Chapter 3: Revealing Thoughts

Harry was wrong though. Well, partly. Jenna definitely hated Harry's guts. She proved that when knocked him ass-backward when climbing off the table after finishing her performance. And she laughed when she did it too. As a matter of fact, the whole school thought it was pretty funny. Harry's face warmed in anger at the memory.

Draco had approached her shortly after this little incident smiling wildly with pleasure. Harry, who was standing near by rubbing his head (he smacked it on the floor when he fell), overheard most of the conversation.

"That was pretty impressive in there," Draco stated slightly admirably. Jenna looked him over skeptically. He was looking confident, as always, and standing close by. Too close for her comfort. She backed away a little before answering.

"Yeah? What's it to you?"

" Oh not much. I just thought you'd like to team up with me and my crowd. We hold the power in this school and you'd make an awesome addition," he explained smugly. She rolled her eyes obviously not convinced. She got even more annoyed when she noticed that Draco was checking her out.

"Geez, not another one! That doofy looking kid with the glasses just tried to pull the same thing on me!"

"Oh Potter? Yeah, he thinks he's a god at this school, but he's nothing but a joke like most of the people here. You'll flourish with us. I think the rest of the Slytherins will agree to let you in our group even though you are a Gryffindor. Especially after that fine showcase." He was still smirking, but Jenna made sure to change that.

"You are worse than the other one! What an arrogant asshole! Just as I told that other kid, I don't need any assistance from anyone. Especially not a greasy little weasel like you!" With that she sauntered off, the anger still burning on Draco's face. Harry watched thoroughly amused. He always took pleasure in watching Malfoy get what he deserved. Well, at least she has one redeeming quality, Harry thought. If she hates Malfoy, she can't be all bad.

Harry hoped this thought was right. He couldn't stand to have someone as nasty as Malfoy in his own house; It was the one place that he didn't have to worry about. He kept telling himself it was probably only first day nerves. Plus she had just been plucked out of her home and taken to a foreign country only a few hours ago. Harry decided to give it a couple days before making a judgment on the American girl.

After her first week there, he gave up any prospect of things changing. She had only gotten worse as the days went by. First, after getting detention for her stunt in the Great Hall, she hurled poor Neville's Transfiguration book out the window when he ran into her in the hall. Then when Snape reprimanded her for a botched potion(he was overlooking as she did homework), she dumped her cauldron over Ron's head, who was s just passing through the dungeon to get his book (he left if there during class). He sprouted leaves and Snape reluctantly made a reversing potion.

Jenna even felt the need to embarrass poor Hermione(who did nothing to her at all) by throwing all her homework up into a torch that lit the halls, ruining all of it. Hermione had fled the scene in tears, muttering that she'd never make head girl now. And Jenna just laughed maniacally.

Even Fred and George began to grow tired of her antics. "She's racking up more detentions than us and its only her first week!" they had exclaimed. It was true too. She hadn't been in the common room for a single night that week. It was strange how quickly she had become the most hated person in Gryffindor tower, and one of the Slytherins favorites. For some reason Malfoy still seemed intent on gaining her friendship, even though she fended him off with a nasty remark each time. But that was Malfoy for you. Drawn to any sort of power especially the Dark kind.

People were learning to stay out of her way by the second week. Stories of her torments had zipped through all four houses and now people were jumping out of her way in the hall. And she seemed to enjoy it immensely. Harry just hoped she'd do something bad enough soon so she would be expelled. It didn't seem likely though. For some reason, most teachers seemed to take it easy on her. Probably feel bad about her being new. But enough was enough. She was evil. Harry was sure of it.

* * *

He's evil, Jenna thought, he's got to be. Who could be that cocky and not be evil? Harry Potter was standing in the center of the Gryffindor common room telling some sort of story to his gaggle of friends and admirers. Jenna was sitting in the corner by herself, the way she liked it, slouching casually in the chair. She thought about doing her homework, God knows she had a lot of it, but then decided her time would be better spent observing the actions of the sheep around her.

She shook her head disapprovingly at the site before her. She kept her stony eyes staring at him for several moments. Ugh, I think I'm gonna be sick! What do people see in him? It hadn't taken her long to notice that Harry Potter seemed to be the school hero, that everyone found him absolutely darling.

Well, all except the Slytherins. They saved that position for Draco Malfoy. Don't even get me started on him.

Jenna returned her gaze to her work, finding it much less appalling than Harry. She was so bogged down she had to do five years of work in one year. There were 10 months in the school year so that meant she had two months to finish each year. That also meant she'd have class over Christmas and Easter break, with the exceptions of the actual holidays. They gave her this thing so she could do more than one class at a time. What had the old dude called it? A Time-Turner? Yeah , that was it. Apparently, not many people got the "privilege" to use it. Lucky me, she thought sarcastically. She heard from one of the teachers say that only one other student was given permission to use it recently. I was that up tight, know-it-all, Hermione, who used it in her third year. She had taken extra classes by choice. What a loser!

Jenna still didn't see how she was going to accomplish all this crap. It was crazy. In her opinion, they should have just let her stay in America and be a normal person, but no, they had to drag her here. She didn't ask for it. And she didn't want it. All she wanted was to go home to her friends and family. She missed them terribly. Her three best friends meant so much to her. Jen with her nonstop jokes. Rude or comical, they always got laughs. And Amber with her flirtatious side. Jenna got a kick out of that. It was even better when she had a blonde moment(definition: acting ditzy or stupid, not understanding simple phrases or jokes) and Amber had those often. And Jenna missed Dina too. She was so adorably innocent and goody goody. She was always telling them not to curse at school, and then would turn around and call her brother a bastard when she was at home. Just the thought made Jenna chuckle.

It really hurt to be away from her mom. She was the only parent Jenna ever had. She had raised her all by herself and sacrificed so much for her. Jenna's dad wasn't good with responsibility. Soon after their divorce when Jenna was three, he took off for Missouri. She only saw him during the summer after that. And the past three years she hadn't seen him at all.

Jenna quickly pushed those thoughts away. It was not a subject she liked to think about much. Soon her brother popped into her mind. Ahh Gary, how things have changed, she thought quite amused. A month ago she would have been ecstatic at the idea of being rid of her pain in the butt older sibling. The way they argued over the remote or who got the last piece of pizza had always pissed her off. But now she would gladly be home exchanging playful insults with him rather than here where she had nothing.

She felt the emotion begin to build in her, but quickly rid herself of it. She didn't dare let any one know how she really felt. She must have softened her statement a little because Harry was now staring over at her oddly. She just sneered at him in response and turned around.

It's not so bad here. I've got plenty of people to torture. At that moment a small second year boy, waddled by. He peeked at her for only a moment. Upon seeing her grimace, he jumped slightly and took off for the boys' tower. Jenna chortled at his reaction. She did take pleasure in the fear everyone seemed to have when it came to her. It always came in handy when she wanted something.

But still, even as she reveled in her power, she thought of what her friends were doing back home and wondered if they missed her at all, as a song drifted through her mind....

Life goes on as it never ends
Eyes of stone observe the trends
They never say forever gaze
Guilty roads to endless love
There's no control
Are you with me now?
Your every wish will be done
They tell me...

Show me the meaning of being lonely
Is this the feeling I need to walk with
Tell me why I can't be there where you are
There's something missing in my heart.

* * *

Well another day, another boring class to go to, same old boring people to see, Draco thought dryly. He was thoroughly unenthused about his plans for the day. He was on his way to the Great Hall for some of the same old breakfast foods before going to the same old History of Magic class, then lunch, and Potions. Well, there was something to look forward to. Potions always made him at least smile. Snape loved him and hated Harry. What more could he want in a teacher?

Draco entered to the bustling crowd of the Great Hall. Most of the students had already arrived. Draco had taken longer than the others. He had to fix his slicked back hair. One piece kept popping up. He had to look good for all his female admirers. He had plenty of those.

But not the one that he wanted. He was still trying to persuade that Jenna chick to join up with him, but to no avail. She was a feisty one. Full of fire and passion. Of course it was a fiery passionate hate towards him, but he would change that eventually. For right now the chase was exciting. Every incident filled him with adrenaline. Well, at least until she slams him with a brutal insult. Then he got pissed off. Only one other person had ever made him so angry and that was Harry. It was a different kind of anger. He hated Harry. He was just frustrated with Jenna.

She had lots of power too and not just at running her mouth. She had strength like Draco had never seen before and it captivated him. The way she had floated those plates full of food and smashed them against the wall; it totally excited Draco(in more ways than one). And the look on her face when she did it. Draco saw something in her eyes that night that told him she would be something big, bigger than any other female student, bigger than Draco, bigger than his father, and maybe even bigger than the almighty Harry Potter. Draco hoped that Jenna was here to level the playing field. The side of good had Harry and Draco hoped the side or darkness now had Jenna. Normally he'd be against a female leader(in his mind most were too inept to rule anything), but she had it in her. More than any guy that he had seen.

Draco soon realized he was still standing in the entry way of the hall. Not wanting to look like a fool, he casually strolled into the room acting like he owned the place. Many turned at the sight of him. Draco loved when they did that; it made him feel powerful. Even Harry turned around for a moment, but whipped forward the second he noticed it was Malfoy. Draco was about to laugh at Potter's stupidity until he saw Jenna. She hadn't even glanced up. Draco scowled. What do I have to do to break this girl?

He had tried everything; He showed off, dressed up, played nice, sucked up, complimented, and even tried not to retort when she insulted him, but still nothing. What's worse he'd seen her on the Quidditch field getting flying lessons from Madame Hooch and took it as an opportunity to make her drool. It was a hot, September day and he used the tactic of peeling off the top portion of his robes revealing his toned upper body(he had gone through some of puberty since last year), but he saw her scoff and return to her lesson. Unbelievable.

He had sat down and realized he was staring at the back of her head. He guessed she sensed it because she turned her head in his direction. Finally! But Draco was met with a gaze so icy that he no longer wanted her attention. He looked down at his breakfast and thought of something to do to win her trust. So he decided just to be direct and stop trying to play games. He rose from the table and headed over to Jenna's seat.

"Look we need to talk," he said earnestly.

"About what? How nice your hair looks? Or your supreme Seeker skills? Oh wait no, what about how much money your dad has? Yeah right." She shook her head and stood up. Draco followed.

"Come on, give me second! It's important!"

"Get away from me you little platinum haired troll!" She had proceeded to leave the Hall and was now heading for the door. She slammed it open and walked outside into the fresh morning air. Draco stayed on her heels. He grabbed her by the shoulder and twisted her around. Her face squished up in anger as she roughly shook him off. But this time she didn't walk away. Great, here's my chance.

"Ok here's the deal. You've got power and a lot of it"

"Amazing that you noticed someone besides yourself."

"Be quiet for a second alright." She glared at him hard but nodded for him to continue. "I've been saying this since you got here, but you won't listen. I want you on my side. We could do some real damage together I think. Now, I could help you catch up on all your work quicker in return because I know you and I know you won't do this unless you get something out of it."

" Don't flatter yourself. You don't know me. Far from it."

"Ok, but I'm trying to sweeten the deal for you."

"No, you're just laying out bait and hoping I fall for it, but I'm not stupid."

"I didn't think you were," Draco said. He had to try something new, being blunt wasn't working. So he turned on the charm, laying it on thick. "Plus that was rubbish what I just offered you. There's so many more benefits to being friends with me. Ones that not many get to take pleasure in." He was looking at her passionately. She leaned in.

"Oh yeah?" she whispered. I've got her, Draco thought.

"Yeah, ones that I'll share with you. And only you, if that's how you want it. I'll do whatever you want." His voice was now low and sensual. He stared at her lucious lips which were now only inches from his face. "Do you want it?" A coy smile curled on her lips.

"I want..." She was speaking in a hushed breathy tone that Draco enjoyed very much. " for you to....to....LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!" Draco stumbled back a bit and clutched his head. She had been so close to his face when she screamed those words that his ears were ringing loudly. She was chuckling lightly at his reaction. Once he regained his composure, he narrowed his cold gray eyes at the girl before him. She gave him an evil half grin and whipped out her wand.

"Musicandium!" A song played out of nowhere as she sang the words softly to Draco. "So... He Got Big Gray Eyes, So He Look Nice/Ooh... Coming On Strong, Six Pack Showin," she taunted, referring to the incident on the field.

"Ohh... He's Too Cool, For His Own Shoes / mmm... Nothing Rude, But Way Too Short For Me," Draco looked himself up and down. He didn't think he was too short. He was the same height as her. "He Tryin' To Be Extra Smooth, Extra Smooth/ Ohh... Extra Cool, Extra Cute /Ahh... If I'm Supposed To Talk To You Be Your Boo /Be Your Boo, Be Your Boo Don't Come Trying To Be Extra Smooth." People around them began to notice and watch with mocking faces.

" So... He Got Line For Line Wasting My Time/ Ooh... Running Round Tryin' To Catch My Eye/ Eye... Disturbing My Groove, Tryin' To Be Smooth/ Ohh... Get The Boot Boy You Can Go Ahead And Work On Yourself Another Quick Romance /A Little Too Hot For Me/ You Act Like You've Already Got The Number." By now she was staring to walk away. "Won't You Quit Tryin' To Be?/ Extra Smooth, Extra Smooth / Hey... Extra Cool, Extra Cute / Cute... If I'm Supposed To Talk To You Be Your Boo/ Be Your Boo, Ohh... So Don't Come Trying To Be... / Tryin' To Be Extra, Extra, Extra Smooth ." The last words were fading away as she reentered the school. Draco was left open mouthed and humiliated. Geez, I want her....

Author notes: First lyrics were the Backstreet Boys "Show Me the Meaning" from their album Millennium. The second song was an excerpt from Aaliyah's, "Extra Smooth" from the cd Aaliyah. One line was changed, from brown eyes to gray eyes (obviously to fit the story).
