Chapter 4

The next morning, Ginny woke up early. She clearly remembered the events of yesterday and almost screamed again, but stopped herself.

Today was Sunday, so she went downstairs to breakfast without any haste.

She smiled when she saw very few people; after all it was only eight o'clock. She liked the early hours of the morning; they were quiet and peaceful.

Ginny ate breakfast alone and noticed Draco Malfoy sitting at his table, alone. He seemed to be looking at her.

Ginny felt her cheeks redden and kept her eyes on her toast. Out of corner of her eye, she saw that he wasn't eating anything and was just watching her.

She blushed more and could feel the anger pulsating through her veins. She quickly finished her breakfast and left the Great Hall.

Draco saw her leaving and he got up as well, it was time for Phase 2.

Ginny went outside and sat down underneath a tree. She had brought a book with her and she looked forward to reading it.

Everyone teased Ginny when they saw her reading, and told her she was like Hermione, but Ginny disagreed. She didn't like reading school textbooks at all. She only read for pleasure.

She liked thrillers/horror, mysteries and suspense. She didn't like romance too much, that is when the whole novel was about the girl and guy and them snogging. But she did like sweet romances that had a story line as well as romance.

Right now she was reading a book called Artemis Fowl and it pulled her right in.

After a few minutes of peaceful reading, she felt the weird sensation that someone was watching her. Ginny looked around curiously and saw no one so she continued to read, but she felt uncomfortable.

She got up and circled the tree she was sitting under, but no one was there.

She continued reading and then she felt someone sitting next to her. She looked up and saw Draco Malfoy sitting next to her.

"Ahhhh!" she screamed.

"What's wrong?" he asked her.

Ginny tried to get up, but he was holding her hand- again.

"You!" she said. "What do you want from me?"

"I just want to talk to you," he said casually. "Is that so wrong?"

"Coming from you, yeah," she said, struggling.

He looked at her for a few seconds before he spoke again. "Why are you against me, Ginny? I know our families have had our differences, but that doesn't mean we can't be friends- or more."

Ginny stared at him in horror. "Yes, it does, because since I came here you've been torturing me."

He cocked his head to one side and said, "All right, fair enough. I apologise for that."

Ginny stared at him, dumb-founded. Draco Malfoy was apologizing- to her?!

"What's it to you?" she asked.

He looked at her with his cool grey eyes. They suddenly seemed to be warming up.

"I want to be friends with you, Ginny," he said softly.

Ginny continued to struggle, "I don't believe you."

"I can't make you believe me," he said. "But I want to get to know you better."

Ginny finally freed her hand from him. She got up and walked away. She looked behind her and saw him sitting there, staring at her. She was confused and looked down at her hand to realize he had let go of it willingly.

She looked at him, with a question in her eyes, but he just stared back at her from under the tree.

She turned back around and continued walking back to the castle.

Ginny was freaked out and didn't want to go anyplace alone, so went to the Great Hall and sat down with her friends.

Hermione noticed that Ginny wasn't eating, so she asked her, "Why aren't you eating, Ginny?"

Ginny said, "I already ate before."

Harry smiled, "Hermione you forgot, Ginny's an early bird."

Ginny smiled back at Harry and turned her attention back to her book. She could feel Draco's gaze on her but refused to look up.

She was confused and didn't know what to do.

After breakfast, Harry, Ron and Hermione left to go study for their N.E.W.Ts, leaving Ginny with her friends.

Padma wasn't there because she was studying for her N.E.W.Ts, so Ginny, Luna and Sam spent the morning walking near the lake throwing pebbles in it.

Luna and Sam noticed that Ginny was preoccupied.

"Hey, Gin, what's wrong?" asked Sam.

Ginny shook her head and said, "Just worried about exams. I think I should go in and study now."

She could feel his eyes on him once again and she wanted to get away from him. At least in her common room, his eyes wouldn't be able to follow her.

They nodded and the three of them went their separate ways to their common rooms.

Ginny was walking past the library when she felt the unfamiliar sensation of being dragged into the shadows.

She knew it was him so this time she didn't struggle.

"Listen Ginny," he said. "I'm sorry about everything I did before. I like you- a lot and I'm going to keep on following you, until you forgive."

Ginny stared at him and felt his strong arms around her waist. "What if I never forgive you?"

"I'll always follow you then," he whispered into her ear.

Her heart skipped a beat when he kissed her neck. She felt a strange sensation leap from her stomach to her throat and she found it difficult to speak. His aroma lingered on her; it was sweet and bitter at the same time.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked, when she finally found her voice.

"Because I love you Ginny," he said, closer to her.

She bit her lip and whimpered in ecstasy.

She turned to leave and this time, he didn't stop her.

Draco watched her leave from the shadows of the statue. He smirked; the plan was going exceptionally well. She was reacting exactly the way he wanted.

He left the statue and followed her to her common room. He knew that she knew he was following her and he loved watching her uneasiness, and her struggle to keep in control.

But you don't have control anymore, thought Draco evilly, you're all mine now...

*~*~*

Ginny entered the common room and crashed on a couch. This was mentally exhausting, it was.

Her head was spinning in her circles from her confusion and demand to know what was going on.

She got out her books and began to study, but her mind wouldn't focus. She couldn't stop thinking about him and what he was doing to her. She didn't know why he was doing this, unless he had really fallen in love with her.

Hermione, being one of her close friends, noticed her lack of attention and asked her, "What's wrong, Ginny? You seemed really troubled."

Ginny said, "What? Oh sorry, it's just..." But Ginny found, she couldn't take it anymore. She had to tell someone and Hermione was as good as anyone. She was almost her sister.

"Something is bothering me, Hermione. Can I please talk to you about- outside?" she asked.

Hermione looked at Harry and Ron. They were too immersed in their notes to notice what Ginny asked.

"Sure," said Hermione, "but let's go upstairs."

So they went upstairs to their dormitory.

Both girls sat on Ginny's bed and then Hermione said, "So, what's up?"

Ginny took a deep breath and then said, "DracyMalfoylovesme," all in one breath.

"Excuse me?"

"Draco Malfoy loves me," she said again.

Hermione stared at Ginny and then Ginny slowly explained it all.

At the end, Ginny said, "So, what do you think I should do?"

"Well, the sensible part of me says, just ignore it," said Hermione thoughtfully. "But the wild and crazy part says love him back."

"What?!" said Ginny.

Hermione laughed, "Just pretend to love him back. I think this is a better comeback then the posters, I think."

"How will that humiliate him?" asked Ginny, one eyebrow up.

"He's doing this is private right, so you turn the tables on him and do it in public," she said. "This way, you'll end up confusing him and embarrassing him."

Ginny smiled, "Hmmmm. I like it. It sounds better then the posters, you're right, but I'm not really sure about it. What if Ron or Harry finds out?"

Hermione thought for a second and then said, "For now, just do it in secret and then later on you can be more public about it. Besides, just when he's so in love with you that he'll do anything, tell him that it was all a scam and he'll regret it for the rest of his life."

Ginny nodded, "Sounds good."

The next day, which was Sunday; Ginny jittered, nervously awaiting for the plan.

After eating breakfast, she walked to the library. She could feel Draco following her so she went behind the statue before he did.

She stood impatiently, tapping her foot, while she waited for him.

He finally came and from the very little light pouring in from outside, Ginny could see that Draco had one eyebrow up, questioning her.

Ginny flipped some hair over her shoulder and said, "I thought about what you said, and I agree with it."

He smirked slightly, but waited for her to go on.

Ginny was shaking with nervousness, she felt like she was going to start crying any second. "I mean...our families are enemies, why do we have to be?"

He continued to look at her with that same expression, but Ginny was done.

"Um, that's all I came to say," she said. "I guess I'll go now." She turned to leave but he grabbed her wrist and spun her so she was back inside.

She was pressed up against the wall by him and could feel his hot breath on her cheek.

"Not so fast," he said, twisting her wrist. "I have to know you're committed to me."

Ginny gulped, she hadn't foreseen this. "I never said I was going to commit to anything. I...only said that we should stop being enemies."

Draco smirked, touching her cheek with his soft hand. Ginny shivered, from his cool touch.

"But I want us to be more than enemies, Ginny. Much more," he said.

Ginny gulped and tried to get free. She was starting to panic, she didn't know what to say or do. It was suddenly feeling tremendously hot behind the statue, with Malfoy's body pressed up against hers.

"Do you promise to stay by my side, forever?" he asked. "Otherwise, I'm not letting you go."

Ginny knew he was serious because his grip on her wrist had tightened and it throbbed with pain.

"All right," she cried, "I promise."

"Good," he said. Then he kissed her cheek, exactly where her tears were.

His lips on her cheek made her cheek burn. She was scared but also a part of her wanted it. She didn't know what was happening to herself.

But Ginny couldn't let him control her, she pushed him slightly back, but he wouldn't budge.

"If I promise to be by your side, you have to promise that you'll always be by my side," said Ginny, playing a card of her own.

Draco was surprised, but he hid it with a smirk. "Sure." He then took out his wand and then slid his hand into Ginny's back pocket to get hers.

"Whenever I say your name, you'll appear by my side," he said. Then he whispered an incantation.

He did the same thing to her wand and then said, "There, we're equal now."

Ginny wasn't so sure though. "Are you going to call me a lot, then?"

He smirked and said, "No, only when I need you."

Ginny's eyes widened in horror, "How long do we have to stay with each other when we're called by the other?"

"You can leave anytime," he says. "You can leave the minute you get there, there's nothing binding you."

Ginny sighed with relief and then said, "Well, can I go now?"

He cocked his head to one side and looked at her. She squirmed under his sight, she hated when he did that, and actually she hated him.

"Sure," he said. Then he leaned down and kissed her on her cheek.

Ginny rushed past him and left. She didn't turn back to look at all. She couldn't believe what she had just done. She didn't like the sound of 'whenever he needed her'. What if he called her away in the middle of the night? What if she got caught in the Slytherin boys dormitory? She would be dead and on her way to Hell by that time.

She sighed and then ran up the stairs, too lost in his thoughts to feel the powerful gaze of Draco Malfoy on her.

Draco frowned after she left. This was a quite unexpected turn of events. She was supposed to come running to him later, it had happened too quickly. Nonetheless, it went well.

He had kept her on her toes the whole time and he loved watching her squirm, it made the whole thing too much fun.

Except for that time when she asked him to promise to stay by her side forever. Either she was madly in love with him, or not as stupid as she looked. He bit his lip and ran a hand through his blond gelled hair. Oh well, the plan was ahead, but going well. Besides he had that spell to call her whenever he wanted to.

He smirked to himself. Ginny Weasley was going to pay for what she did to him and he was going to lure her into his deadly game, locking the door after she entered, making it impossible for her to ever get out.
