Author's Note:
Well, for the ending, I’d just like to note that it’s like a small theory of a friend of mines that Lily and James are descendants of Rowena and Godric. It’s going to have most of my favorite couplings including L/J, S/OC, R/OC, H/Hr, C/G, etc. (C/G—Colin/Ginny)

La-De-Da – Case #2 : Water Lily and Prongs

---

“Oh no, you guys didn’t!” Mena laughed, “I mean your first case was a disaster! Now you’re taking one almost exactly like it?! Yikes!”

Yume nodded. Mena was her best friend. Now Mena was older. Really older. She even had grandchildren! “Well, we have to make up for it… now… though, it’s much more difficult and complex. I’ve seen their files. One’s never been in love and the other doesn’t know what love is. Honestly! It’s hard… and you guys can’t even help!”

Mena shrugged, “Yeah. I liked working with Hitori. I miss her. Maybe I should give her a visit soon..”

“Yeah, but--! Oh I envy you! Hitori isn’t even related to you and yet you two get along better!”

Mena smiled, “You and Hemi been together longer now… you’ll get along better. I promise you.”

“I hope so…”

---

Hemi looked down at the Earth… So many things she missed. The world had changed so much. They’ve discovered new things… been through so much. She hadn’t. Hemi was starting to envy the humans.

Hemi snorted. It was so stupid! Her? Envy mere humans? Ha!

But… she did… why?

She hated emotions, though her occupation dealt with a lot of emotion. She hated to admit it but she had a lot of it too.

No one knew that one time, when she and Yume were younger, that Yume said she would befit as a DarkAngel. Hemi was mad but inside she was insulted and shameful. Her? A Dark Angel? That felt even worse than envying humans…

“Okay Yume, let’s go,” Hemi said to her younger sister.

Yume, who was staring at her feet, looked up, “Yes, let’s.” she paused, “Who’s going to write the final report later?”

Final Report

By Hemi and Yume

Case # 2: Prongs and Water Lily

Date: 1970s, 1980

Clients: James Potter and Lily Evans

Objective: Get James Potter and Lily Evans to fall in love.

Status: Cased Closed; Objective achieved.

Step One: Seeking Redemption

As you’ve probably seen ma’am, on our application, we’re seeking redemption for our failure. It made us really shameful… it always is. I do not feel very confidant because of our past case but we had some encouragement and decided to go back to work. Yume, my sister, has been hopeful. One thing we’d like to clearthough; Godric and Rowena were not hopeless. It was very wrong of the former Mistress to declare that. It wasn’t impossible. We had them together. We— I –-justmessed up.

I have to admit that Yume isn’t seeking that much redemption from any other than herself. She didn’t forgive herself for ruining the chance Godric and Rowena had. It wasn’t her fault at all! Even though I won’t admit it to her, I don’t blame her at all. Too bad I cannot tell her that.

When she chose this case; I thought she was dooming us to the Void once more. I was wrong. Like I was before.

These times now are incredibly different from the one we were born in. It’s taking time to get used to but… I think we’ll adapt to this century better. I am glad you got us out Mistress.

Yume was more than right to choose this case. I’ll love her forever for it. Our clients changed our lives. So I hope you’ll see why.

Step Two: Just Sit Back and Watch

The thing is ma’am we almost did nothing but sit and watch. Unlike their ancestors, Lily and James were the cooperative people. It wasn’t anything like the Godric and Rowena situation. I think a mistake there was that we didn’t take our time. Now I realize we should have. We only did one thing for Lily and James, which I will mention much later.

When we got to Earth and saw that castle once again, that Hogwarts, we felt a little nostalgic… but that soon changed. Awful to have children like that. Really! Awful children like that Severus Snape and Lucius Malfoy. Really! Awful, awful people. Then there were those before them… oh! How horrid!

Then they’re those pranksters. It was such a dismay to find that James Potter was a prankster. We’ve seen a lot of them in the void. Though frozen in time we were;awful. They’d escape a few seconds. Ugh! Now Lily reminded me of my dear sister… but also Mena. A smart but energetic kind of girl. We fell in love with her at once (though we still thought, even with his messy hair, that James Potter was a… how can I put it? A hottie? No… maybe not, but he was absolutely charming. Made me kind of wish I was human). I’m not very good with stories, that Yume’s forte, but I will try my hardest.

Step Three: Lily Evans and the Prejudice Sister

Some siblings don’t get along, I should know. Lily’s sister wasn’t always so bad… but… she was just plain jealous.

When Lily got her letter her family was excited. It was Lily’s birthday and there was a tap on the window… there was an owl. It’s odd how Magic folk communicate, isn’t it? Hmm… Anyway, even Petunia Evans was excited for her little sister. Unfortunately, she realized she never got a letter, ever, and was thrown in a fit of jealously. Petunia went in denial and began a hatred for anything remotely magical. I found this very interesting because I didn’t envy Yume one bit. Out mother thought us that who we are is who we are. There is no use to try to be any other. That was just plain pointless.

Petunia Evans glowered to hide her jealously. That was also plain. I wonder why nobody else noted that.

Step Four: When James met Lily

We knew at once when we spotted them both it was destiny. I said to Yume that we should take it one step at a time, not like last time, which I must continually refer to, I’m afraid. Yume agreed and also suggested that we shouldn’t interfere just yet. I liked the idea.

Lily and James met on the train but weren’t friends at first but they weren’t enemies either. On the contrary, when they formally met once more halfway through the first year, they became instant friends.

Since Yume wrote notes on our more detailed accounts with them; I shall rewrite hers.

“It was beautiful really. We had been waiting and waiting for them to finally meet. I had suggested to Hemi that we should let them counter naturally. Oddly enough, Hemi agreed.

It was Christmas of 1970… a quiet Christmas. At dinner there were mistletoes all around. James and Sirius were trying to get under everyone of them with the prettiest girls. James, while grinning might I add, had been tired and went out on the infamous Astronomy Tower. He was looking out at the stars they were absolutely beautiful that night…

He thought he was quite alone… then he heard someone say… ‘Gorgeous sky, isn’t it?’ James saw Lily… Lily was a beauty much like Rowena… but she was unfortunately unnoticed since redhead with green eyes weren’t considered beautiful at the time. James didn’t understand much about love… the mistletoe thing was just a prank on the girls. His other friends, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, refused to participate in such activities. Remus, I had a feeling, wouldn’t mind though if he got to kiss Sarah Mirand (one of the girls in the same dormitory as Lily).

James smiled and agreed with her. Lily asked him why wasn’t he down at the dinner. He replied, ‘I was too!’

Lily giggled and kissed his cheek. He asked, ‘What was that for?’

‘You had mistletoe silly! That’s why!’

They left the Astronomy as friends… but nothing more.”

Step Five: A Tragic Second Year

Second year, not much happened, but Yume said I must at least mention this account.

In second year a girl in Lily’s dormitory was killed by one name Voldemort who calls himself a lord. Ha! He’s far, far away from the Lord. This girl was Anne Heart. She’s one of the Restful Dead now… she was kind and loving soul. She was like a sister to Sarah Mirand and a constant companion with ones Jenna Heartily and Leah Tenshi (We had some account with them too…a more personal one). After she died an Arabella Figg had moved into the girls’ dormitory. Arabella felt their sadness along with them… Every person in the school did—the ones who had heart.

(Just after the case)

“You know I think our other cases during that one were harder than # 2!” Yume said to her sister.

“Oh I know…”

“Oh and Hemi?”

“What Yume?”

“You can take my notes for the final report…” Yume loved her notes. They were her memories… there was too much she forgot without notes, “Give them back to me after…okay?”

“Okay,” Hemi laughed, “I will.”

Step Six: Discovering Water Lily

It seemed in third year that Lily had bloomed. She participated more in class, especially Charms and boys seemed to notice her more. She didn’t bother with boyfriends though. She had already been heartbroken when she was younger. Some boy had left her for someone her considered prettier.

This year was a little dull, I think.. but then something unexpected happened. Voldemort came. He was going attack James – since he was the descendant of Gyffindor but he had gotten Lily instead.

James and his friends thought she’d died… they took her to the hospital wing where she stayed for quite awhile. He friends were close to mourning again. They were so devastated when they found out that another of their friends was hurt… and dying. Miraculously, Lily survived… Yume knew she’d be okay… I had hoped she would… (Also, I am glad that Cupids aren’t so responsible for failure nowadays… I do not want to go the Void again… I detest that place)

Lily had truly bloomed. She showed her heart more and about everyone fell in love with her. (Not in the lover kind of way)

Yume nicknamed her Water Lily.

Step Seven: Lily and James

There were only two things we needed to do that year…

It was an awfully beautiful year… but Lily and James were having a fight about something or other. Yume got worried. She’s very fond of them, you see. Loves them lots. Yume’s really overall too loving person. Well, Yume said that if they fight even more they’ll never get together… So… we got James to apologize but an empathy charm. Lily cried and they hugged. It was not the year they got together but it brought them closer together.

I must admit too, that I was fond of them too.

Step Eight: Some Secrets Are Best Left Secret

Fifth year was the year that James, Sirius and Peter became Animagi and also nicknaming themselves as Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs. I’m sure you’ve heard their story. If not, you will on Yume’s report for her # 3 case (we had taken two different cases at this time). This was when we realized about two girls that were in Lily’s dormitory that were perfect for Sirius and Remus. Yume and I agreed to take it on separately. Yume got the case with Remus; I took the one with Sirius. That was probably a stupid decision, but it was for the best.

Now Lily was suspicious that the boys were sneaking off every once a month. To where, she had no clue. James convinced her before the year was over though. He told her: “Lily, we go because we care. We’re not trying to hurt anyone. I promise you that.”

Lily questioned, “Then why won’t you tell me then?”

He responded, “Some secrets arebest left secret.” Lily wasn’t happy but she could understand. She always did.

That year they started to date. Some girls were jealous (because James used to date a lot of girls, a lot) but Lily ignored them Lily’s was truly a wonderful person.

Step Nine: Proposal

It was seventh year. A few nights before graduation, James invited Lily to the Astronomy Tower. They never snogged there before. Lily refused to but James was quite okay with it(they did kiss elsewhere). James knew what he wanted to do right after Hogwarts and that was to marry Lily Evans—the love of his life.

More notes from Yume:

“Lily came out that night and asked him, ‘Okay, so what’s wrong?’ James smiled widely at his love.

‘Oh nothing’s wrong… everything’s perfect…’

Lily raised one fine, red eyebrow, ‘Okay, what are you up to?’

James asked, ‘What makes you think I’m up to something?’

‘You have that look on your face.’

James moved closer towards her… Lily looked curiously at him, ‘Uh-uh! No snogging! I’ve told you before. I will not snog here.’

James chuckled, ‘Who said I wanted to do that?’ Lily bit her lip and James frowned ‘I’ll kill Sirius,’ he muttered. Lily giggled and James took the chance to kiss her.

‘Hey! I said—‘ before she could finish she felt James slip something unto her finger… ‘Wha…?’ she gasped softly, ‘Oh James!’

‘Won’t you marry me?’ he asked.

‘I thought the line was ‘will you marry me?’ not ‘won’t you marry me?’’ she giggled.

James looked at her seriously, ‘Is that a no?’

‘No, it’s a yes.’

After they went to an empty classroom. Lily promised on her mother’s death that she’d never ever snog in the Astronomy Tower.”

Step Ten: That Tragic Night

The end of our tale will be that one night of all Hallow’s Eve. Our dear Water Lily and Prongs tragic demise… a betrayal… death… and new hope… The hope that still lies within their child, Harry Potter. He’s staying with Lily’s horrid sister now… I pity him so… poor deary.. Lily and James were our hope… they’re gone now.. and we’ll get a chance to meet them here, I hope, but there’s still Harry… what are we to do? He reminds me of James and Godric both… but his eyes are those of Lily whom we adore. Now… we have our perfect couple…

We have a new James… but who’ll be his Lily? Or will Harry turn out to be Godric who’ll lose his Rowena?… we’ll see.

1995…

Yume mused, “Found out yet who is Harry’s Water Lily?”

Hemi shook her head, “’Fraid not… he may be Godric… but there’s those two girls…”

Yume shook her head, “No… not them… they don’t resemble Lily at all…”

“Ginny—“

“Red hair. That’s all.”

“Cho Chang—“

“Not Rowena. She’s too…”

“Rowena.”

“Maybe… but… what about…” she blinked, “Of course! Lily and Rowena!”

Hemi got confused. It was confusing enough they started using Lily and Rowena as comparison. Hemi rolled her eyes, “What on earth are you on about Yume?”

“I know the perfect combination of Lily and Rowena.”

“And who is that?”

“Hermione.”
