?!" he exclaimed, crawling out of bed and heading to the lav, "my private parts are fine, thank you!"
But as he opened the door to the lav, turned on the light, pulled off his pants, and looked down, he got the shock of his life. Other than the pregnancy, of course.
His scream rang through the halls all the way up to the owlery (scaring them out of their wits), and down to the dungeons (some first and second-years hid in terror).
After calming him, which took a considerable amount of time, she reassured him that it was normal in male pregnancies...
"How else would the babies come out?" she explained to him.
He thought of a Muggle C-section, but no... that would hurt too much. But so did this--it felt like he was being ripped in half, and he wasn't even in labor yet.

A month after that private incident, a young third year came to the hospital wing from a headache. She excused herself from the Professor, and hurried to get the boys' prescription. While she was gone, the boy (a Gryffindor, Severus had had him in class a few days before coming to live in the hospital wing) would turn to look at him every so often. It was now, more than ever, that Severus wished he had a private room... Pomfrey had promised privacy when the labor started, but he was in a normal hospital cot at the moment. Severus almost expected the boy to come over and ask what was the matter, but he didn't. Not that he would've told him, anyway... he wasn't that vulnerable. Soon, he left.
The next day, Severus was having more pain around his midsection, but this had nothing to do with his private parts, which were 100% woman now. He had been in complete shock at first, but by now he had gotten used to peeing in the toilet and not having to double up in pain every time something hit him "down there". There wasn't much to hit, anyway.
Snape was getting used to the feel of the pregnancy also. He wasn't sure he'd ever want to leave the safety of the hospital wing, though it never guaranteed complete privacy, it was still a nice place to bring up his children. He smiled to himself... this might work out.
