Dear Diary,

I know I've never kept a diary before, but Mum gave this to me for my birthday, since I like books as much as she. I might as well start from the beginning; I've always wanted to write an autobiography...

My name is Victoire Dawn Malfoy. My friends call me Tory. Yes, I know. A Malfoy. I've heard that all 14 years of my life. My parents aren't the usual Malfoy pairing; my mother is a good woman, on the light side, AND a (dare I say it) a Muggle-born. I know. Shocker for me, too. Just imagine heading onto the Hogwarts Express for the first time. Your mother is waving tearfully after you, and your father is holding her around the waist, grinning at you. Regular nuts I tell you. Anyway, you're looking around for the few familiar faces you know, and suddenly, five kids, all older than you, come up to you saying, "You look just like a Malfoy!" When I responded, I must say that the Malfoy in me was talking. Poor Mum; her side only comes out in my good moments. "Maybe that's because...I AM a Malfoy! Now get out of my way!" And when they just stood there, I yelled, "Now!" Isn't that the best first impression? My mum always tells me, when I complain about being judged as a Malfoy, that "If you want to be treated normally, DO NOT prove them right by acting the stereotypical Malfoy!" Yes, Mum, I know.

Anyway, sometimes my mum and dad get a bout of nostalgia and tell me the story of their love. To sum it all up, it was literally a love hate relationship. My mum saw the good in my dad and brought it out. Let's just say Uncles Ron and Harry didn't see this good right off the bat. Even now, every once in a while when either one of my uncles get mad at my dad, they call him ferret boy. I love that story by the way.

This is what I look like: straight hair, to my shoulder, a shade of blonde darker than my father's, brown eyes, curvy (he he), thin, and tall. Personality wise, I'm a major conflict. Mum says that's because she and my father are such opposites. I am very cunning and am a great actress when it suits me to be. Also, I can be sharp-tongued when provoked. I sound like a "Don't touch the animals, they will bite" sign don't I? My father says that I am very much like he was when he was my age, only with my mum's traits to soften the blow. I am very smart; the Sorting Hat was horribly confused about whether to place me in Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Gryffindor. It put me in Gryffindor; much to everyone's shock, because of my charming personality that so resembles my Slytherin father.

But do NOT get the idea that I am a horrid person! I am very kind, responsible, and loyal (hello, GRYFFINDOR here). I am just as much my mum, on the inside, as my dad. Bookishness is the first and foremost quality that I acquired from Mum. Don't get me wrong; Dad's smart, just not in the we-could-spend-all-day-in-the-library-with-no-food-and-never-realize-we-hadn't-eaten way that my mum and I are.

That's going to have to be all for today because my mum's yelling at me. We're going to Diagon Alley to buy my school supplies and meet up with a bunch of friends in 15 minutes. She's starting to spaz now; we're going to have to go by Floo, which was my ultimate goal in delaying our departure!

Until later,

Victoire D. Malfoy
