"Remus, I don't want to talk about! I don't want to hear it, any of it."

"But, Sirius, you must to realize -"

"This has nothing to do with you, so why are you even pushing it? I didn't ask for your opinion!"

"I know you didn't, but as your boyfriend I am obligated to try and make you come to your senses!"

"Come to my senses? So you think it's sensible to move back into the house where I've experienced most of my worst memories? Don't even start; this conversation is over, OK? I don't want to talk about it, so just leave it!"

"It's not OK, it's wrong, is what it is! I know your family is different from most, but you haven't even tried to come up with another solution!"

"And what other solution could there possibly be to this problem, Remus? Please tell me, because I really don't see any other way to solve this."

"If you would at least talk to your parents -"

"I'm not going to talk to them! I made up my mind a long ago and I'm not going to come crawling back to them! I would never give them that satisfaction."

"You know, Regulus got one thing right that night - you are extremely proud, so proud you sometimes just end up looking like a little kid!"

"First of all, you have no idea what it was like to live -"

"Will you two shut up already!"

Remus and Sirius, who had been fighting at each other for the last forty minutes, looked surprised over at James, who had had enough of their quarrelling. They realized that they had both risen from their beds where they had been seated and now stood up between them, angrily shaking their hands and flapping their arms about as they argued, with drops of spit flying out of their mouths. The three of them were the only ones in the dormitory, but they realized that the argument must've been heard down in the common room as well.

Sirius and Remus looked at each other, and then Sirius turned away, walked to the window and leaned on the sill. Remus let his arms fall to his sides and James gave up a loud sigh.

"Geez. When has fighting ever solved anything? Honestly guys. Get it together."

"James, you're a reasonable person," said Remus. "What do you think about all of this?"

"What I think doesn't matter, because this is Sirius' business."

"But you're his friend, don't you -"

"Remus, please. There's no use."

They both watched Sirius' back as he too sighed and then turned towards them.

"I know you only mean well, but the more you try to convince me that I'm wrong, the more determined I get about this decision. So please, I really don't want to talk about this anymore."

His voice was calmer now, but you could still hear that he was a bit upset. He didn't meet either Remus' or James' eyes before he left the dormitory and went out.

Walking fast through the empty corridors, Sirius fought hard to hold back his tears. He found it hard to accept that Remus didn't understand him - Remus who had always had his back and always trusted him to make the right decisions. In this time of need, he only wanted Remus to give him a hug and tell him he made the right choice, to tell him that he was better of without them.

The school ground appeared to be empty, since the majority of the students were in the Great Hall having dinner. Sirius walked up to the tree where he usually sat wasting time with his three best friends, leaned against the trunk and then slowly slid along it until he was sitting down in the grass.

Meanwhile, without Sirius even noticing it, a dark figure had followed him out of the castle and was now standing a couple of feet away, watching him as he leaned his head back and closed his eyes. The person held a scroll of parchment clasped in his hand and with a deep breath he walked the last distance up to Sirius, who still held his eyes closed.

"Hrm," the boy hawked.

Sirius immediately opened his eyes and looked up at the boy, who showed a grim and sallow face.

"What the hell do you want, Snivellus?" Sirius snapped. "Can't you see I'm busy?"

"No," Severus Snape replied slowly, "all I can see is you wallowing in self-pity."

"Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set, huh? Or go take a shower, you greasy git. Your presence is disturbing."

"Believe me, I'm not here voluntarily. The Headmaster insisted that I give you this."

Severus handed him the scroll, which Sirius violently tugged out of his grip.

"Thanks. Now get lost."

But he didn't move, instead he stayed put, watching as Sirius started to unroll the scroll.

"I said, get lost."

Severus ignored him.

"Your brother told me about your little revolt against your family..."

For a moment they watched each other; Severus' dark eyes pierced Sirius, who refused to turn away his grey gaze. Severus showed no intention of leaving.

"What part of 'get lost' don't you understand?"

Severus looked as if he was going to say something more, but after a few seconds he spun around and walked towards the castle, his robes flapping around his feet. Sirius followed him with his eyes until he disappeared through the doors, and then looked down at the letter in his hands.

Mr. Black,

Meet me outside my office after dinner. It is important that you show up.

It was signed with Professor Dumbledore's slanting hand-writing, which he knew well by know thanks to Remus' reappearing meetings with the Headmaster.

Sirius looked at his wrist watch. Dinner should be over by now, so he got up and walked towards the castle, silently wondering why the headmaster would want to see him. He got worried that Dumbledore had somehow found out that he, James and Peter had reached success in trying to become animagi. Is it possible he could have found out?

Sirius nervously swallowed his anxiety and went through the front doors.
