Ron is surprised by Harry's presence at The Burrow. Mrs. Weasley begins Harry's Apparation lessons. Harry and Ginny get closer. Bill drops in for a visit, and gives Harry hope. Harry begins to feel happiness again.

Harry and Ron receive their O.W.L. letters. Remus Lupin comes to the Burrow to escort Harry to Diagon Alley, when they return the Burrow is filled with people – surprising Harry for his sixteenth birthday. Harry enjoys his first birthday party, becomes a member of the Weasley clan, and ends his day with a request from a house-elf.

Harry and Ron’s Hogwarts letters arrive along with new school lists and Ginny’s prefect badge. The Weasley’s take Harry, Ron and Ginny into Diagon Alley to get school supplies. They meet up with Hermoine there and run into Neville and his grandmother. The five of them have a treat at Madam Milkins and Neville raves about his new wand. Harry is intrigued by what is at the core of Neville’s wand, and the implications of what Mr. Ollivander has to say on the wand subject.

A Death Eater attack on the Burrow. Harry Apparates for the first time, and begins his magus subolesco.
