Sirius, I Never Knew!

"Lily, I've been in love with you for four years. I love the way your red hair glistens in the sun, and the way your green eyes sparkle. Meet me in the Gryffindor Common Room at midnight tonight. Farewell for now, my love! Your Secret Admirer," Lily read to Heather and Chloe.

"Oh my gosh, Lily! You've got a secret admirer!" Heather exclaimed!

"I know, but who would it be? No one likes me," Lily said.

"I don't know," Chloe told her, but when Lily looked back at the letter, Chloe winked at Heather.

"It's eight now, so I'm going to the library to get some homework done," Lily told her friends. Then, she picked up her bag, and headed for the library. *** Meanwhile, in the fourth year boys dorm...

"James,

I've been in love with you for four years. I love your untidy black hair, and your beautiful blue eyes. Meet me in the Gryffindor Common Room at midnight tonight. Farewell for now, my love! Your Secret Admirer," James read to Sirius.

"Who would be in love with you for four years?!" Sirius asked surprised.

"I don't know, but Sirius I'm going to need your help," James told him slyly.

"What?!" Sirius asked.

"Well, for all I know, this 'Secret Admirer' could be a hag. So, tonight at midnight, I want you to go down to the common room, and tell me if she's beautiful or not," James said.

"All right. As long as there's something in it for me," Sirius said slyly.

"What?" James asked.

"Well, next time we go to Hogsmeade, I want you to by me whatever I want from Honeydukes!" Sirius told his friend.

"Oh, all right! It's worth it," James said, and they shook hands. ***

Lily crept down the staircase from the girls dorms into the common room at five minutes to midnight. She sat down in one of the couches in front of the fire, and waited. She had five been sitting there for five minutes, when she heard a creak come from the boys staircase. She looked up, and gasped!

"Sirius! I never knew!" Lily exclaimed, and her face broke into a smile.

"Well, uh...Lily...I...thought," Sirius stammered.

"You thought what? I never would have guessed that it was you that sent me that secret admirer letter!" Lily told him.

Now, Sirius' brain figured it all out. 'Someone must have set Lily and James up! I bet it was Chloe, Heather, and Remus. Well, I might as well enjoy this as it lasts. I mean Lily, one of the prettiest girls at Hogwarts, likes me!' Sirius thought.

"Well, I did. I've been admiring you from afar all these years. Lily, will you be my girlfriend?" Sirius asked her when he had reached the couch she was sitting at, and sat beside her. Lily was shocked at this, and so was James, who had been hiding behind the corner from the boys staircase.

"W-w-well, uh...sure! I'd love to!" Lily said and put her arms around Sirius. When James saw this, his heart broke.

'How could Sirius do this to me? He knew I was in love with Lily!' James thought angrily.

'Hopefully, this will make James jealous, and he'll be mine,' Lily thought happily. ***

"Lily, who was the secret admirer?" Chloe asked Lily on the way to the Great Hall for breakfast.

"It was Sirius! I still can't believe it!" Lily told her.

"What?!" Chloe shrieked.

'It was supposed to be James! Why was it Sirius?' Chloe thought.

"I know, that's how I was when he came down the staircase. He looked surprised to see me though," Lily said thoughtfully.

When they got to the Great Hall, Lily went over to the Gryffindor table, and sat by Sirius. Chloe saw that they were holding hands when she sat down.

"Heather, Remus, meet me in the Common Room at eight! It's urgent!" Chloe whispered to Heather and Remus. They nodded. ***

At eight that night, Chloe and Heather went down to the Common Room. They searched for Remus, and saw him sitting at a table in a corner.

"What is it?" Remus and Heather asked Chloe simultaneously.

"James didn't go down to the Common Room last night, Sirius did," Chloe explained. "Now, Lily thinks that Sirius likes her, and now, they're going out."

"That wasn't supposed to happen," Heather said nervously.

"Great! Now what are we going to do?" Remus asked the girls.

"We need another plan. We have to get Lily and James alone together. But where?" Chloe told them.

"I don't know," Remus replied.

"How about in the broom closet next to the Great Hall?" Heather said.

"That's perfect! How are we going to get them there?" Chloe asked.

"I know! Tomorrow evening, I'll drag James out of the Great Hall saying that we need to do something right then. When we get out, I'll shove him into the closet and lock the door. Then, you two do the same with Lily. But we've got to make sure we get their wands," Remus explained.

"What about Sirius?" Chloe asked. "I know! I'll explain that we have to get Lily and James together, or all hope is lost for them. Hopefully he'll understand." Remus and Heather nodded their heads.

"I'll go talk to Sirius, he'll listen to me," Remus said getting up.
