Chapter 2: Narcissa's Decision

"Draco! Draco, come in here, please," Narcissa called to her son.

"Yes, Mother?" he replied calmly, walking through the door to her study.

"Draco sit down."

"Yes, Mother." He sat on one of the soft, squishy, ornamental poufs his mother kept in the large circular room.

"Now, Draco, your father and I have been thinking about this for quite some time now," she said, gesturing to her husband.

"About what?"

"Moving out," Lucius said.

"But-"

"But what Draco, I think you need to get out of here, to live on your own, it's quite unhealthy for a man your age to still live with his-"

"But Mother-" Draco interrupted again.

"Don't interrupt me, Draco," Narcissa said quietly. There slight cold firmness in her tone, Draco dared not to talk back again. "You are going to move out of here, whether you like it or not."

"Mother, where will I go? I have no money of my own."

"You will use the small amount your father saved." Lucius Malfoy had a small savings of his own, which he started keeping after Dumbledore secretly got him out of Azkaban, in case he had to run, he couldn't keep too much. And Dumbledore couldn't take him, Voldemort would suspect something.

"That's barely anything!" Draco shot back. "The only home I can buy with that is in...oh no, no you're not serious, Mother." Narcissa nodded as Draco's face lit up with understanding. "With the Muggles?"

"Where else can you go in the Magic World? Our family doesn't have the same reputation as when your father was still pretending to support Voldemort." It was true, all they knew were Slytherin families, most of which still supported the Dark Side. Only four other families, beside the Malfoys didn't support the Dark side. They weren't the most respected family. "Please Draco, I've already found a nice apartment for you, it's near Diagon Alley." There was a certain pleading in her face. Draco looked down.

"Alright, Mother, I'll go." His mother's face lit up immediately.

"Good, because, I've already packed for you!" Draco looked up. "By the way, Greg and Vinny are moving in with you!"

"Greg and Vinny? Greg and Vinny?!" Draco yelled. "But they're-they're GAY!" Narcissa looked at him.

"And just what do you have against gay people, son?" she asked, cornering him. "After all, they are your friends."

"No, it's not that-" Narcissa loved playing this game with her son, putting him in a tricky little corner and throwing accusations as he squirmed to get out.

"Do you not like them anymore?"

"No, Mum-"

"Are you sexist?" Lucius asked, playing along.

"No! It's just-"

"Good. Because they're moving in with you," she finished triumphantly.

"Hermione!" Ginny yelled into the apartment. A dark head poked out of the hallway.

"Yes, Ginny?" she replied.

"Harry came on to me," she said, as if she were telling on him. Hermione scoffed.

"Again?"

"Yeah," Ginny said, and slumped into the sofa.

"Oh, he must have been drunk again," Hermione said soothingly.

Ginny looked like she was offended. "Oh, so a guy has to be drunk to hit on me, now does he?"

"Ginny, you know that's not what I meant, you know he hasn't been the same since Melinda, Alice and Sandy died," said Hermione, listing all of Harry's old girlfriends. "Besides, he's always like you, why don't you give it a go with him?"

"Because," Ginny whined. "All his girlfriends die!" Hermione nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, and aren't you with Colin?" Hermione asked.

"Um, I think so yeah, I am," Ginny said, trying to remember.

"That right! You are, remember, he gave you that ring!" They both looked at the sterling silver ring on Ginny's hand.

"Oh yeah..." they said in unison.

"Oh, Ginny, we're having new neighbors," Hermione mentioned.

"Oh really, who?"

"Um, I don't know yet. They're arriving today." The Wilkeses, who used to live next door, had all died after Harry made friends with them. It was a wonder Hermione and Ginny were still alive.

A couple hours later, an old carriage pulled up. Hermione and Ginny, seeing whom it was from out the window, rushed downstairs to greet them.

"Mr. Malfoy! Mrs. Malfoy!" The two parents' faces lit up as the girls ran toward them.

"Ginevra! Hermione!" Narcissa said fondly, hugging them both. "We haven't seen you in so long!"

"Mr. Malfoy," Hermione cried. "Pleasure to see you again!"

"Pleasure to see you too, Hermione," he said warmly. "And please, call me Lucius." Hermione was always his favorite of Draco's friend from the War. What, with her need for excessive knowledge and everything.

Two more figures emerged from the carriage.

"Ginny, Hermione?" said a mock-appalled voice. "Aren't you forgetting someone?"

"Greg? Vinny? You're moving in?" Hermione asked in disbelief. Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle nodded. Their families had been spies too because they had always copied the Malfoys. Hermione squealed with glee. The four gathered in a group-hug. Draco eyed the scene from the carriage with disgust. He wasn't the touchy-feely type himself.

"Us," said Greg. "And Draco." He pointed to the carriage. Draco lazily stood up and sauntered out.

"Granger," he regarded, nodding at her. He looked at Ginny, his eyes lingering a second longer. "Weasel." She's grown, he thought, looking at her appreciatively.

"Ferret," they regarded together.

"Well," said Narcissa breaking up the glaring competition. "Better get moving!"

Author Notes: Yes, everything is way AU and OOC right now, especially the family being spies and all...I know, but I can't help it! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE REVIEW!!!
