It is difficult to be an outcast in any school, but only the worst can be Hufflepuff outcasts. Imagine a person that is being shunned even by nice and friendly Hufflepuffs, for Merlin's sake. Your housmates dislike you, your sister is ashamed of you, you get a B in Transfiguration after all the work, and on top of it you don't have a single friend. But, as a consequence of tunneling, uncontrolable anger, and a couple of sharp retorts, an unlikely friendship is born between a Hufflepuff and a Slytherin. Maybe.
