How Wrong Were They

    "Let the feast begin!" Dumbledore said sitting down, and the plates filled with food.

    They had finally arrived at Hogwarts, and were in the Great Hall enjoying the feast. Lily had just put her hand on a chicken leg while talking to Heather, when James put his hand on the same chicken leg while talking to Sirius. Lily felt something on top of her hand, and turned to see James' hand on hers! She blushed, and pulled her hand away before James could notice.

    "Oh, sorry, Lily!" James exclaimed.

    'He had noticed!' Lily thought.

    "I thought your hand was a chicken leg!" and he laughed.

    "Very funny, James! I don't see how girls like you!" Lily yelled.

    "I'm hurt, Lily! Not here, but here," James said, pointing to his heart then his head.

    "That's not funny!" Lily replied.

    "James, I wouldn't go any farther with Lily," Remus whispered in James' ear. "She's turning red!"

    "Oh, Lily! I love what you've done with your face! Did you mean to make it as red as your hair?!" James asked in a girlish voice.

    "JAMES POTTER! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU! I TRY TO BE NICE TO YOU, BUT IT'S NO USE!" Lily shouted, and ran out of the Great Hall with Chloe at her heels.

    "Lily! James was just being James! He's always like that!" Chloe told her when they had reached their dormitory.

    "B-but h-h-he's al-always d-do-doing i-it t-to me!" Lily wailed, her face in her pillow, crying.

    "Lily, he likes you that's why!" Chloe told the weeping girl.

    "What makes you say that?!" Lily asked, now sitting up straight on the bed, but tears were still leaking out of her eyes.

    "When he thinks that no one is looking, he stares at you! I've seen it! Have you noticed that every girl envies you! They would love to have James Potter, Quidditch Captain, and cutest guy in school, pay as much attention to them as he does to you!" Chloe said.

    "Chloe, I think you've gone mad!" Lily told her friend.

    "You might think that, but I'm right, and I know I am!" Chloe said confidently.

    "Chloe, can you keep a secret?" Lily asked.

    "Of course! What is it?!" Chloe replied eagerly

    "Well, since the first day I laid eyes on James Potter, I've been in love with him! It's not puppy love! Whenever I see him, whenever he looks at me, whenever he speaks to me, I get this sensation in my stomach! But I can never say one nice thing to him! Everything I say to him comes out in insults!" Lily cried. She buried her face into Chloe's shouldered, and started crying.

    "It's okay, Lily. I won't tell anyone," Chloe told her reassuringly, patting her head. But Lily didn't notice the glint in Chloe's eye.

    'I've got to tell Heather and Remus! This is perfect!' Chloe thought smiling.
