Chapter Three

I'd like him to be here

"Hey!" Harry greeted Draco's son who was alone behind the tree facing the lake that he and Draco used to call their own.

"Prof. Potter!" Jamison exclaimed.

"Why are you here? Everyone's playing there at the other side," Harry inquired.

"See, I am already playing with my toys," the boy explained.

"You know this was my favorite place also when I was still a student. It was your father's place too," Harry said with a smile.

"Really?" Jamison asked excitedly while bringing up to air his toys making them fly. "He didn't tell me."

"That's because you've just arrived; once you and your father have a vacant time I know he will give you a tour of Hogwarts. He knows so many hidden rooms and passages," Harry said correcting his slip by another slip of the tongue.

"Are you two friends?" Jamison asked not looking at Harry but instead at his playthings.

"Well, you can say that. And besides we were in the same school for seven years; how we could not know about each other, right?" Harry said carefully choosing his words.

"But he doesn't know anything, I used to ask him about you but he said why not ask you directly," the boy said gloomily.

"Oh..." was Harry's only comment, feeling hurt and mirroring the gloomy face of the boy.

"I can ask you, can't I?" Jamison asked his face expecting a positive answer.

"Of course!" Harry said smiling widely. "But can I ask you first?"

"Okay." This time Jamison is playing with his fingers.

"How is your mom?"

"Mommy." Jamison smiled.

"Yes, is she good to you?"

"Mommy is good; she's very nice to me."

"I am happy to hear that."

"My other mom died."

"Sorry, I didn't know." Harry kept that information in his mind to ask Draco later.

"Don't be. Dad said that we should not be. Because she was a very good person, because she saved lives and she is in heaven right now and is very happy." Jamison smiled.

"Hey the two of you, looks like you are in a deep discussion." Draco walked towards them, much to Harry's slight dismay because he still wanted to talk to the boy.

"Daddy!" The boy stood up and went to his dad hugging him and Draco tried to hide his smile because of his son's actions.

"Why don't you go along now? Go play with your classmates," Draco said and the boy smiled at him, waved at Harry and went on his way.

"So, what seems to be a very interesting topic that the two of you were talking about?" Draco asked without showing signs that he will sit down.

"Nothing much," Harry said while gazing at the lake not wanting to stand up just yet.

"Nothing?" Draco asked.

"I just asked him why he is here, and I told him that when we were still in school this used to be our favorite place - don't worry I did not tell him about us, together."

"No harm done on that."

"He is such a sweet child. He looks too young and acts so young for his age."

"He is young, Harry."

"Draco why don't you answer questions that your son asks about me?" Harry asked pain evident in his voice.

"I believe you are part of Hogwart's History now, he will know about you in class," Draco said looking away.

"You could have just answered him, you know me," Harry said now throwing the grasses that he pulled everywhere.

"Harry, please I do not forbid you to talk to my son. Just don't make yourself too close to him. I don't want him to attach himself to you; I don't want him to depend on you. I just want to protect my son from a time when he might need you, and you will not be there and leave him," Draco said. He turned around to leave but Harry held on to him.

"When will you ever believe that I left you because I ran for help? Draco... call me a weakling, call me pathetic, but even after all this years I cannot leave you. I still love you, I tried to move on with these matters of the heart but something pulls me back. I will never leave you or your son, not willingly. I still love you," Harry whispered now standing behind Draco. "Do you think... that...we... we...could..."

"Don't ask that question Harry. I do not know what I could possibly tell you right now." Draco disentangled himself from Harry's hold just in time when a student approached them.

"Professors, the Headmistress wants you in her office." They nodded to the student and Draco left Harry and walked fast towards the castle.

Though Draco left ahead of Harry, when he arrived at the office the blonde was still not there. Hermione greeted him first.

"Harry! There is another note."

"What's happening? I thought the first note was already sent to Ron? What did he say?" Harry berated questions at Hermione.

"They are still tracing the evidence found in the parchment," Hermione said.

"Evidence?" Harry questioned while sitting.

"There were very faint magical traces in the parchment, magic traces that can be used to re-arrange the words in the note, once the sender wants to change it. But we are still hoping that this could lead to the sender," Hermione explained.

"Minerva, on the second note blood was used." Severus entered holding out the note for all to see.

"Where is Draco?" Harry couldn't help but ask in spite of Severus' arched brows and Hermione's questioning looks. "I'd like for him to be here before I read this."
