Author's Note:
Music, huh? What do you guys think about the song. I was just writing this chapter and the song came on the radio. I thought, Hey, that wouldn't be too bad, let's throw the lyrics in my story. I love to put lyrics in stories so expect some more in the future.

Chapter 7

Radio Reaction

"Me? W-what can I do."

"You can make a big difference, but it won't be easy."

"I don't care. Whatever it is I'll do it!"

"Alright."

He snapped his fingers and a chair appeared out of nowhere and he sat down on it. Margaret strode across the room and sat down next to Harry. Harry turned to face her. She wasn't looking at him, however, but staring at Sirius with fascination.

"Harry, Ms. Granger's mind isn't working properly at the moment as you've no doubt noticed. She is incapable of communication. We believe that this was brought on by the shock of loosing her parents and just the crash in general. We also believe that a powerfull enough memory charm could make her forget the whole ordeal, and maybe even the pain of not having any parents."

Sirius cleared his throat loudly. Dr. Carey glared up at Sirius, smirked and then rephrased his statement.

"She won't have the memories of her parents. Anyway, this would be simple except for one tiny detail. In the plane crash, she her head and has a bad head injury. Any spell cast on her mind would push her further into a catatonic state. We can't do anything until she snaps out of the state she's in. When she starts talking, she should be ready for memory modification."

"What does this have to do with me?"

"You have to get her talking."

"How? How am I supposed to do this?"

"It appears she has a special bond with you, Harry."

Sirius cleared his throat again, irritated, indicating the fact that Hermione had allowed him to sit by her.

"And your godfather, probably because he looks like you and the fact that it was you who introduced them."

Sirius snorted angrily.

"We're going to allow you and Mr. Black to take her home. We think a comfortable environment might stimulate her brain. Also, we want absolutely no visitors. We only want the two of you to interact with her. Any more and it might confuse her. Don't leave her alone. You'll have to treat her like you would an infant. You'll be taking her home in an hour in the least. The sooner she leaves the better.

"Do anything that you used to do together. Read her her favorite books, make her favorite dishes, etc. And whatever you do, no scares, no traumas or it could be disastrous! Margaret will come by every day for a check up."

Harry nodded, bombarded by information. Dr. Carey smiled at him. He went to leave, but turned just as she was about to go out the door.

"You know what, Mr. Potter? I think she just might be ok."

Margaret taught Harry a few medical charms in case of emergency. Harry also had permission from the Minister of Magic to use certain charms and spells. In only about an hour, Sirius, Harry, and Hermione were on their way to the Granger's house. Ron had been very upset that he wouldn't be allowed to come over.

The trip was very quiet. Harry and Hermione sat in the back seats of the car Sirius had borrowed from the Ministry. The doctor had bewitched the car so that it would lead them back to the Granger so they had no idea how long of a drive it would be.

Hermione appeared to be looking out the window, but Harry doubted that she was looking at anything. I wonder what she's feeling? Harry wondered as he watched her. Is she afraid, or just trapped in her own little world? I wonder if she knows that I'm here for her? Sirius, who'd had enough of the silence, turned on the radio.

The radio was obviously tuned into a muggle radio station because Harry recognized the song.

"When you feel the sunlight

Fade into the cold night

Don't know where to turn

I don't know where to turn

And all the dreams you're dreaming

Seem to loose their meaning

Let me into your world

All you need is someone you can hold

Don't be sad, you're not alone

I will be here for you

Somewhere in the night

Somewhere in the night

I'll shine a light for you

Somewhere in the night

I'll be standing by

I will be here for you

In this world of strangers

Of cold and friendly faces

Someone you can trust

Oh, there's someone you can trust

I will be your shelter

I'll give you my shoulder

Just reach out for my love

Reach out for my love

Call my name and my heart will hear

I will be there

There's nothing to fear

I will be here for you

Somewhere in the night

Somewhere in the night

I'll shine a light for you

Somewhere in the night

I'll be standing by

I will be here for you

I will be here for you

Somewhere in the night

Somewhere in the night

I'll shine a light for you

Somewhere in the night

I'll be standing by

I will be here for you..."

Harry stared at the radio in amazement. The radio had read his mind, so it seemed, though Harry knew it hadn't. Hermione had turned from the radio and sat up straight. Harry looked over at her again.

Her head was lying back on the seat and her eyes were closed, the smallest traces of a smile on her face. She seemed to be listening to the radio. Harry turned to Sirius.

"Turn off the radio for a minute."

The music stopped. Harry looked at Hermione. Her eyes opened and her face slacked back into its dismal, distant trace again.

"Turn it back on."

Hermione closed her eyes again. Strange.

"Hey, Sirius. She responds to music!"

"Are you kidding?"

"No. Just look at her!"

Sirius turned. Harry saw the look of mixed confusion and amusement cross his face. Suddenly, the car came to a lurching stop.
