Chapter Two:

When Ron awoke the next day, he found a note on his bedside table.

'Ronald Weasley,

Please meet me in my office at 11:00am.
Albus Dumbledore.'

Ron looked puzzled at this invitation, but he still went. He didn't even bother telling Harry or Hermione. It couldn't be that important, could it?

"Sit down, Mr. Weasley," welcomed Professor Dumbledore as Ron took the seat on the left.

Seamus was also there, sitting on Ron's right.

Feeling the tension, Ron decided he would speak first.

"It wasn't me!" Ron burst out.

"Well I'm sure it wasn't." Dumbledore chuckled. "But you must be talking about something else."

"Oh." Ron blushed slightly.

"We are here today to discuss you House," began Professor Dumbledore.

"What's wrong with my house? Are my mum and dad okay?"

"Yes, yes. Everything is fine with your family. I am talking about your House at Hogwarts: Gryffindor."

"Okay..." Ron was still quite confused and thought that if they had been talking about The Burrow, he would have understood better.

"Seamus here has recognized the mistake that our Sorting Hat has made. I am afraid that its age may be getting the better of it. But don't worry, most of the time it's reliable."

"I see..." responded Ron, unsure of what he could say to all of this.

"Yes. It seems that you have been placed into the wrong house." Dumbledore smiled at this as if it could be a good thing? How could he be smiling at a time like this?

"Excuse me?" Ron looked as if someone had stunned him right there. It wouldn't have surprised him if it had been Seamus.

"You are not supposed to be in Gryffindor. Your true house is Slytherin," explained Dumbledore.

"Oh, I understand." Ron laughed. "This is a nightmare, right? Yeah, that's it! I'm dreaming! That makes sense now." Ron slouched back in his chair with a sigh of relief. It was all a joke, any second Fred and George would jump out from behind Dumbledore's chair and yell "Surprise!" However, all that happened was a smug grin from Seamus and Dumbledore's face became suddenly serious.

"No, Mr. Weasley. You are not dreaming. Your belongings have been brought down to your new dormitory. I trust you can find your way. You've been there once before." Dumbledore added with a small wink.

For a while Ron couldn't move. Now he was petrified. He was convinced that this was a dream. It couldn't possibly be real.

Ron decided to go along with the trick.

"Yes, Headmaster. Thank you."

"Don't thank me! Thank Seamus!"

Ron slumped down the spiral staircase. A flobberworm could have passed him. He was only half aware of where he was going. Wherever his feet went, that's where he went. Ron was still trying to figure out what just happened. What ever happened, he knew it was because of Seamus. Had Seamus actually been able to put his threat to action? Is this his way of keeping Ron away from Hermione?

When he finally came to the entrance to the Slytherin Common Room he realized that he didn't know the password. He sat against the cold stone wall and waited. Someone has to come out sooner or later.

Finally the door opened. It was Crabbe.

Ron stood up like a bolt of lightning. Finally someone came. It was Crabbe, but it was still someone.

"Get out of my way, Weasley. I'm not in a good mood." Crabbe walked past Ron purposely half knocking him over.

Ron's day couldn't get much worse so he tried his luck. "What's wrong with you, Crabbe?"

"Like I'm gonna tell the Weasel. It's not good, that's all you have to know."

"I bet it can't compare to my day," Ron challenged. "Try me."

Crabbe finally turned around to face Ron. His head was low and his words were barely audible.

"I'm in Gryffindor."

"What?" Ron couldn't believe it. Now this was proof that this was a dream! Him in Slytherin and Crabbe in Gryffindor? How could this be possible?

"I know. It's absurd."

"Well I'm in Slytherin now so you won't have to see me in Gryffindor Tower at least."

"Wow." Crabbe's usual dumbfounded look came across his face again. "It's like it's a switch or something." He was proud of his sudden revelation.

"Thanks, Einstein." Ron rolled his eyes.

"I'm Crabbe."

"I know," Ron said abruptly, deciding not to waste any time explaining sarcasm to Crabbe. "So what's the password?"

"Victorum. What's yours?"

"Discipuli Leonorum," responded Ron.

"Thanks, Weasley."

"Bye, Crabbe."

Ron waited until Crabbe had left completely and he changed into his Slytherin robes that he found beside the entrance to his new Common Room.

With a deep sigh, he stood in front of the entrance.

"Victorum."

The wall opened up and Ron entered despite how much he wanted to run up to his Common Room where Harry, Hermione and even Seamus were.

He couldn't be scared now. Not when he had to face people like Malfoy. Maybe he'd just sit on a sofa and hope that no one would notice him.

So he sat down on an old green sofa. It was a little smaller than the ones in Gryffindor Tower, but it would do.

A few minutes later, he got up to go up to his Dormitory when someone suddenly blocked his path.

"Weasels aren't good at sneaking," drawled the much hated voice.

"Piss off, Malfoy."

"Oh, I don't think I will. We need to have a little chat." Malfoy led Ron to his sofa. It was the best one in the Common Room. However, he only let Ron sit in the chair opposite him.

"So why are you here?"

Ron began to explain to Malfoy all about his meeting with Seamus and Dumbledore in his office.

"Seamus," concluded Malfoy.

"Yep," agreed Ron a little while later.

"So Seamus is behind all of this?" asked Malfoy.

"It has to be him. He's been acting weird all year. If you ask me, he should be in Slytherin. Not me."

Malfoy laughed.

"It's not that bad. Except this year's been a real joke. Crabbe, prefect? What's he got other than being able to do first year spells? Anyway, what did you really do to get in here? That guy who calls himself a Headmaster can't be serious."

"Seamus is unbelievably jealous. He's been picking fights, threatening, and don't forget hating Harry and I all year. He can't protect Hermione forever."

"All this for a mudblood?"

"Hey! I mean, yeah."

"Well, just forget about her. You're in Slytherin now. You'll be luck if we don't hate you already. Which we do."

"I'll try."

"Trying is for Gryffindors. And don't just pretend to be in Slytherin. You are in Slytherin. Whether you or I like it or not, you are. Branch out, don't be Potty's shadow anymore. That, or stay out of our way. For your own safety. I'm going to bed."

"Okay. Goodnight, Malfoy."

"Friends call me Draco," Malfoy added. "Just so you know."

A few minutes after Malfoy left for his Dormitory, Ron decided to finally go up to his. He saw that Dumbledore was right. All of his belongings were there. Malfoy and Goyle were asleep, but he didn't even notice. He passed out with his robes still on. He was too tired to care. What a stressful day.
