Dear Diary: Prologue

January 6, 1998

Dear Diary:

They've been gone for six days now...when will they come back? Do they hate me? How could they just up and leave? I'm so confused! ~Hermione

January 17, 1998

Dear Diary:

I suppose I only write in you for comfort...because I know you can't bring Harry and Ron back. But they just told me they'd see me later...much later...did they mean that they hated me? I guess not, because they each gave me their house keys with a note. But I want them...I need them for comfort. They're my only friends. My mum and dad are dead...stupid old goats...being Chaperones at a muggle party? Insanity, I say. I want Ron and Harry! ~Hermione

February 21, 1998

Dear Diary:

Is it real? Are they really gone forever? This is it...my life is over. I'm pulling out my gun now. I'm loading it...good-bye. ~Hermione

Ginny scanned the last scribbled words and began to cry. Hermione killed herself? How could she? She put the diary down and closed it. Harry and Ron had been away for three years now. It was 2001, and Ginny was back from her honeymoon. Her wedding had been a bittersweet one. It was happy because she married Colin...sad because she was missing her brother, her brother's best friend, and her best friend. Colin wandered into the room, saw Ginny with her face in her hands, and rushed to her side. He knelt down beside her chair and put his arms around her, "Ginny, what's wrong?"

"Colin...Hermione's dead..." She swallowed hard. They heard a bang of the door downstairs, and Colin rushed to see who it was. He saw two men whose faces were obscured by beards, and a small female follow them inside. Colin moved towards them.

"Hello, I'm Colin Creevey. If you're looking for Hermione Granger, she's passed away." He held out his hand for a handshake.

The taller man laughed a hoarse laugh...as if he hadn't laughed in a while. "We aren't looking for Hermione Granger. We're looking for a Miss Ginny Weasley."

"Ginny? You're looking for Ginny? She's upstairs. Sweetie, there's some men here to talk to you." Colin turned back to the men. "She's no longer Ginny Weasley, but Ginny Creevey. Ginny and I wedded a few weeks ago." The shorter man took a step back, possibly in shock. The female still hadn't stepped out of the shadows. A thought crossed Colin's mind...could these be Aurors? Do they think that Ginny killed Hermione?

"Hello good sirs. What can I do for you?" Ginny asked politely.

"Sit down at the table and explain why the bloody hell you married Colin," the tall man said. Ginny stared at him for a while. He had red hair poking out from under his grubby hat...and his beard was red.

"Ron?" she tried. The female and shorter man hooted with laughter. Ginny blushed. "I-I am sorry. I thought you were my brother. It was a stupid thought. I'm sorry."

"No...don't think anything of it. You don't happen to have a razor on you, do you Mr. Creevey? My friend and I are used to being clean shaven," the taller one said.

"Oh absolutely. Up the stairs, and to your right is the bathroom. Open the mirror, and you'll find some un-used razors and shaving cream. Go ahead," Colin answered. The female hadn't moved until now. It was hard to tell she was a girl. She was dressed in all black. The shirt was fitted to her body, but not tight. Her pants were baggy, so she could probably carry a gun in them. Her hair was taken up into a black hat, and she almost looked like a boy. Her face was very dirty, and one could tell she was tired, "You can use the shower if you want. You look uncomfortable. Tell your friends they are welcome to as well," Colin said to her.

"Thank-you." The woman breathed. She went upstairs as well; Colin and Ginny heard her attempting to kick the men out of the bathroom.

"Who are they, Colin?" Ginny held onto her husband's arm.

"I think they're Aurors," Colin murmured back. They heard a creek...someone was on the last step. And then they heard another, and another. All three were coming back down. The two men were shaven, and clean. The woman had on fresh clothes that Ginny had set out for her. Jeans and a red t-shirt looked a whole lot more becoming than black. And the men were wearing even baggier clothes than before, as Colin larger than they. The woman had her hair down and brushed, and they saw it was a lovely shade of auburn that was slightly wavy, so it was accented in the light nicely. But there was something about them that Ginny nearly fainted at.

"Hermione?! Ron?! Harry?!" She squealed. Her best friends were back.

Author notes: Umm....read and review. Flames are welcome, just as welcome as others...um...a little encouragement would be nice... It will get slightly mushier...like...more romantic so it ACTUALLY belongs in Astronomy Tower.
