Chapter 9: Absolute Perfection
It had been about three weeks from the attack on Seamus and still people were shaken up. No more attacks had happened yet, but everyone was still on edge. No one had any clue what had happened to him as no information was released. But rumors were flying around faster than a Firebolt. Some were saying that some jealous student slipped something in Seamus's drink. Some said that he was mauled by a Rainbow Magpile, a dangerous creature that stole colors from objects to make rainbows. They were supposed to be the sidekicks of leprechauns. The Magpiles made the rainbows and leprechauns left pots of disappearing gold at the ends just to trick unsuspecting magical people and Muggles. Other people said it was a botched spell. But most guesses usually led back to one common thing...Voldemort.
But that's not what Jenna cared about right now. She had other things on her mind. So much stuff was going on she couldn't really even control her thought process; it skipped from subject to subject before she was able to sort anything out.
At the moment she was supposed to be concentrating on Professor Flitwick's Charms lesson. He was almost done with what he had to teach her for the year. They had breezed through Summoning Charms. Jenna found that she really didn't need to learn that one as she was able to summon things to her without a wand. But she had practiced it anyway because Flitwick asked her to. Just in case, he had said. She obliged. She liked Flitwick. He was a nice enough guy and Jenna found no reason to hassle him.
Jenna was almost done with her second year of classes and they were moving along well. She pretty much got special tutoring sessions from the teachers because of her situation. Because of this, all the attention was on her and they could help her out more than they could in a large class. This made the learning process quicker. According to her schedule she only had one more week of her second year classes and she could move on.
But the work was piling on more than ever especially since Christmas break was only 2 1/2 weeks away. That was something else she was upset about. She wanted to go home and spend Christmas with her family and friends, but she couldn't. She had to stay and do class through most of the break. Not too many people were staying as far as she knew. But it seemed all the people that annoyed her were staying. Including Harry.
Not only that but her first Quidditch match was coming up in a week. It was a lot of hard work, more than she thought it would be. But she liked it. The team was double timing the practice sessions and staying out at all hours. Well, actually she was the only one staying up late to practice. Sometimes at night after most people went to bed she would go out to the Quidditch pitch and fly around while hitting a few balls. She found it soothing, to be floating away, high above the ground where no dark power or bad thought could reach her.
Anyway, they're first match was against Slytherin, the most important game of the year. It was the game that both sides would fight fiercely to win. The Gryffindors would put their whole hearts into it and the Slytherins would be ruthless and harsh. Jenna already knew the game was going to be played dirty. She had been told stories of past Gryffindor/Slytherin matches and they were brutal. Plus now that she was on the team the tension was sure to be higher than ever.
And speaking of Slytherins, she had been having some very...interesting encounters with one silver haired Slytherin a lot lately. Every day she saw him and he always stared at her with these longing looks like a puppy in love. But he only did this when he thought no one, especially her, was looking. Whenever she would turn to face him, his eyes would harden and he'd either scowl or smirk. He tried to pretend he was in control, but Jenna knew nothing had changed. She still held the power.
Jenna made sure she maintained that power too. There had been several incidences where Draco had tried to put the moves on her or act like he owned her and every time she would brush him off like a fly on her shoulder. But when she wanted something, she would approach him and take it without even consulting him first. And he would give it to her. There were a couple times where she had grabbed him from the hall and pulled him into an empty classroom just to make out. Draco never resisted either. He accepted her kisses eagerly because he knew she could stop at any moment. He knew that Jenna decided when things started and when they stopped. Jenna was Queen and Draco knew it. Sometimes Jenna wondered if he got off on it. That maybe the idea of a strong, forceful girl excited him. Actually Jenna was pretty sure that this was the case, otherwise Draco probably wouldn't stand back and accept her punishment as much as he did. Ever since the night of the duel Draco had seemed more intoxicated with her than before.
Jenna often thought of that night. She didn't know what had come over her. Originally, her plan was just to find Draco, taunt him a bit, remove the spell, and laugh at his reaction. But once she got there it was like all her anger and pain intensified. Everything that had been pissing her off for three months seemed to come flooding to the front of her brain and made her lose control. Seeing Draco had brought that out of her. He epitomized everything she hated about her life. He was the perfect example of British arrogance, rich snobbiness, and magical power. So when she saw him standing there she decided to take her aggression out on him.
For a couple moments there Jenna thought she might have actually killed him if the opportunity had arisen. And that scared her. She had never felt so enraged, so lost, so violent. This place was changing her and she didn't like who she was becoming. She was turning into a vengeful, nasty, and downright cruel human being. Jenna wondered what her friends and family would think of her if they saw her now. She knew they'd be disappointed in her. To them she had always been a caring, funny, sweet, and considerate person. She always put other people's feelings before her own.
But Jenna couldn't do that anymore. She had ignored her own inner pain for too long and she figured that's why she was lashing out now. It was easy to do it here at Hogwarts. Here she didn't have anyone she cared about so she didn't have to feel guilty about hurting them. That's why she was so hard on Draco. She hated the little rat so she was able to treat him like shit because she had no remorse about it. And she thought he was cute so she was also able to get some pleasure out of him as well. Draco was just too easy to manipulate. And everytime she took advantage of him, she'd walk away with a feeling of strength, relaxation, and oddly enough, inner peace. She guessed this was because she'd use him to get all her frustrations out.
Jenna felt the overwhelming amount of emotions returning as she thought about all this. And on top of it Professor Flitwick was scolding her for screwing up a simple charm for the eighth time. Jenna figured it was time for another visit with Draco.

"Listen to me. We have to move quickly if we want to survive."
"Hermione, stop being so dramatic! It's just a test!" Ron said flatly.
"Ronald Weasley, you of all people should be taking this test seriously. You're the one who's been complaining about his grades and asking me to tutor you for the past couple months," Hermione stated slightly annoyed at his lack of worry. Ron rolled his eyes quickly, but then looked back at Hermione and nodded for her to continue.
"Okay, so this potion involves many fast acting ingredients so they all must be added at the right moment or they will become useless. Or worse, it could cause an explosion or even a deadly liquid. Don't forget, Snape is making one person drink someone's potion at the end of the exam and you don't want to be responsible for the death of a student. You'd surely fail the test then."
Ron gapped at her for a moment and said, "I've said it before and I'll say it again. You really need to get your priorities straight." To his surprise, Hermione chuckled a bit and handed him one of the ingredients, a leaf from a Hobwobble plant.
"Ok, you're right. But really, all I meant is that if you want a good grade you have to follow my instructions. So let's go over this again. You give it a shot this time." Hermione pushed the rest of the materials over to a nervous and unsure looking Ron. She watched as he began to mince the Hobwobble leaf. Then he measured a small vile of distilled Malaclaw venom. Then he extracted the eye of newt from the jar and placed it next to the freshly prepared Golanada oil that sat in a tiny cup. He then took a deep breath and started the mixing order. First he dumped the Golanada oil into the cauldron and let it heat for a few seconds. Then he sprinkled the Hobwobble shreds in and poured the Malaclaw venom in immediately. He counted to ten and rapidly dropped in the eye of newt. Ron then curled back and closed his eyes as if expecting it to explode.
After a few moments with no reaction, he opened his eyes and peered in. It was the perfect shade of purple and was steaming at the right density. He turned to Hermione with a goofy grin. "Hey! I did it!"
"Yes! You did great! See? You are capable of doing this stuff if you really try, Ron. Congratulations!" Hermione then reached over and gave Ron a big hug. She enfolded her arms around his back and squeezed with earnest pride. He returned the hug gratefully. When they pulled back, their eyes met and the smiles slide off their faces. They looked at each other not knowing what to do, but knowing what they wanted to do. Slowly they began to lean their heads in, moving ever closer to each other. Ron felt his hands become wet with sweat. Hermione's heart began to pound a hole through her chest. They parted their lips and were just about to touch when a noise came from the other side of the room.
Hermione and Ron jumped apart wildly as Harry strolled in through the open portrait hole. Harry glanced curiously at the odd expressions on his friends' faces, but dismissed it as more important things were at hand.
"Okay guys, I have Quidditch practice later since the match is in a week so if were going to go research the thing that attacked Seamus, we better go now." They just nodded and hastily put away whatever they were working on.
The three of the started out the door and headed for a short cut; they had decided to cut across the grounds outside. They had so little time to work because of Harry's practice that they wanted to utilize all the time they could.
It was getting very cold out as they were entering December. They could see their breaths in front of them. Hermione had her arms wrapped around her chest and she was rubbing her arms. Harry saw Ron whisper something to her and she shook her head. Harry didn't know what was going on with them, but figured it wasn't anything bad or they'd tell him.
They were halfway there as they approached Hagrid's hut. They were about to pass it when two people emerged. One was obviously Hagrid by the giant height and husky voice they heard. The other was tiny compared to him, but most people were. The two of them came closer and Harry saw that Hagrid's companion was Professor Croft. He should have guessed. He had been seeing the two of them together all over the school lately. They were always talking intently or giggling. And let me tell you, Hagrid giggling is a weird sight.
This time was no different as they were standing incredibly close and staring into each other's eyes as they spoke. Harry almost gasped when he saw that she had her arm linked around Hagrid. The flirting between them was getting ridiculous, never mind the fact that it was not pleasant to see either. And by the way, what happened to Madame Maxime?
Ron and Hermione seemed to feel the same as they turned their heads away and continued on the journey to the library. When they got there it was pretty empty with only one corner containing a few seventh year Hufflepuffs.
The three friends quickly claimed a table near the back and set their stuff down. They hurriedly found a section they hadn't searched yet and whipped out a few books each and sat back down.
"Okay, so when I talked to Dumbledore he wasn't to keen into giving up much information, but he spouted out a few subtle clues like he usually does. Now I know we've been over this before but I'm going to go over it again in case we've forgotten something, alright?" Harry instructed as his friends nodded. "So when I told Dumbledore about the dream, he seemed interested and I inquired if it was a premonition."
"But Harry, did you ask him if it might have something to do with Voldemort? You used to have dreams about him last year and they all came true," Ron said.
"I mentioned this to Dumbledore and he said it was possible, but that last year they weren't really dreams. They were actually happening at that moment and I was watching it as I slept. This time I saw the creature before it attacked."
"Well it could still be a premonition. It has to be, otherwise it's a hell of a coincidence that you dreamt about that creature without even knowing what it was," Ron replied.
"I know and Dumbledore never actually ruled out the idea of a premonition. I also asked him if he thought Voldemort might be involved and be the cause of my dreams. All he said was that it was a possibility, but said there was no reason to believe that he was part of it, that the creature probably wandered in off the streets."
"What does he mean that Voldemort wasn't involved! Does he think it's just coincidence that a crazy beast starts attacking students as soon as Voldemort has returned to full power? I mean the thing came to Gryffindor Tower where you are Harry," Ron practically screamed.
"Yes Ron, but it didn't attack me did it Ron? It would have if Voldemort was behind this."
"Did you ever think that this thing might just be that stupid! I mean it is an animal!"
"Okay Ron calm down, I didn't say that Voldemort's not part of this for sure. It's just right now I trust Dumbledore's judgment. Okay?" Ron only nodded, but didn't look at all satisfied.
"Anyway, the only other things he told me where stuff that we basically already knew. That Seamus' powers are gone and that his personality was taken too."
"His personality or his soul?" Hermione asked curiously.
"Well the exact thing that he said was "essence". Like the part of someone that makes them who they are, that special something that makes them different. That's why Seamus has no color to him, it's why he's completely black and white because there is nothing left in him that differentiates him from other people."
Ron scoffed. "Well I think the fact that he's black and white differentiates him from everyone else now."
"You know what I meant. Look, this is all the information that we can use that I got out of him. Dumbledore wouldn't even tell me the name of the thing. But I think he wanted me to know something about it so I can protect myself. I think I'm supposed to find out what it is."
"If you're supposed to know than why didn't he just tell you then!" Ron spit with annoyance.
"Maybe he's not supposed to tell me and you know it's not like Dumbledore to go against the rules unless it is necessary. I think he's given me enough that we can figure this out...eventually."
Hermione nodded," You know how he is. He wants us to learn things for ourselves and not just be told. He's preparing us for life after Hogwarts."
"Why can't we just learn that when we actually are out of Hogwarts? I mean this is a life and death situation," Ron sneered.
"Oh come on Ron. Get over it, things aren't going to change. Plus to be accurate, it's not a life and death situation. Seamus won't die according to what Dumbledore said on the night it happened." Ron just mumbled something that sounded like something foul, but Hermione ignored him and continued. "But Seamus no longer has his powers which could potentially be dangerous if Voldemort or anyone attacks. Then Seamus wouldn't be able to protect himself; he'd be a sitting duck. So we still have to try and figure this out as fast as we can." Harry agreed and Ron just sighed angrily as he opened the books in front of him and began to search.
Nothing really struck them as useful. For a moment Hermione thought she had found it only to realize that the creature in the book didn't posses the ability to take powers except by killing the victim. They left the library and hour later. Ron and Hermione walked together back to the common room while Harry scampered off to the Quidditch pitch.
He arrived earlier than the other Gryffindors and found the Ravenclaw team still practicing. They looked pretty good; very concise and put together. The Chasers were handling the ball with skill and the Keeper blocked almost every attempt easily. The beaters were worked well off each other and were strong. Not as strong as Jenna though. Harry almost felt a sense of pride at the thought, but quickly dismissed it.
Then his eyes jolted to the familiar seeker that flew above him: Cho. She was flying in perfect circles, with perfect agility. Her dives were perfectly accurate, and as she sped towards the hoop she caught the Snitch with perfect skill. Harry watched as her perfect hair glided down her perfectly smooth robes when she made a perfect landing. He enjoyed the sight as her perfect teeth were reveled when she smiled at the way her team was congratulating her on her perfect catch. He felt her perfect eyes glance over him and he loved the perfect way she made him feel.
The Ravenclaws then began to gather their stuff together and walk off the field. Some of them shot Harry angry looks, probably because they thought he was spying on them. But when Cho passed she stopped in front of him. Harry froze.
"Hey Harry. How are you?" Cho asked politely. Harry stood entranced for a moment by her chocolate eyes. She stared at him expectantly and he snapped out of it.
"Oh! I'm ...erm...okay...I'm just waiting for....um.....my team to arrive. I wasn't...er...spying or anything," he spit out clumsily. She giggled lightly.
"I didn't think you were. My teammates might, but I don't. You wouldn't do that. You don't need to anyway," she cooed quietly. Harry immediately burned a bright shade of magenta only causing her to giggle some more. "Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I should go now. Looks like your team is arriving." I turned and saw Jenna practically thumping across the field. At the moment Harry felt like shooting a million different curses at her, but he held himself back. Cho then turned and began to walk away only looking back to wave at him.
Harry felt like he was floating and he wasn't even on his broom. He thought he might literally sail off all the way to the moon, but someone quickly pulled him back down.
"Aww does King Harry have a little crush? So cute the way your ears turn pink at the sight. Now I know all I have to do to weaken you next time is just wave a picture of Cho in front of your face. God, you're pathetic!" Jenna grumbled as she walked by. Harry turned and fiercely reached for his wand. Her back was turned and he could easily jinx her, but again he stopped himself. He wouldn't sink to her level.
All through practice, Jenna was particularly aggressive, hitting Bludgers with such force that it took up to 40 seconds for it to return. She was especially using Harry for target practice. She nearly took his head off, but luckily Fred came to his rescue.
Harry watched as Jenna landed her Firebolt while he landed his own. Curiously enough she didn't even stay to help put the stuff away like she usually did. Instead she ran off with what look like excitement in her eyes.
Harry only shrugged and began to assist his team.
On the way back into school Harry remember that he had left his Transfiguration book in McGonagall's classroom. Cursing himself foe his forgetfulness he started in a brisk jog towards the room. The halls were sparsely littered with students. But basically empty. Most were either in their respective towers or at the library.
Harry slowed down his pace as he began to approach McGonagall's room. He heard slight rustling from the inside and figured the Professor was still in there grading papers. The door was left ajar. He stepped up to the crack and looked in. His eyes widened at the sight.
Before him he saw a certain silver haired Slytherin pressed up against the wall. Making out with someone. His face was contorted with pleasure, which was a change from his usual smirk. Harry stepped back completely disgusted. Who the bloody hell would kiss that git? Harry shuddered and returned his gaze to the couple hoping to catch a glimpse of the person Malfoy was with. Now I know I'm going to be sick , Harry thought when he realized who it was. Jenna stood with herself pressed up against Malfoy practically devouring him. So that's what she was so excited about. Still Harry found himself completely confused. He though Jenna hate Malfoy. He thought she wanted Malfoy dead and yet here she was practically jumping the kid. Harry had no time to analyze it further because he felt eyes on him that moment. He looked and found the stone gray eyes of both Jenna and Malfoy piercing into him. Jenna mumbled one sarcastic word: "Perfect."
He came in and he caught me red handed
Creeping with guy next door
Picture this: we were up against the wall
Making out, tongue and all
How could I be so clumsy?
The whole time he was standing there
He never took his eyes off me
He caught me in the corner
"It wasn't me"
Kissing like a we were lovers
"Wasn't me"
Up in the tower
"Wasn't me"
Saw the marks on my shoulder
"Wasn't me"
Hears us getting louder
"Wasn't me"
He stayed till it was over
Author notes: I'm so sorry that it took so long to get this written! Finals are coming up and my teachers have been piling on the last minute work! Hopefully chap. 10 will be up quicker. The song in this chapter is "Wasn't Me" by Shaggy. I changed some things around but its basically the same. Thanks to everyone who read and those who posted, it meant a lot to me to hear your input!
Well this chapter reintroduces Cho. She's part of the original story and if I'm to continue it like normal she should be part of my story too. You see Hagrid and Croft together some more and more flirtation b/w Hermione and Ron. Hope you liked this. And the fact that Harry now knows about Jenna and Draco? Well that will cause some trouble in the future. Trouble is fun! lol
Next chapter will have the Quidditch match and trust me it will be fast paced and amazing (unless I write it sucky lol). More conflicts and stuff. Have it up soon. See ya later!
