Chapter 6

Monday afternoon could not come around quick enough for Jenna. She, Ron, Ginny, Harry, Dean and Seamus headed out to the pitch eagerly, followed by a reluctant Kara and Hermione.

"Hey, Oliver."

"Hey Ron, looks like a good turnout this year."

Oliver turned to address everyone.

"I'm here as an advisor, part of my job as a flying TA is to help all the Quidditch teams -although some are less keen to take help then others. Ron is the captain here, so it's over to him."

"Cheers, right hi everyone. I'm looking for three Chasers and two Beaters for the first team...."

Andrew Kirk and Jack Sloper, the Beaters who replaced Fred and George the year before, looked disgruntled but they knew they had guaranteed places on the reserve team.

"....I also want three Chasers, a Keeper and a Seeker for a reserve team. I know we have never had a reserve team before but some of us are prone to injuries."

Everyone turned to look to look at Harry, who shrugged and tried to look innocent.

"What?"

"Anyway, Gin, Jenna and you ... Lee is it? Let's see you three in Chaser action. Dean, Seamus you can try Beaters and I'll try Adam as a Keeper."

Everyone flew up and Ron released the Quaffle followed by the Bludgers. Kara and Hermione sat at the edge of the pitch, watching.

"Jenna is a good flier."

"Hmm ... so's Ginny, wow what a goal."

The tryouts went on for a couple of hours. Ron had decided his reserve team and had chosen Dean and Seamus as first team Beaters. He wandered over to the girls and sat down with a sigh.

"What's up?"

"The Chasers. Gin and Jenna are really good, but there is no-one else here I want to put in the first team."

Ginny, Jenna and Harry landed as Ron was talking and heard him moan.

"Well Kara is good enough."

"No I'm not Jen, don't start."

"You damn well are and you know it. You can't let that fall...."

"Shut up!"

Everyone looked on interested, they had yet to see the twins argue and it was certainly entertaining.

"Well it's true, you can bloody fly well. I didn't have you down as a wimp."

"Bugger off Jen, I'm not doing it."

Kara had her stubborn look set on her face. 'Shit,' Jenna knew she had pushed it too far. 'Time to use blackmail.' Jenna grabbed Kara and pulled her to her feet.

"Excuse us."

"Oh, and it was just getting good."

The twins turned to glare at Ron before walking off.

"Remind me not to get on their bad side."

Kara stopped a short way from the others and turned on her sister.

"What is your problem?"

"You and this bull that you can't fly. We need you. Besides ... if you don't, I'll tell Harry about your feelings for Draco."

Kara look murderous.

"You bitch! It's not like I don't have dirt on you. Mum and Dad would be interested to hear...."

"Now's not the time. Look you know I will wear you down eventually."

Kara pouted but she knew Jenna was right. If she didn't want to do something, Jenna would wear her down until she agreed. Although, as far as she could remember, it normally ended in trouble.

"Fine, I'll try out. Ron might not want me anyway."

Jenna gave a smirk very similar to Draco's and they headed back to the others.

"Harry, can I borrow your broom please?"

"What made you change your mind?"

Kara glanced at Jenna, who shook her head slightly.

"The fact that Jen wouldn't shut up until I did."

Harry handed Kara his broom and she, Ginny and Jenna flew up and Ron re-released the quaffle.

"Wow, those three are good."

Oliver had come over and was watching the three girls.

"Yeah, although we nearly didn't have Kara. Jenna managed to change her mind."

"I'll have to thank her later."

Too late Oliver realised what he had said, he turned red as the others laughed.

Later back in the common room the Gryffindors celebrated their new Quidditch team. Kara was still sulking with Jenna but she decided to it was time to force her and Oliver together.

"You going to speak to Oliver?"

"Nope."

"Hey, Oliver, over here."

Kara called him over as Jenna gave her a panicky look.

"Yeah?"

"You going to Hogsmeade this month?"

With that Kara walked off, muttering 'got ya' to Jenna under her breath as she went. Jenna decided it was time to pluck up her Gryffindor courage; not that she had much choice thanks to her sister.

"About what my sister said...."

"Yeah?"

"If you want...."

Jenna saw Ron heading towards them out of the corner of her eye; she shot him a 'don't you dare' look and turned back to Oliver.

"....we could go to Hogsmeade together? I mean I'll understand if you don't want to. Never mind forget I asked, I just...."

Jenna started to ramble and blush profoundly, but Oliver cut across her.

"That would be great."

Jenna gave Oliver a thank you smile. She then quickly changed the subject to hide her awkwardness at having just asked Oliver out. Kara smiled as she eavesdropped on the conversation.

"Finally!"

"What?"

Harry turned to her questioningly. Kara nodded at Jenna and Oliver who were looking very cosy by the common room fireplace. Harry grinned.

"Fast movers, you Geminus girls."

"We have to be as you Hogwarts boys aren't. If you don't like it, I'm sure I could find someone who does."

"Don't you dare!"

Kara laughed as Harry slung his arm around her, but as they went over to Ron and Hermione Jenna's threat echoed in her mind.

The twins were finally settling into lessons and life at Hogwarts but they were missing certain items from home.

"I don't get it Herm, how can you like...."

"....wizarding music? It's so random compared...."

"....to Muggle music."

"Do you two have to do that?"

Kara and Jenna gave Hermione an innocent look and answered in unison.

"What?"

"Finish each other's sentences."

Hermione sighed as the girls grinned wickedly and ate their breakfast. Hermione really was too easy to wind up.

"Anyway, I agree with you that Muggle music is better ... oh post"

Kara smiled as her barn owl landed in front of her carrying a large parcel.

"What's that?"

Kara rolled her eyes at Harry.

"I don't know oh light of my life, my witch powers don't stretch to seeing through packaging!"

Harry stuck his tongue out at her as she opened the parcel.

"Wicked, Jenna have you got...?"

"Yep."

Jenna currently had a large stack of Muggle CDs in front of her.

"So, like Harry said, what's that?"

"That, Ron old chap, is a Muggle CD player charmed to work without electricity. Sometimes I love our parents."

As the rest of the table rummaged through the CDs, Ron pulled a face at Harry which the twins caught.

"What?"

"Your parents must be as loaded as the Malfoys. How come they don't believe in that pure blood stuff as well?"

The twins looked at each other. Jenna nodded and turned back to Ron.

"Well, honestly, we're not sure; all we know is that they used to be Unspeakables in the Department of Mysteries but quit when they had our brother. Dad is now a liaison between our ministry and the British government, which explains the Muggle stuff. Mum is a curse breaker at Gringotts like your brother."

As Jenna was talking, the rest of the table had turned to listen and soon the conversation turned to everyone's parents and their jobs. Kara was gathering the CDs when Jenna nudged her and nodded at Harry. He was looking extremely uncomfortable with the conversation.

"Harry, wanna help me take this stuff upstairs?"

He smiled gratefully at Kara and they picked the CD player and CDs then headed upstairs. As they left the Great Hall, though, they were corned by Draco.

"Library, tonight at 6pm, Kara?"

"Yeah, whatever."

Draco smirked at Harry but thankfully heeded Kara's warning look and let them leave without comment.

Kara walked slowly to the library that evening. Despite Jenna reassuring her it was a momentary thing, she couldn't help but remember how she felt around Draco. She walked and in and saw him sitting in a secluded corner; her heart sank but she headed over.

"Hey."

Draco looked up and her stomach did a lurch again. He looked like he had just showered and his hair hung loosely around his face.

"Hey, sit down we still need a lot more detail on this potion."

Kara sat on one of the sofas and they worked for about an hour before she got restless. She looked up to see Draco looking at her.

"What?"

"So what was up with Potter this morning?"

With his trademark smirk firmly in place it was easier for Kara to feel nothing but hatred towards Draco.

"Nothing was wrong with Harry, we just wanted to be alone."

A smile briefly touched her lips as the smirk left Draco's face but it fled as he got up and sat next to her.

"So what do you two do when you are alone?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Well, I'd rather you show me."

"Ah, but then it would take all the fun out of watching you trying to guess."

Kara knew it was wrong but, as Jenna would often tell everyone, flirting came naturally to Kara even if she did end up in trouble.

"Well I don't know about Harry but I know what I would do if we were alone"

"Well we are."

The retort came out of her mouth before she thought about it; she groaned inwardly as she saw the look on Draco's face.

"That we are...."

Draco slowly leaned towards Kara.

"Hey guys, nice to see the research is going well!"

Kara and Draco both turned to see Jenna standing in front of them looking half angry, half amused.

"Hello," Draco muttered angrily as he got up and headed back to his seat by the table.

"I thought I would join you two, I needed to escape Pansy. She's still around here somewhere. Bloody Slytherins! Offence intended."

Draco raised an eyebrow but chose not to say anything. Jenna sat next to her sister, giving her a 'we'll talk' look before opening her book to read.

As the twins headed back to the Gryffindor common room when the library closed Jenna let rip at Kara.

"What were you doing?"

"Nothing ... I ... oh god, I don't know."

Kara looked so upset that Jenna eased up slightly.

"You're playing with fire. You two nearly kissed."

"I know, I know. I don't get it, I really like Harry. But you know me, always a sucker for a bad boy!"

"Yeah that's true; there was Andrew, Ryan, James then Luke...."

"All right, I'm not that bad! Argh, I need my head examining!"

"I just reckon you need more then holding hand action from Harry; you two haven't even kissed yet have you?"

"No, that's probably it. Harry's hardly Mr. Fast Mover though! I just hope you are right."

"Aren't I always?"

"Uh huh, yeah," Kara said dryly as they reached the Gryffindor common room and went inside.
