DIARIES OF A POTTERHOLIC
Chapter II
December 29th:
Remember that walk? Well, I had my dream date with Harry Potter. Wee! He was such a gentleman. He gave me a rose, it felt so 'Bachelor-ish' (my mum watches that show all the time). It was like in one of those old movies where everything gets all fluffy and sweet.... When we was talking I could feel the butterflies in my stomach move around and my heart bumping with every word that came out of his lips... *sigh*
Ha! Yeah right... in Oppositeland! As if that would ever happen!
And I'm not that corny, just for you to know. That image makes me want to throw up. Yuck!
Now, the facts:
I got out while Liv went to the bathroom, so I could avoid any clever questions and I walked ALL around the castle.
I got really stressed at a beginning because I just couldn't find Harry. Then, I realized that if he wasn't anywhere outside, then he must have been in the Gryffindor Tower. I decided to rest at a side of the portrait hole. How did I know which portrait it was? I have my sources...
Of course, the Fat Lady began asking questions.
"Are you coming in or not?" she said.
"I don't have the password."
"You are not a Gryffindor, are you?"
"No, obviously I'm not," I answered.
"Then what are you doing here?"
"Nothing. It's none of your business," I told her, being quite rude. All those questions were annoying me.
She gave me an offended look and remained quiet for the rest of the time I was there. I don't think she likes me...
Anywho, I sat there like for 20 minutes (I know, I know. I'm pathetic. It's like when a girl waits all night long for a guy to call) and then, finally I heard voices from inside. I stood up rapidly, took some steps backwards and pretended to be just walking by. Miraculously it was Harry. I could have screamed in happiness. But wait- he was followed by that guy... what's his name? Hmmm... Ron. Yes, so my time had been wasted. I hate when that boy is around, he should move to Australia or something. Every time a get a possible moment with H.P he gets in the way and I can't do anything about it. I mean, I would blow him up with my wand but then Harry would de upset.
At the sight of the 2 boys, I stood frozen. Pretty much like a freak.
"Hi," Harry said.
"Hi," I told him almost in a whisper, my voice wouldn't come out!
Then, awkward silence. I smiled.
"Do we know her?" Ron whispered in Harry's ear. But of course, I have the ears of a fox and was able to hear it.
We just stood there until Harry spoke. "I guess I'll see you around."
"Sure, I'd love to," I blurted stupidly. I'm such an idiot!
"Pardon me?" he said.
"What?"
"You just said something." Harry told me.
"No. I simply said sure," I affirmed him.
"All right," was the last thing he said me before walking away.
Just when you think your life can't get any worse... well, it can.
That situation was so odd, I felt pretty lame. Maybe if he hadn't come out with his freaking little friend, I might have said something clever and funny. But- no! Fate is against me.
Although, I'm not giving up this easy. I need a change of plans.
But that's not all. It's actually nothing compared to what came next. You won't believe what happened to me today.
I was sitting by the lake when Harry sat down a tree a couple feet away from me. He looked quite unhappy.
You know, this year I've noticed him unusually sad. Sometimes I just see him wandering by his own and- well, it's just that he looks so miserable. It must be really hard to know that any minute You- Know- Who can try to kill him and the people he knows. I don't believe I would be able to take it. But I just feel there's an extra something troubling him, I'm not sure...
What was I saying?
He was sitting down a tree, right. And he finally was alone! No Ron anywhere to be seen. The coast was clear and I decided to make a move.
I got on my feet and walked towards my Prince Charming. I sat next to him.
"Hi" I said.
He turned his face to me. "Hey, what's going on?"
"Not much really". I took a big breath. "I wanted to apologize about the other day..."
"Why should you? He asked.
I smiled. "It's just that it was-"
"Awkward?"
"Yeah..." I analyzed carefully my words before continuing. "Is there anything troubling you, Harry?" I asked him. Quite a dumb question it was. Of course there's something troubling you when you look so sad!
" I really don't-"
What he was about to tell me, I never knew, for certain redhead interrupted. He sat between Harry and me.
"Harry, I've been looking for you. What have you been up to? Ron asked.
"Just sitting here. Talking to... I just realized I don't know your name" told me Harry.
"Sorry. I'm Lizzy. Lizzy Greenwood."
"I thought we could go practice some quidditch," said Ron.
Before either could say anything else, for some strange reason, an elf came and asked Harry a minute of his time. "Harry Potter, sir, Dobby needs to talk to you".
So, I was left with Ron.
"Your name isn't Lizzy, is it?"
"No, I'm Elizabeth but everyone calls me Lizzy." I wasn't willing to sit next to Ron silently and decided to start a conversation. I felt quite nervous, though. "How long have you been Harry's friend?"
"Since our first year. We met on the train."
"Good."
We stayed silent for a moment.
"And how long have you been Harry's friend?" Ron asked.
"A while."
"Are you guys... you know..."
"What?"
"...I don't know.... like, dating?"
I laughed at the idea. "No. Not really."
"Oh." He simply said. I couldn't figure the expression on his face out.
"How come I had never met you before?" he said.
"I have no idea."
I started giggling. Then, before I knew it, we began talking about school, quidditch and stuff. I didn't even notice for how long had Harry been absent.
After you get to know him a bit, Ron isn't the idiot he looks like. He's quite a cool bloke. I never thought I could talk with a boy that easily. He is kind of cute actually. I like the freckles on his face; they give him a sweet look.
A couple of minutes later Harry reappeared.
"So, what about the quidditch Ron?"
This clumsy boy accompanied Harry... I don't know what his name is. He waved hi to us and said: "I'm bringing Trevor as well."
I was wandering who was Trevor supposed to be, when the boy put his hand in his pocket and got out this huge, gross toad.
I totally freaked out. I mean, how can people go around with those things in their pockets?
I gave a soft scream and jumped into the closest arms -oh, those very sexy and strong (probably because of quidditch) arms, yet gentle-, which I thought, were Harry's, of course.
I told- well, yelled at the boy to get that thing out of my sight. He did, and walked away. 'It's ok, Trevor'.
When he was far enough, I turned to face the guy who was holding me. All I could think about were swear words when I found out that it wasn't Harry, but Ron! I immediately turned terribly red, I could feel my ears burn, and jumped from his arms. For a split second I saw he had turned red too. Then, I gave the best use of my legs, without turning around.
Near the Great Hall, I run into my friends -literally. I crashed against one of them. Under normal circumstances I would have been glad to see them back, but I felt cursed to see them in that exact moment.
"Lizzy! What's up?!" they said.
I think they noticed my terrified look because next, they asked me what was wrong.
"No- nothing. I was just doing some exercise." I wouldn't tell them the real story because they'd make fun of me. I know my friends. Although I know that one of these days, it will, somehow, come up.
Liv raised an eyebrow at this. She knows me too damn well. I'm not exactly what you can call the athletic type.
"And why are you blushed?"
"Because... it's a very hot day." It was the first excuse that came to my mind; it would have worked out, if that day weren't nearly snowing.
All the girls stared at me, but then started talking about how great their vacations were. They didn't take long to analyze me because they know I'm kind of weird some times. We all are, which is good in cases like this.
I don't know what's going to happen between Harry and me, but one thing is certain: I won't be able to look neither him nor Ron into the eyes ever again in my life. Well, at least for some time...
December 31st:
Today I'm really excited because it's New Year's Eve. I can hardly wait for dinner. I know Harry's going to be there and you know how the tradition works: you have to kiss somebody at midnight. It's just the perfect excuse to finally have those beautiful lips pressed against mine. I just hope everything works according to the plan.
