Chapter 2

The Girl of Diagon Alley

"Chelle, I can't believe you didn't see him!"

"You're upset that I didn't see some guy who was ogling you from down the block?! I would've thought you'd be glad! So I can't get him first!"

"Yeah, like you'd get him!"

Sofia was laughing outwardly as she was mentally kicking herself. Why on earth did I just stand there? He was so…what was it about him that caught her senses? Hmmm.. She thought as her flat mate yelled to get her attention.

"Yo! Sofia! Hello? You awake? You better pack up what we bought! Your portkey leaves in like 2 hours, and look at this place!" Chelle said as she surveyed the room. There were boxes, bags, and trunks everywhere.

"Well, I guess it is a good thing that I am a witch then, huh?" Sofia responded as she waved her wand. Suddenly the bags were all packed, and all the boxes were filled, and everything was neatly stacked in a pile near the door out of her flat.

"I still can't believe you are a witch and there is a whole magic community out there that I never even heard of!" Chelle exclaimed to her American flat mate. Sofia had simply had answered her ad in a local paper. She claimed that she had come to here to work for a while before settling down to work back in New York City. Sofia said she just wanted to have some fun before her life became all serious. Chelle didn't know that Sofia was really working for the Ministry of Magic as a liaison between the magic community and Gringots Bank. Chelle had found out accidentally when an owl from her friend in the States had arrived. Chelle confronted Sofia about it, so Sofia told her everything. Chelle was stunned, and totally jealous. Chelle had recently decided to enroll in a Kwickspell Course because she was convinced that there had to be some magic in her blood, too!

"I can't believe you are leaving!" cried Chelle between sobs as her friend called her taxi to take her to the Muggle side of the Leaky Cauldron.

"You can just jump on the Euro Star and come down next spring! You can come down anytime! You know that the town I am going to is right on the Mediterranean!" She said.

"It'll be completely fun! Lying on the beach, partying til dawn, and being utterly wild! The complete opposites of our natural selves!" Chelle responded as she began to feel a little bit better. "But I still have to find a new flat mate! Do you have any idea the of weirdos that applied the last time!" After they gained their composure, after of fits of laughter and tears, they hugged. Sofia was off with that strange guy still on her mind.
