The Meeting

~~~~~~~~~~
Angelina Johnson slouched unhappily in her seat, staring out the train window. The eleven-year-old was nervous about going off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Even though she was a pure-blood and knew a great deal about magic, she still could not shake off a feeling of wariness.
"Mama said that there was a hat that sorted kids into their proper houses. The hat will know where to put me," she assured herself, winding strands of her black hair around her fingers. The girl pulled out one of her school textbooks and started to read. Suddenly, she heard screams, a door slam, and the clatter of feet running. Angelina clutched her wand and shakily stood up, planning on opening the door. Just as she reached out a hand, the door swung open and two boys rushed in and toppled over her.
"George, get off. You weigh a ton," a voice groaned.
"Me?!" an indignant voice that sounded oddly similar to the first one replied, "You're the one lying on top of me."
"Will you two both shut up and get up," Angelina asked exasperated.
"Of course we are going to get up," the first voice piped up. "You think we're here to admire the carpeting?"
"Well, if you are going to move, how about you move now," Angelina grumbled. "I'm all the way at the bottom and I like the way my lungs work, thank you very much."
The boys moved and Angelina straightened her robes and looked up in amazement. The boys were twins. "I'm George by the way," one boy announced, pointing at himself. "This is my brother, Fred." George crept to the door and cautiously peered out. Angelina glanced at Fred and her eyes met the most vivid shade of sky blue. Both held their gaze, until George cried, "Go get a room!"
Fred sputtered and Angelina ducked her head in embarrassment. "So, what made you run in here anyway? It looked like You-Know-Who was after you." George grinned at the girl.
"We pulled a prank on a bunch of 7th year Ravenclaws who were making out."
He grimaced.
"Yeah. We decided that they weren't being very good role models for us impressionable young students, so we put a stop to it," Fred informed Angelina, joining his brother at the door. They both jerked their heads in and closed the door as a masculine voice yelled,
"Tim, I'm sure I saw them. Who could miss that red hair?" The voice faded away as the footsteps retreated. The twins sighed in relief and Angelina smirked.
"You still haven't answered my question. What did you do?"
"We didn't do anything bad," George whined. "Just threw a half dozen or so Dungbombs into their compartment." Angelina stared at them and broke into mirth.
"Dungbombs?! You threw Dungbombs at 7th-year students?!" The boys looked offended for a moment, shrugged, and broke out into peals of laughter. As they were wiping tears away, the door burst open and the three quickly pulled out their wands.
"Hey! Ever heard the _expression 'Don't kill the messenger'? Especially one as good looking as me?" a voice asked with amusement. Angelina kept her wand trained on the newcomer, but reluctantly dropped her arm when the twins smiled.
"Hullo, Lee," George greeted the black boy in front of him. "Where did you disappear to?"
"We must have been separated when the seventh-years started chasing us. Anyway, I found a great place to hide that is near some other kissing couples." Lee rolled his eyes. "C'mon. Let's go." He turned away and raced down the hall, George and Fred right behind him.
Angelina watched the boys go and sat down, her nervousness returning. She had forgotten her fear when the twins showed up. Sighing, she reopened her textbook and was just about to continue where she had left off, when the door to the compartment slowly opened.
"I, uh, left my wand in here," Fred said, strolling in, not actually looking at Angelina. He picked up his wand and walked back to the door, whistling. He opened the door and disappeared. Angelina frowned and went back to reading.
A few seconds later, the door opened and the red haired boy stuck his head in.
"Angelina...."
"Yeah?"
There was a pause.
"See you at Hogwarts."
He grinned at her. Not the same jaunty grin he gave the first time he entered the room. This one was half gentle, half uncertain.
Then he ducked out.
Angelina leaned back, crossing her arms behind her head, book forgotten.
"I guess Hogwarts won't be so bad, after all," she said smiling broadly. "I've just made a new friend."
