Chapter Two
Will You Ever Believe?
"Oh my...who could possibly this person be?" Hermione asked breaking the silence in the room.
"Is Voldemort still alive?" Harry asked facing the Headmistress.
"No, he is dead we are definitely sure of that. But it looks like someone wants revenge. It could possibly be a Death Eater or someone only using what happened to the Dark Lord," McGonagall stressed.
"It could also be just a prank. Since it is true that the eleventh year of the Dark Lord's defeat is near," Severus said trying his.
"But what if it is true, who could possibly want revenge?" Hermione had the feeling that this threat was real.
"Only one person, Voldemort's child. There has been this rumor going around the top ranks of Death Eaters, Severus can attest to that. The maniac had a child, whether he is a boy or girl we do not know, but I am sure if this is real he or she might be alive. The question is if he really wants revenge why only now? Don't get me wrong Harry, but eleven years has passed already," Draco said in a very calm manner as if he were only telling a story.
"Do you know what this person's age might be?" Harry asked.
"If age has relevance in this case, he is in his late twenties or early thirties." Draco, after saying this, stood up. "If you will excuse me, it is getting late and I still have to look after my son, since my classes are already finished."
When Draco had already left with Severus, Hermione walked closer to Harry and McGonagall.
"Are you sure we can trust him? I mean he left the wizarding world without a backward glance, now that he came back this happens," Hermione half whispered.
"Maybe it is just coincidence. I would feel if something changed in him," Harry assured his friend.
"Harry, it has been eleven years. It is impossible for a person not to change. We do not know what happened to him and what he did between those years," Hermione defended herself.
"Severus and I may not always have the same opinion, but I trust him as the late Headmaster did. I trust him, and he trusts Draco. Besides Draco was a spy for us in the war against the Dark Lord and because of that his mother was tortured and father was killed, a reason why he would want to leave England," McGonagall said looking at Hermione then to Harry.
"Hermione I know you trust me. I can feel even after all these years he didn't change. His loyalty lies with us," Harry said as he hugged his friend.
After several hours, they adjourned. Harry headed to his DADA classroom; he was using a different room than that of Severus. He was busy going over the lessons he would be teaching when he heard a soft click of the door, telling him somebody just came in.
"She is right you know, I may have had a hand in what happened," Draco said.
"Draco..." Harry whispered in shock.
"You know very well that I don't give a shit what people think of me. So there is no need to defend me."
"You... you do not deserve that. How is your son?" Harry tried to change the topic.
"I really don't, I may have changed but I do not deserve that, definitely. My son is in our room, he is doing what he loves doing, reading." Draco smiled at the thought of his son.
"Just like you... you love reading too." Harry smiled at the memory.
Silence just graced the two, when Harry spoke again.
"Your son is beautiful."
"I know, he is mine." Draco smirked.
"I missed you, you know," Harry half whispered, not looking at the blonde.
"I didn't," Draco replied in a cold tone.
"That day I never meant to leave you like that," Harry started venturing to that one moment that led Draco away.
"You really should not have left me. I was scared I was dying. I told myself, that if that is my last moment I would die happy, peacefully, because you had me in your arms. Because I was not alone," Draco answered while going back to the well-hidden memories of that night.
"I got scared too, with all the blood. I ran, yes I did. But I ran because you needed help. I ran to find help."
"It was you who I needed. You knew how to heal me, you could have helped me. But you left."
"I was afraid that I might just hurt you more; you needed someone who knew more on what to do to help you. But when I came back you were not there anymore," Harry said bringing his hands to cradle his face.
"Somebody came and she helped me," Draco said starting to leave.
"...she? The lady at the train station?" Harry asked looking towards Draco who was slowly retreating back, before coming to a stop.
"She isn't exactly who came to me that night. But yes, she's the one who helped me."
"You were with her all this time?"
"Yes."
"Draco..." Harry was about to ask if she was his son's mother when Draco talked, not waiting for him to finish his sentence.
"Harry, it was not easy for me to come here, please don't make it hard. Just don't ask anymore. And my son's name is Jamison Draco Malfoy." With that he left, with another soft click that was heard that meant he had closed the door.
Harry spent a moment staring at the door, and then he fell on his hands sobbing. Because all this time he knew why Draco left. Not because his mother was tortured, not because his father was killed; he had long accepted that fact way before it even happened, in fact a consequence to his turning against the Dark Mark. But the reason why Draco disappeared, though with pure intentions of helping him, he left him that night just when Draco needed him the most.
