Chapter Four
Life for a Life is My Cry
"I cannot come yet. But after the school year I will follow, right now my son has to go first," Draco said to the fires.
"Why stay at Hogwarts if it is in danger?" came the reply
"I know... Harry is too..."
"You still care for him, that's why you are staying." More a statement than a question.
"What? No. As a professor I have responsibilities both to the students and to the school for them to be safe."
"How about your son, he needs to be safe too."
"That is why I want you to port key here; you have to take my son. I will talk to Minerva and Severus about my son's abrupt departure, I know they will understand me."
"Expect me within half an hour, love. You take care okay?"
"I will. You too." After that he closed the fire and went directly to the Headmistress office.
When Draco left his room, he saw Severus approach him.
"Draco, we were looking for you."
"Sev, my son is leaving today."
"Why?"
"I don't want him to be in danger, especially now that there are threats to Harry," the blonde explained.
"Harry's threats don't have anything to do with the school's security," Severus said as they turn to the corner.
"Once Harry's life is in danger, it also means the whole school or maybe the whole Wizarding world in general is also in danger." After Draco said this, the pain stricken face of Harry met them and abruptly walked away from them.
"He heard you, you know there was another note. He doesn't want to open it until you arrive in the office," Severus said though he still despised the other green eyed boy, he doesn't deserve what Draco just said.
"Sev, it doesn't concern me anymore," Draco said exasperatedly.
"But it concerns Potter."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I am not likely to say this, but I'll say anyway. What happened to 'your life is my life' that once in your lives you vowed to each other?" Severus inquired.
"That was long ago."
"I know that you were hurt that night. But I hope you'll understand that he left you because you desperately needed help. He wanted to save you," Severus said in a low tone.
"Then why didn't he look for me?" Draco asked challengingly.
"Believe me he did, but he never found your place. There were reports but once he came looking he just couldn't find the place." Severus sighed.
"How couldn't he not find the place; we were at the heart of France, so near the Wizarding world there!" Draco exclaimed.
They were already at the front of the Headmistress door when they finished talking, and Harry was outside waiting, his arms crossed in front of his chest and looking down.
"We will wait for the two of you, don't take long," Severus reminded them and Harry just nodded.
"I am sorry. You really don't have to stay you know. If you decide to leave we will understand. We can manage," Harry started, leaning on the wall beside the door.
"Harry...that is not what I meant..." Draco started fishing for words to say.
"What do you mean then?"
"..." Draco just kept silent looking at the far end of the hallway as if words would appear from there.
"You do not know what to say, because you meant it," Harry said lowly.
"Look Harry, I just want to protect my son."
"I know every parent should. That is why I am wondering why they still send their children here at Hogwarts. After all, I am here so it is but sure that everyday this place is in danger," Harry said not directly quoting what Draco said.
"No, Harry, I am so sorry. I should not have said that; I was wrong, forgive me. Parents send their children here because they have faith in this school. They believe in us that we will not let their children down if ever danger arises," Draco said now looking at Harry.
"I miss you Draco. I miss you more now, because I know you are so near yet I could not reach you. I am hurt too with all that has happened. I am scared with all that is happening," Harry cried silently and Draco went close to him and hugged him, comforting him. Harry looked up to him trying to read the grey eyes that were looking down at him, and slowly ever so slowly he brought his lips to meet the other while he rested his hand at Draco's back. From the simple meeting of lips it became a passionate fight of giving love and taking strength.
"Draco?" The voice of a lady in velvet robes called out and startled them, with eyes questioning.
"Have you just arrived?" Draco asked while Harry went inside the office.
"No I have been here quite a while, but I went directly to your son."
"Has he finished packing his things?"
"Yes."
"Have you brought a port key with you?"
"Yes, but I have to go to Hogsmeade first to buy something, but if you want us to leave at once it is okay."
"No, it is fine with me."
"You take care, Draco."
"You take care as well. Tell my son I love him."
"I will." A simple peck on the cheek and a gentle hug then the lady retreated to Draco's room to collect his son, while Draco slipped in the office silently.
"Good, Draco is here," Hermione announced his coming.
"Severus told me your son would leave."
"Yes, I am so sorry if I haven't informed you at once. It is for his safety," Draco said while looking at Harry silently asking for apology, Harry just smiled.
"Severus, please the note," McGonagall gestured to the Professor who then handed the note to Harry.
You will not be given another wish
