Chapter 1: Explanations

"You're back!" Ginny squealed as she jumped into Ron's arms.

"What about me, Gin?" Hermione asked.

"I thought you were dead...your diary...it...well, it sounded like you were about to commit suicide," Ginny said as if she were the most pathetic thing in the world.

"I did realize that, but I was in such a hurry to leave, I just loaded my gun, and started to walk until I found these two."

"One question, Ron," Ginny turned towards her brother, "Why did you laugh when I called you Ron?"

"I guess I laughed because it was so funny to see you guess me so easily. And I didn't tell you who we were because it just seemed like it would be better for it to be a surprise."

"Well, come in, come in!" Colin yelled, shaking Harry's hand, "We'll make you dinner," He tipped his head towards Hermione, "Wonderful to see you again Miss---Hermione!"

(A/N: For whoever thought Colin was too polite in the Prologue: I've always thought of Colin as a very gentlemanly, kind person, so naturally, that's how I'd write him!)

"You too, Colin!" Hermione exclaimed. She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him on the cheek in a friendly manner.

"So...tell us what in the world was going on. We were all so confused," Ginny said quietly as she banged around in the kitchen for a pan.

"Well," Harry started, "First of all, me and Ron are fully trained aurors, and were on a long term mission. We were sworn to secrecy, so we couldn't tell anyone. We tried to get it across to Hermione, but it didn't exactly work. So we were way off, halfway into Azkaban when Hermione found us. Little did we know she was an undercover gun shooter. So when she found us---,"

Colin cut Harry off, "Wait, wait, wait! What's a gun shooter?"

"A gun shooter is somewhat like an auror...only does more field work...the aurors plan our missions, and we carry them out...but Harry and Ron are on-field aurors," Hermione supplied the answer to Colin's query.

"Okay, Harry, continue," Colin said with a bit more understanding

"So when Hermione found us, we tried to tell her to go back, and then she told us about her being a gun shooter. She helped us with our mission. We managed to get Voldemort's whereabouts from a few Azkaban prisoners. We found Voldemort...but we couldn't kill him. It didn't work. It's as if he's not human..." Hermione and Ron cut Harry off with a shrill, 'SHUT UP!'

"Oops...sorry, I'm not supposed to tell," Harry blushed.

"That's alright, Harry," Colin said in his gentlemanly manner.

"DINNER!" Ginny cheerfully carried a dish of Shepherds Pie to the table and set it down in front of Colin.

"Looks delicious, Gin!" Hermione exclaimed.

"Guess we'll have to find a new house, Colin. So much for here," Ginny said dryly to her husband.

"I guess so. Hermione, could we pay you rent for a few months while we look for a house."

"Yeah, sure," Hermione was flattered that she was being asked to live in her humble abode. She thought that Colin and Ginny would have claimed it as theirs already. Maybe, just maybe, Ginny Weasley was finally growing up.
