Chapter 10: Use Your Words

Jenna stood rigid and hard. She knew her eyes were fixed with fury; she could feel the heat in her eyes. Harry stood across from her. His mouth hung open, eyes were wide. He was silent and looking very uncomfortable. At the moment, Jenna felt the need to just lunge at him and start pounding her fists into his oversized head.

Jenna then became aware that Draco was still standing next to her for she could feel his burning glare as well. But she wouldn't turn to look at him; she refused to break her contact with Harry. She didn't say a word, only watched him hatefully as he squirmed under her gaze. She didn't think that she could talk anyway; she was too confused and shocked.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw Draco coming up on her right side. He looked almost as pissed as she felt. Draco began to open his mouth to say something foul, but Jenna raised her hand to silence him and he stopped. She saw Harry almost laugh. Her mood remained hard. She had stopped Draco because she wasn't about to let him and Harry go at it the way boys do. Too much testosterone for her liking. This had to be handled just the right and there was no way that Draco could pull that off; Harry hated him too much. At least she and Harry had some sort of understanding.

Finally feeling a little more composed, she took a few steps forward and placed herself only inches from Harry's face. He looked intimidated, but tried to hold his pride. She looked into his eyes for a second before speaking. "Potter, you saw nothing, you know nothing. Pretend it never happened." She didn't even utter a threat, but you could her it in her voice. He looked slightly flabbergasted by her words. He stuttered before responding.

"But...what's going on? I thought you hated Malfoy."

She took a deep breath and tried to think of a way to explain it before she realized that there was no need to. She didn't owe him an explanation. "What goes on between me and Draco is no business of yours or anyone else's. And I'd like to keep it that way." He narrowed his eyes as if trying to read her. She remained cold hoping he wouldn't see through her.

"But I..."

"But nothing. This is between me and him and that's that. I don't think there is a need for anymore discussion on this subject." Harry's mouth was open a little as though he was going to say more, but seeing the somberness of her eyes, he quickly shut it. He nodded and again the mutual agreement shot through them wordlessly. He kept eye contact for another second, took one last disgusted glance at Malfoy, and walked back out the door.

Jenna let out a little sigh of relief. She knew Harry would keep his word. Plus she didn't think he wanted to think about her and Draco kissing ever again. She had the situation under control. For now.

Then she felt arms wrap around her waist and squeeze. She turned and faced Draco with a skeptical look. "You handled that well. You have an amazing power of persuasion. Are you sure you power to control people? Or is it just natural charm?" Draco said flirtatiously. Jena scoffed. Draco could be such a geek sometimes. He was looking at her sensually, the way he always did when she was near, but he was especially happy at the moment. Probably got a rise out of the confrontation with Harry. What a freak.

"Now where were we," he said as he leaned over and began kissing her neck gently. Jenna pushed him away roughly. Not that it didn't feel good, but she couldn't believe that this is what he was thinking about right now. He looked at her questioningly. She placed her hand over his face and shoved him backwards before she sauntered out of the room shaking her head.

She had trouble sleeping the next couple nights, as she usually did. She kept thinking about the look on Harry's face when he saw her with Draco. He looked so disgusted, revolted, sickened, grossed out, nauseated, freaked, appalled...with her. For some reason that bothered her. She didn't like Harry at all, but she respected him in some sense and she just wanted him to have that same respect for her. And now it looked like it might be gone. He agreed to stay quiet about the whole thing, but that could just be because he didn't care or whatever. Harry must think so lowly of her now and that made Jenna a little sad.

Realizing this, Jenna became perplexed. Why would I be sad, she asked herself. She felt like she had lost something. But she had lost nothing but the respect of a loser who she didn't even like so it made no sense to be upset about it. Jenna tried to brush it off as fear that he might tell someone or have one up on her.

That was something else that was annoying her. Now Harry Potter had dirt on her. He had something to hold over her head that he could blackmail her with. Of course if he tried she'd just kick the crap out of him, but the idea of him having any power over her did not sit right with her. She had control issues, this she knew.

And then the questions began to pound in her head. Why had Harry been there? Was he purposely looking for her because he thought something was up? Was he spying on them? Was the little twerp peeking through the door laughing and gawking, plotting the best way to use it against her? Paranoia took over her thoughts and caused the feeling of hate to resurface.

Over the next few days the anger began to spread the more she thought about it. When the day of the Quidditch match came, Jenna had riled herself up into a frenzy against her enemy. Unfortunately her enemy was her teammate. She had to control herself for the team. Luckily she was hating Draco at the moment also. He had just been getting on her nerves more than usual and she had been trying to avoid him. She didn't need anyone else catching them together.

Jenna entered the Gryffindor locker room, barely on time, and found the rest of her team already changed. They were getting ready for what she figured was the pre-game pep talk. How cute, she thought amused. They glared at her while she quickly changed into her robes, obviously annoyed at her tardiness. Harry was the only one who kept his eyes on the ground, but she ignored this. When she was done, she squeezed into the little huddle they had formed.

After a few moments of overdramatic silence, the captain, Angelina, spoke up. "Well everyone this is my last year and some of your last years as well, making this our last time playing Slytherin. We have a fight ahead of us as we all know that Slytherin plays rough...and dirty. And they have a really good team this year. But I can proudly say that we have the better team. You guys have trained hard and are looking amazing. I know we can win this. So if not for the satisfaction of watching their snooty faces crumple in disappointment, help win this game for me and the rest of the seventh year Gryffs." The whole team cheered in agreement, even Jenna who had a liking for Angelina. Then they all put their hands in the middle and chanted, "Win! Win! Win! Gooooooo Gryffindor!"

As they approached the entrance to the field Jenna felt the excitement and anxiety rise. She looked at her teammates and saw the same feeling scrawled across their faces. Jenna really wanted to win this game. She had grown an attachment to the game(even if she was still partial to hockey and baseball). Not only that but she wanted to show everyone that she was more than a bitchy American with superpowers, that she could actually do something on her own with her own skills. Maybe then people would stop thinking of her as the Antichrist and see her as a regular girl. Of course she'd have to be nice and she wasn't about to do that so it was pretty much out of the question anyway.

Finally the commentator, seventh year Lee Jordan, announced the Gryffindor team. Jenna mounted her Firebolt and waited for her name to be called. First the Chasers were introduced and Angelina, Katie, and Kelly bolted out into the arena. Then came keeper and George was gone. I'm next, ohmigod, ohmigod! Fred leaned over and said, "Let's kick some slimy Slytherin butt!" He put out his hand and she high fived it. Jenna took a deep breath and her name was called. This is it...

Harry hurried into the locker room hoping he wasn't late. As he shoved open the doors he saw most of his team already there and beginning to change. They muttered nervous hellos. Harry let out a relieved sigh that he had made it on time. He had been researching with Ron and Hermione in the library again and lost track of time.

Harry was totally pumped for the game. He reviewed all the plays they had practiced while he slipped on his gear. They all began to assemble in the center of the room for the usual talk when he heard the doors slam open. He saw Jenna standing in the doorway looking out of breath and a little sheepish. She ignored the teammates stares as she changed and joined them. Harry tried not to look at her. Every time he did he got a nasty mental image.

When the talk was over they all headed out for the introducing of the teams that is customary. Harry began to get nervous the way he sometimes does before games. It was especially important that they win this game. It was against Slytherin. Not only was it a matter of pride, but whoever won this game was most likely to win the Quidditch Cup.

Harry then looked up at his team and saw Jenna. She was bouncing on the balls of her feet, from nerves Harry guessed. She was biting her bottom lip and looking around anxiously. In that moment she looked so normal and he had the urge to walk up to he and reassure her.

Harry shook it off as he heard the names echoing throughout the stadium. He prepared himself for what he knew would be a bloody battle. He was the last to be called. When he kicked off the ground and soared into the air he barely heard all the cheers around him. He began to lose himself in the feeling of flying. He loved this.

Jenna was frozen in amazement as she rose into the sky. There were so many people all around, most of them sporting red and gold. She saw many banners cheering them on. One that caught her eye was flashing a symbol of a lion with a snake in its mouth that read "Gryffindor, Gryffindor, use Slytherin to wipe the floor!" She wondered how they got it to flash, but quickly remembered that magic was probably used.

Jenna saw the game was about o begin so she moved into position next to Kelly while Fred was on the other side next to Katie. A lump became lodged in Jenna's throat and she was finding it hard to breathe. She was so jittery. She had never felt so nervous.

Before she could completely collect herself, Madame Hooch blew the whistle and threw up the Quaffle. Jenna forgot what to do for a moment and just hovered in the air like an idiot. Just then Fred circled around her and yelled for her to take the Bludger on the right. Finally things began to click with her and she zoomed off on her broom and pulled up beside Kelly. The Bludger reached her just then and Jenna whacked it fiercely. It flew out of sight and a cheer went through the crowd.

"And what a great recovery by Jenna Scoot who knocked that Bludger clear out of the arena! I see a new star player in the makings!" Lee Jordan boomed. Jenna felt a wildly pleased smile spread across her face. She loved this.

Harry watched with awe as Jenna made a spectacular save. She had seemed shaky at first, but it looked as if she was getting into it rather quickly.

Harry had not yet seen the Snitch and he could tell Draco hadn't either. He had barely moved from his position since the start of the game.

Harry decided to just watch the game for a bit while he kept his eye out for the little golden ball. So far Gryffindor had already scored twice; once by Angelina, who just seconds ago had flung the Quaffle past the Slytherin keeper and the other score had been by Kelly, who was able to get away after Jenna blocked the Bludger.

Out of the corner of his eye Harry saw Draco begin to move. Harry watched him carefully as the green and silver robed Slytherin searched the air. Harry saw nothing, but he was far from Draco. Suddenly Draco plunged into a dive at incredible speed. Harry, who had the faster broom, hoped that he could catch up as he rapidly dove in Draco's direction. The two boys merged together and raced towards the ground side by side. Draco shoved into Harry who shoved right back. Draco reached his hand out and Harry followed suit, praying he'd get there before Draco.

Then unexpectedly Draco pulled up. Had he gotten the Snitch? Harry wondered feeling his heart sink. But Harry didn't get answer before he crashed into the grass below him. He had been so worried about the Snitch that he had forgotten to pull up himself. Harry tumbled and somersaulted when he hit the ground. Pain shot through his arm which he had landed on. He yelped in pain and his eyes blurred over. He soon realized he couldn't see because his glasses had bounced off on impact. He scrambled to retrieve them. After placing them back on and supporting his arm carefully he looked up at the sky. Draco was sitting on his Nimbus 2001 laughing like a hyena. The Wronski Feint, Harry thought hatefully. He had been tricked.

Jenna stopped in her tracks, as did the rest of the Gryffindors, when she saw Harry and Draco battle it out on the way to the ground. The lump returned to her throat. They could either win or lose in a matter of seconds. Then Harry collided with the ground. Jenna winced. She heard all her teammates screaming something about the Wronkey Tonkey Felt or something. Boos were heard from most areas of the stadium. She saw Fred slam a Bludger at a laughing Draco who barely ducked out of the way. Meanwhile Slytherin had snuck in four more goals and was now up 50 to 30.

Harry was back on his broom in no time and the game resumed. Jenna cautiously continued her job, hoping that the Slytherins wouldn't suddenly attack her. She was pretty sure that Draco wouldn't be a part of it if it did happen since he was her lap dog so she tended to stay in his vicinity. This also made it easier for her to hit him with a Bludger if he really did spot the Snitch. Draco basically stayed near the Slytherin goal, but occasionally did a few laps around the field. Jenna tailed him taking detours every once in a while to save a teammate in distress. So far she hadn't missed a Bludger and no one on the Gryffindor team had gotten hit yet. She was happy to say that she was accomplishing her job well.

She was now flying around casually. Both Bludgers were in Fred's zone and he was handling them just fine on his own. He hadn't signaled for help yet. She then saw Harry coming up on her left, looking for the Snitch. Draco was there too. She watched them carefully and felt her rage towards Harry start to marinate inside again. Just thinking about recent events and seeing them both was enough to make her want to lash out. Then Harry had the nerve to look up at her. And stare at her. Intently. His eyes stayed on her for a few more moments then darted in Draco's direction and back again. It was like he was judging and criticizing her wordlessly. Jenna felt an explosion of rage burst from inside her as Harry began to zoom towards the Snitch which he had now spotted.

She saw a Bludger that was zeroing on her. She lined up the shot and when it was near enough she smashed it downwards with all her might. Right at Harry. With fumes of anger rising from her head she watched as the heavy brown ball slammed into Harry's already injured arm causing him to spin wildly off. She smiled with satisfaction as he screamed in agony. He almost lost his grip and began to slide off, but quickly gained his balance and held on tight.

Jenna was basking in glory until she heard her teammates as well as the whole audience and Lee Jordan cursing and yelling at her. She snapped with realization that Draco was inches from capturing the Snitch and winning the game. She circled around and hurtled down towards him. She found the Bludger that had rebounded off of Harry and smacked it at Draco hoping she wouldn't miss. She breathed easy as the ball collided with Draco's stomach as he approached the ground. It was enough force to knock him off his broom. And while Jenna took care of Draco, Harry had recovered, caught the Snitch, and won the game.

Jenna didn't have time to celebrate because as soon as she landed her Firebolt she was bombarded by her team. They were all yelling furiously at her, claiming that she had jeopardized their chances of winning and were angry that she had attacked a teammate. She stood quietly not at all regretting what she had done. She then felt a tap on her shoulder.

She spun around a little annoyed and came face to face with a red faced and fuming Harry Potter. He glared at her furiously. She kept up her nonchalant demeanor waiting for him to speak first.

"How could...why...I don't get...you're such a..." Harry stuttered, too angry to string together a clear sentence.

"What? What are you gonna do? Absolutely nothing. There's nothing you can do. You gonna hit a girl? No, because you're too good, too saintly, you're perfect Harry Potter," Jenna spit at him mockingly. He just burned his emerald eyes deeper into her own. She gave her wicked half smile as Harry remained silent. She was about to turn away when he finally replied.

"There is something I can do...or tell to be exact."

Jenna immediately became hard and narrowed her solid gray eyes. "You wouldn't."

"Why not? I mean it is some juicy info I'm sure everyone would be interested in," Harry stated with revenge dripping in his voice.

"This is true, but I would only do it if you are looking forward to my foot up your ass!" she returned now obviously losing composure.

"Well you should stick to your own kind!" he said referring to her affair with the Slytherin.

"Look who's talking, Mister 'I swoon over the Ravenclaw Seeker'!" Harry felt his cheeks become a deeper shade of crimson and hoped that Cho was nowhere nearby. He had no response to this so Jenna continued. "I don't think you even want to try to take me anyway. Trust me, I would make you wish that Voldemort had killed you 15 years ago!" Harry tried to speak at this, but Jenna refused to give him the satisfaction. "You know what happened the last time England faced off against America? England was pummeled by a bunch of farmers with pitch forks! You know why? Because you damn British are a bunch of pansy assed losers who have their heads stuck up their butts! You all think you are so superior, treating me like I'm trash. Well, I've got news for you Harry Potter, there's a new Queen in England and she's a bitch!" Jenna had never felt so angry in her entire life. Harry's face mirrored how she felt. His fists were balled and his face was clenched in a ferocious stare. Jenna soon realized that she was doing the same.

"I hate you," Harry whispered his voice full of loathing.

"Not as much as I hate you," she responded equally as hateful. And before Jenna could even think she had thrown herself onto Harry and began to clobber him with he rock solid fists. She punched him over and over again. She felt someone try to grab her from behind, but she just used one hand to fling them away easily.

In that moment in which she had loosened her hold on Harry, he had taken hold of he shoulders and flipped her onto her back. Before he could get a firm grip, Jenna had delivered a furious right hook to his left cheek followed by a nasty uppercut to the chin. In the struggle to hold her down he felt his elbow accidentally connect with her stomach only to receive a knee in the groin in return. After more of a battle, Jenna still kicking and throwing people away who tried to stop them and Harry taking hits and trying to restrain her, Harry finally pinned her legs down with his own legs. He held down one of her arms with one hand and he managed to trap the other arm behind her back. Harry was seething with pain and fury so he began to raise his free hand. He aimed at her face and started to bring it down, but stopped midway. Harry just looked down at this girl, a girl who had been pissing him off since she arrived, a girl who was friends with Malfoy, a girl who had tried to ruin the Quidditch match, a girl who just kicked his ass, a girl he absolutely hated. Despite all these things he couldn't bring himself to hit her. And part of him knew that it wasn't just because she was a girl. He stared into her icy eyes one last time before he got to his feet, knowing he was all bloodied and bruised, freed her from his grasp, and began to walk away.

Jenna laid there for a minute, utterly confused and completely pissed at the fact that Harry wouldn't fight her. Did he think he was too good to fight with the likes of her? Did he not want to hit a girl in front of all these people? Was he trying to play the saint again? Jenna quickly picked herself up off the ground and began to rush towards the retreating Harry. She raised her arm to send him sailing, but this time found she was being held back. She thrashed violently, but it was no use. There were too many of them and they were tightly gripping her hands. After Harry was out of sight, Jenna gave the crowd surrounding her a glare so deadly that many stepped backwards and her captors let her go. Madame Hooch gave her a nasty glare and began to escort her off the field, when Draco step in their path. He was looking pissed. He started to open his mouth to complain, but Jenna raised her arm and socked him right in the face before continuing off the field with a now even more furious Madame Hooch.
