The morning of July 30th found Harry and Ginny sitting in beach chairs outside the Burrow enjoying the sunrise. That at least, is what they told Ron when he finally rousted himself from his bed. Their actual purpose that morning was discussing a plan for getting Ron to admit his feelings to Hermione who was due to arrive that day around noon in honor of Harry's birthday the following day.

They had already discounted locking the pair in the attic with the family ghoul since there was no good reason to get them both up there at the same time. They also rejected a forged love letter from Viktor Krum as that had the prospect of blowing up in everybody's faces and making the situation worse. They also considered simply tossing the pair in the nearby stream, hanging banners from the walls complete with sparklers as well as hiring a dragon to fly around in the sky dragging a banner that said "Ron loves Hermione!"

Eventually they settled on a simple confrontation of the truth over dinner. They would simply start off by saying how grateful they were that they had opened up to one another and now knew how the other felt about them and that they were looking forward to spending some private time together once school restarted. They anticipated that despite everything else that had happened, Ron would be opposed to anyone spending any private time with his sister. At this point, Harry would point out that at least he had someone to spend some private time with, unlike other people at the table and Ginny would console Hermione by reminding her that at least she could spend time with Ron while patrolling the school while performing their prefect duties.

Harry and Ginny both assumed at this point, hormones would start to kick in, and Ron and Hermione would get the message. If not, Harry would simply stand up, turn to Ron and say, "Oh for Merlin's sake Weasley, just snog her already!"

Both agreed it wasn't the most eloquent of plans, but given their options, it would have to do. With that in agreement, they proceeded to have a snogging session of their own until Ginny's mother called them in for breakfast.

Several hours later, after having a rather intense flying session in the family paddock, Harry and Ginny returned to the Burrow to find Ron pacing the length of the kitchen muttering under his breath. Harry couldn't quite hear what Ron was mumbling, but he could have sworn he heard something about 'being here soon' and 'to tell her' somewhere in amidst Ron's incoherent babbling.

When Harry asked Ron what he had said, Ron looked up in shock to see he wasn't alone and hastily replied he hadn't said anything but was merely thinking out loud as how to tell Professor Sprout he wasn't going to continue with Herbology since he wanted to focus on his other classes and simply wanted to wait until his OWL results arrived before formulating what to say.

Harry heard Ginny stifle a chortle and he simply told Ron that it was still a good thirty minutes before Hermione arrived. Ron simply stood there gaping like a guppy as his best friend and sister both headed upstairs to shower. Ron was fervently hoping they would be showering separately.

Half an hour later, after they had showered, both separately to Ron's smug satisfaction, the three of them sat down to lunch. Just as Mrs.Weasley was setting a plate down in front of Harry, the fireplace flared to life and a figure shot from it, covered in soot. Ron hastily jumped from his seat to help Hermione to her feet and began to clear the soot from her back, trying fervently to avoid making eye contact with her. Harry and Ginny both called out their greetings from the other side of the kitchen table, trying to smother the laughter that was threatening to erupt from both of them. Realizing he hadn't yet said hello, Ron ceased trying to clean the soot off of Hermione and murmured a hello. She quietly said hello back, looking as if she were racking her brain to find a way to break the tension that had suddenly filled the room.

Just then Mrs.Weasley smothered Hermione with one of her trademark bearhugs and dragged her and Ron to the table and sat them down with a plate full of food in front of them despite Hermione's pleading that she'd already eaten.

After lunch, Ginny dragged Hermione up to her room to help her unpack while Harry sat down with Ron for a round of chess, Ron carefully placing himself so he had a clear view of the stairs. Harry couldn't help but smirk as Ron kept checking the staircase every few seconds for what he wouldn't quite say. Needless to say, this distraction gave Harry the chance to play the longest round of chess he'd ever had against Ron, a good forty minute long game which, as usual, he wound up loosing. The fact that he'd gotten Ron in check three different times was something Harry wasn't quick to let Ron forget.

Sometime later, Ron and Harry made their way upstairs where they were joined in Ron's room by Ginny and Hermione. Hermione of course, was forced to sit next to Ron on his bed as Ginny was curled up in Harry's lap on the chair next to Ron's desk. Needless to say, she seemed slightly flustered at this predicament, but seemed appeased by the significant step forward Harry and Ginny had taken in their 'friendship.'

Hermione proceeded to scold Ron for being such an overprotective big brother and frightening Harry the way he and the others had, and then proceeded to scold Harry for taking what Ron and the others had said so seriously. She then proceeded to tell Harry how happy she was he had finally calmed down enough to open his eyes to certain things. Harry and Ginny both blushed at this and Ginny felt a shiver run down her spine as she felt Harry's hand running up and down her backside.

After this, Hermione proceeded to change the subject to all the reading she had done over the summer and how she was hopeful they wouldn't have to wait too much longer for their OWL results. Ron simply groaned at this and rolled his eyes. This resulted in the beginning of one of Hermione's trademark "Honestly Ron!" speeches.

Struck with sudden inspiration, Ginny leaned into Harry and whispered something in his ear, Harry nodded in agreement and they carefully untangled themselves from each other and made to stand up. When Ron asked where they were going, Ginny simply replied that if he and Hermione so desperately wanted some time alone so they could snog themselves senseless, all they had to do was ask and that she and Harry were going to go degnome the garden.

Ron and Hermione were immediately on their feet protesting their innocence but Harry said that he and Ginny were having none of that and that if they didn't hurry up, that he and Ginny would wind up beating them to the altar. Ron and Hermione were even more indignant at this but neither Harry nor Ginny was having any of this and they promptly told them they could deny things until they were blue in the face but that it wouldn't change a thing to how they felt and with that he promptly led Ginny from the room, closing the door behind them.

That night at dinner, there were two very obvious empty seats at the table and Mrs.Weasley was forced to retrieve Ron and Hermione from his room, chastising both of them for such inappropriate behavior behind closed doors. When Ron tried to protest they hadn't done anything Harry and Ginny hadn't done, Mrs.Weasley merely commented that at least they had the courtesy to do so in plain view of everyone.

This, of course, had the effect of forcing Harry and Ginny to fall from their chairs, shrieking in laughter. When Ron tried to tell Harry to sod off, Harry merely replied , "It's about time you got round to snogging her Weasley!"

Ron halted in his tracks, thought for a moment and said, "I could say the same about you too Potter."

"You're right Ron, but your sister beat you to it." Harry said with a grin as he helped Ginny to her feet and into a very warm embrace.

The next day was one of the best in Harry Potter's life. Not only did he have a girlfriend, who he hopelessly adored, but he also received his OWL results, and while he didn't do as well in some classes as he might have liked, he did well enough in the ones that counted to allow him to continue his studies.

The best part of the day however, was the surprise party thrown for him with all his friends from Hogwarts as well as the people he considered his family, first and foremost a certain redheaded girl named Ginny Weasley.
