Chapter 5

Seven o'clock came round too soon for the twins. Jenna was still protesting loudly that Kara wasn't going to be in detention.

"It's just not fair; Snape's going to be twice as evil to me."

"Yeah coz spending the evening with Malfoy is my idea of fun."

"Yeah right. I know you think he's hot."

"Shhh!"

Kara glanced at Harry but he was engrossed in playing Exploding Snap with Ron.

"Sorry, don't want to ruin that potential relationship as well! I guess I'm just pissed at having to work with that bloody Pansy girl as well as having Polyjuice Potion as our title."

"It's okay. Come on, we'd better go."

Kara's heart sank further and further as she reached the library. She looked around for Draco but couldn't see him so she headed to the potions section. She was just about to give up on him when he appeared.

"Where have you been?"

"None of your business. Come on, we have got to go to the restricted section-I have the permission slip."

They finally got down to work. Kara had just got a book from the shelf when Draco stepped in front of her.

"What's this?"

Draco fingered a silver chain around Kara's neck that had half a charm dangling from it.

'Shit,' thought Kara; she knew she was supposed to keep it hidden. She reached to put the chain back in her robes but Draco closed his other hand over hers.

"Well?"

"Just a family heirloom. Jenna wears the other half."

She was becoming increasing aware of how close Draco was; she opened her mouth to say something but he suddenly dropped her hand and sat back down.

"Malfoy...."

"Call me Draco."

"Oh ... okay ... Draco, why did you get me out of detention?"

"I told you."

"Yeah I know, but I want the real reason this time."

Draco smiled, a genuine smile for a change. Kara felt a lurch in her stomach. 'Oh no, not Draco.'

"Well if I'm honest...."

At this Kara raised her eyebrows causing Draco to laugh.

"Yes I can be honest, I guess I was curious about this girl who flirts with me one minute and hexes me the next. I thought what better way to get to know her then by having her in my debt!"

Kara shook her head.

"Men!"

"Women!"

"Sod!"

"Tease!"

She laughed.

"Come on Mr Malfoy, we had better do some work so I can serve my punishment."

"I can think of better ways for you to serve your punishment ... ouch!"

Draco rubbed his head, laughing, where Kara had thrown a book at him and they both settled back down to work.

Saturday morning dawned bright and sunny. For once Jenna was up and dressed early and was impatiently waiting for her sister.

"You do not need make-up for flying, surely?"

Kara glanced at her sister in the mirror.

"Says the girl who never wears any but has suspiciously lipstick-coloured lips!"

"It's lip balm; my lips are chapped," Jenna protested.

"Uh huh yeah."

They finally headed out onto the Quidditch pitch and were trying out their new brooms when Ron, Harry and Oliver arrived. Oliver wandered over to Jenna.

"How's the broom handling?"

"Okay, I'm having trouble with sharp turning though- it's so powerful."

Kara laughed to herself; she had just seen her sister turn perfectly well. She turned to Ron and Harry.

"So who wants a go?"

Kara and Harry sat leaning next to each other watching Ron fly on the broom.

"Kara ... erm...."

"Yes?"

Harry looked nervously at Kara then back up at Ron.

"Doesn't matter."

Ron landed in front of them.

"This broom is bloody fantastic. So has Harry asked you yet?"

Harry shot a half grateful, half dirty look at Ron.

"No and I won't with you hovering over us!"

Ron took off again laughing.

"Kara, would you like to go with me to Hogsmeade in October?"

"I'd love to."

"Really? That's great, I can't wait."

Harry got up and shouted after Ron, "Hey it's my turn now."

Kara smiled; Harry just wasn't the flirting type. 'Unlike Draco' a traitorous voice in her head whispered.

"Shut up," Kara muttered to it before turning to watch Jenna and Oliver.

"Now make sure you have a firm grip."

Jenna shot a grin at Oliver causing him to blush.

"Now try the turn again."

Jenna flew up and performed a perfect sharp turn then returned to hover in front of Oliver.

"Cool, thanks. Would you like a go now?"

Oliver nodded so Jenna went to hop off her broom. Unfortunately her robes got caught; she nearly fell to the floor but Oliver caught her in time. He helped her up and they both stood, their arms still around each other.

"Sorry, I'm still not used to these robes. We could wear Muggle clothes in Ireland."

"That's okay."

They both moved closer until....

"Hey guys, you coming to breakfast or what?"

Jenna and Oliver jumped apart and turned to glare at Ron.

"Oops ... sorry!"

Reluctantly they headed after the others and into the Great Hall.

Sunday was spent doing homework so when the evening finally rolled around, the Gryffindor sixth years were grateful to relax in the common room. Jenna was currently trying to beat Ron at Wizarding Chess with Dean and Seamus looking on.

"Hey, Oliver."

Jenna looked up blushing, causing Dean and Seamus to laugh.

"Just kidding!"

Jenna glared at Seamus and turned back to the game. Kara, who was currently curled up next to Harry with her head on his chest, was reading a Quidditch book. She was trying to understand the big deal with it but so far it was just making her sleepy.

"Hey, Oliver."

Jenna glared at Harry.

"Yeah, yeah very funny!" Jenna said dryly.

"What's funny?"

Jenna turned on her chair and went bright red when she saw Oliver standing behind her

"Come on, what's funny?"

Jenna looked at Kara pleadingly. 'Help!' Kara grinned; it was tempting to leave her sister to squirm, but she wasn't that evil. Well not this time anyway.

"Nothing but Dean and Seamus like to think they are. Can you explain this bit in my book to me?"

As Oliver went to help Kara, Jenna gave her a grateful look and mouthed 'thanks'.

"So come on Oliver, why are you here disturbing our teacher-free rest?"

"Well I thought you would like to know who is Quidditch captain this year."

Ron and Harry looked up eagerly. Kara sighed, she liked Harry so she guessed she would have to get used to this.

"Well I discussed this with all the team members and with Professor McGonagall and it has been decided that ... Ron will be captain this year."

Everyone cheered and went to congratulate him; Kara sat up and looked at Harry.

"You okay?"

"Yeah. Ron's better at tactics and stuff then me; besides it means Ron has all the extra work to do and I've got enough to worry about."

Harry suddenly looked really down but then a cheeky grin crept on his face.

"Even more so now I'm dating you!"

"Hey!"

Kara faked punched Harry then they went to over to Ron. Jenna, meanwhile, was chatting to Oliver.

"So when are the Quidditch tryouts?"

"Tomorrow after lessons, you going to make an appearance?"

"Yeah I'm thinking of trying for Chaser. I'm trying to convince Kara as well, but she's too wrapped up in Harry at the mo."

Jenna sighed and looked at the floor. Oliver stepped forward and lifted her head up, as Jenna looked into his eyes they both flushed and he quickly dropped his hand.

"What's wrong?"

"It's nothing really; it's just with those two plus Ron and Hermione pretending not to like each other I feel like a fifth wheel."

"It can't be that bad."

"Not most of the time but when we all go to Hogsmeade it will be. I need someone to go with really."

Oliver swallowed and went red.

"Well, if you want...."

Unfortunately Seamus chose this moment to come over.

"Is it hot in here, Oliver?"

Oliver and Jenna both blushed deeper and Oliver was dragged away by Seamus before he could finish what he said. Kara came over and slung an arm around Jenna.

"Not again! Looks like you might have to make the first move, hun."

Jenna sighed, she feared Kara was right.
